I realise it makes little difference but any possibility of some points for my pick in the 4:10 today?

no politicians at that

no questions to the scientists

it’s pretty incredible that, as of now, the way to tell the public it’s not a joke is to keep the joker away.

One positive from this whole situation has been that more air time seems to have been given to people with expertise, and without a predetermined bias or agenda.

Just watched the Selby interview.
Must be difficult when you've experienced such a low but makes himself look like a poor loser.

Goodwood 2.15 - Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes

Whilst I recognise that the winning distance was officially 1.5L, and the stewards are minded to overturn results only when the winning distance is less than .25L, surely they have discretion to take account of the severity of interference?

Yes, of course my money was on My Oberon, and it’s my pocket doing half the talking whilst I can’t say with a straight face that it would have definitely won without the interference, but when you see the head-on view you can’t discount the probability that it cost the horse a good 2+ lengths.

Does anyone on here know the absolute rules the stewards work to?

Whinge over, but I’d appreciate a reply or two

I would probably feel similarly aggrieved but having watched it I dont believe My Oberon ever wins if they both get a free run.

A good news story from the difficult environment of care homes (I am sure there are many others that have taken a similar strategy).

Concerning that the care home guy mentions 18th March & Easter (2nd week April) as times he made key decisions but seems to say that there was no official guidance to inform this.

I think it points towards the likelihood that closing borders is one of the key steps to restricting Covid 19.

was one of the key steps.

The article is interested in the period around March, so yes 'was'.

I think you are right that there are assumptions that may be inaccurate.
I don't believe it fundamentally changes the general point that the virus entered the country from a number of different places over a period of a few weeks, which could be good info to inform future strategy.

This also would reinforce the point that having a travel hub (London, New York, Paris etc...) would give greater challenges in a pandemic such as this one.

This is interesting.
'Coronavirus was brought into the UK on at least 1,300 separate occasions, a major analysis of the genetics of the virus shows.
The study estimates 80% of those initial cases arrived in the country between 28 Feb and 29 March - the time the UK was debating whether to lockdown.'

You may have seen this before but it’s truly shocking and no action was taken against the police officer. Beggars belief.

Obviously can't see the final moments, but it nothing in the footage to make the police think they are under threat.
Background here.

Made me think of this line in a piece on the BBC website.
'The real life fear of stopping a suspect who may be armed, in a country awash with guns can lead to bad decisions'.

I’ve tweeted JBM for a clarification on it. I’ll let you know what he says.

Pretty clear in the series of tweets. Governments massage statistics is about as surprising as the Pope being Catholic.

I agree (although we should all expect better), however, in this instance it seems the media and the anti U.K gov elements of the media, who have blown it up. If Spain are ultimately reporting accurate numbers, albeit measured over different intervals, doesn’t seem like a huge deal. The problem is people using it as a stick to beat the U.K gov. Hopefully people will base their criticisms on the more worthy metrics going forward, we’re still spoilt for choice on that front.

I did see something that suggested some of the rural areas of Spain aren't reporting figures daily, which would be one decent excuse for going to weekly figures.

Cynical me links the lower reported figures with the first week that Spain wants to go front foot on tourism.
