4173  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Blackpool v Notts challenge Match on: April 14, 2005, 12:51:11 PM
thanks Yogi.
Looks like Blackpool could be the venue.  It may give us more time to organise, what with Luton in full swing already. I'll be in touch
4174  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Blackpool v Notts challenge Match on: April 14, 2005, 12:44:59 PM
right!
looks like this is developing nicley.  Spoke to Mr Nowab last night and he was quite literally bricking it that Blackpool might lose every single heads up encounter.  He even tried to recruit Carlo Citrone into the Blackpool team (now thats desperate!!)

Looks like Heads up is the way forward though.

Lets talk details tonight at The s**t tip that it Luton

later

Right.....
Here are some suggested details

what about 5 - a - side? (poker that is!) - we might struggle at football... (what with Julian's love for the game and Tikay being 72 years old and a Brentford fan!)

600 a man (winner takes all - 6 grand), but is HAS to cover WSOP entry and a few expenses and they must agree to the below % savers. (we could add a few extra players, who we know and can trust to reduce the cost)

30 minute clock (4000 starting chips with a normal ante structure beginning with 25-50). Strictly NO OTHER business to be done.

Winner: first prize of 6K and 50% of wsop winnings
Runner Up: 27% of WSOP winnings
Third: 16% of wsop winnings
Fourth - 10th: 1% of wsop winnings

I am at Luton Wed thru Sunday. Ariston, if you make yourself known to me (i will be the youngest and best looking person in the room) we can sort for either Friday afternoon or Sunday, whenever really!

I guess we will have to be team captains (below is my side)

Notts:
Greg Hill (thats me)
Tikay
Julian Thew
Rob Yong
Nik Whiten

Your side (being though Burnely John and Simon Nowab are cup tied) your team so far looks like this. You need to fill in the gaps and we'll get it on!
Blackpool:
?
?
?
?
?

Lets get ready to RUUUUUMMMMMMBBBBBLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I absolutely hate to see ALL IN plays, especially early on in tournaments.  I don't think some players realise that the only way they are gonna get called is if they are absolutely dead.  I love to see pots played, raised, called and re-raised on every street and the person who plays the best in that hand winning.  Of course this can only be done where the two players involved have good sized chip stacks or the starting chips you are given are big enough to allow play (e.g. 10,000 chips and antes start at 25-50) - but still you see some all in play to win the 75 or 125 in the middle  - QUE PASA???!!

My understanding is that if ANY form of deal is struck then the ranking points are frozen?!

John? / Tikay?

4181  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: Any chirps re. Nottm. last night ? on: April 04, 2005, 05:05:00 PM
Its was sooooooooo badly organised last night that it didn't start til 10pm. there were arguments galore and it eventually went to a chip count (5 people involved).  The whole situation wasn't helped by people drawing seat numbers who werent even paid in or had taken the place of a 'friend' - it was chaos.  The managers tried their best to sort it but when you have up to 15 people at a time all giving their opinions and shouting at you it must be difficult.

Not much of a report i am affraid as we started the final at 4:50am and last 3 hands were at 5:30am.  All i can say is that the 5 shortest stacks all went more or less in order (they included greek/scouse/bald headed/loud fella Chris (10th) and Adrian Swingler from Sheffield/Retford/Cloud Cuckoo land (8th) )

The final result was:
1.Sean O Donnel took the lions share of 7500
2.Scottish 'Steady' Eddie (5000)
=3.Myself and Ali Ahmed (not bag of bollocks Ali but the other one - yes! there are 2 Ali Ahmeds) both got 3800
5.Corrado Lane took (3100)

I was chip leader going into the final with 103,000 but had sean immediately to my right who was 2nd in chips and acting like a man possessed.  He raised at least once a round and showed several of his hands (AQ, AK, 66 and alike) - it was obvious he didn't really want any action so kept showing his hands in case there were any non-believers in the house.

I went COMPLETELY card dead and even when i had a marginal hand to raise with, Sean fecking well beat me to it - pah!

Anyway - 99 seats sold my 7:25pm, which meant some of the players began selling their seats for more than face value, which lead to arguments from the guys who were on the reserve list, which all meant we didn't get going until 10pm after we had a register of names (just like being back at school) and a few people were unceremoniously ousted from their overly priced black market seats and replaced with the genuine 'reserves'.

All fun and games and i am now assured that it WON'T happen again. - things are gonna change for next month apparently!! hmmmmm! - we'll see.

Next month is a 200 PLH re-buy comp and you can and must register beforehand to avoid dissappointment,  they will have another 2 tables by then, which means 120 capacity. - value folks - come and get it (1st Sunday of every month)
