I met the interrobang for the first this week and I'm embarrassed to say I quite like it.

I think you're confusing me & boshi Smiley

That's due to the circular (ish) nature of its orbit, Tom. I'm only guessing now, but a little bit of it might be due to the earth rotating underneath it too, so to speak.

Did you watch it to its denouement? Did you see how it dimmed from bright white down to orange then red before finally disappearing? That's because it was passing from the day-lit side of the earth into the earth's shadow. The reddening is due to dust in the atmosphere - think red sky at night.

You can only see it during the hours around dusk or dawn because in daylight its hidden in the glare of the sun and in the middle of the night its already in the earth's shadow when it passes over us.

You can see when it's going to be visible here - http://www.heavens-above.com/PassSummary.aspx?satid=25544&Session=kebgfbefappbjklhepfopobi. To make it as accurate as possible you'd need to register and enter accurate latitude & longitude for your own position.

Boshi would be proud of me Smiley I like space, me - I'm an Apollo boy.

Are these the campest fabrications you've ever made, Tom?

Why Chinese people (sorry Ho) are so rude. In Macau atm and literally noone ever puts their hand over their mouth when they burp or cough . It's fucking tilting me.

Yesterday I sat next to a genuinely nice, well mannered young man who had oily hair, greasy skin complete with freshly squeezed boils, green suede teeth and breath that could stop a charging rino.

When he coughed, (Which was frequently) I could see the spittle flying across the table.

Apologies.

ORLY?

Yes, I knew it wasn't Corgi now but didn't know what the new regime was called.

I'll try the pipe connections obviously but surely the HE is the more likely culprit after 7 or 8 years?

Save Fib's gonads!

We don't want Five-ball Fib to become Free-ball Fib.

Just to go back to the subject of neutering, you're looking at the issue with human eyes and human thought processes.

Imagine you could never have sex ever again, wouldn't you be glad if the desire went away too?

Many Entire dogs spend their whole lives obsessing about sex but never getting any, and that's pretty horrible. (ask Vinny if you don't believe me)

Far kinder to take away the craving. He won't have any idea that anything is different, he'll just be calmer, less stressed and less distracted.

That's the beauty of having two dogs - they both get plenty Smiley

Yeah...they're constantly trying to do each other when they can't find some other poor soul to go after.  I'm forever having to say, "Put it away Lads!"

I rest my case.

Don't rest it too long or Fib will mount it.

Can you not do it then get a Corgi guy to certify your work?? Or is that not allowed?

That's one of the questions I asked ^^^^

I know it's allowed with electrical work and would assume the same is probably true with gas.

Our boiler has sprung a leak. It's a Baxi Solo 3 PFL 50 (non-combi). I've not investigated yet but I reckon it's likely to be the heat exchanger. I can get a replacement HE for £115. It's not currently working as the central heating fuse has gone and likely the control PCB has been fried too by the leak dripping onto it. Luckily, I hopefully have a repaired PCB from a previous fault.

When it was installed, only about 7 or 8 years ago, it was a 'drop-in' replacement for a Baxi Solo 2 because it was easy but my understanding at the time was that it shouldn't have been installed and I should have had a more efficient model, possibly a combi, but I can't remember. That would have been a job for a plumber, entailing extensive pipework changes. I chose to do it myself with friends' assistance, none of us Corgi-registered.

A new boiler, installed properly, would cost somewhere between £2,000-£3,000 (depending on type) I reckon, which I'm keen to avoid Smiley. I'd guess having the HE changed professionally would cost around £300-£500. Changing it myself shouldn't be much more that the cost of the HE, perhaps just a tool or two, some PTFE tape etc.

So, with that background, would you entertain doing the work yourself? Is there any point getting a Corgi-registered bloke (or blokette, we're non-sexist at Jaxie Towers) in? Can I just get the work checked by Corgi man? I'm an engineer (electrician) by trade and am confident of being able to do the job safely but possibly with much swearing.

What would you do?
