Perhaps you have a virus on your PC that is attempting to hack ports on other PC's in your network.

Confession time...I posted on the Tikay/Chilli stop smoking thread that I would buy the book and give it a go.

I DID buy the book and it has been collecting dust since, read the intro then decided I was too stressed to give up.

I am going to set a date and promise myself to read it on that day.

Ok 1st of May

Anyone else want to buy the book and join me?

You don't need to set a date. You aren't giving you anything, you are quitting smoking. This is the message you will have when you've read the book and you will wonder why you ever smoked in the first place.

Read the book now, why wait? You still smoke while you are reading it.

Good luck.

Do you remember when you get to that final cigarette at the back of the book, i smoked 5 reading that couple of pages, just wanted to make sure.

For me, I had stopped 12 days before reading the book so I didn't go through any cigarettes. The book reinforced my reasons for stopping and boosted my pride and determination to succeed. -- that sounds made up Smiley

Best of luck vinni, tis quite easy really, watch out for those relapses.

I got drunk, bought a deck and had 3 fags the other day.
I simply forgot that I didn't smoke.

Feel well bad, but I haven't started again. Got 17 left in my jacket pocket that I ain't been tempted to touch so that's good.

Hi everyone I gave up exactly one month ago today.  I have been out twice since then and have had a social smoke.  So 4 fags in a month in total.  I class myself as a non smoker - I never get the urge unless I am out.  Also the knowledge I will never have another one seems to help.  Am I a fraud?

Good luck with it all the rest of you…

Am I a fraud? If you smoke on nights out then you aren't a non-smoker, although you have done very well to abstain when you are not on social nights out. I'd recommend reading Mr Carrs book to help you get over the final hurdle.

im first to crack before anyone grasses me i smoked lastnight for the first time since we all stopped.i just fancied one but it stops today ............................

What do you mean crack? Did you feel under pressure to smoke? I hope you do stop again today, you know it makes sense.

Since I quit in September my life is changing quite a bit.

1) Can afford to overpay the mortgage by £300 a month
2) Treated myself to new AV setup, although not from smoking money
3) Decided needed a bigger house for AV setup Smiley
4) On the day we view the first house we find out we are having another baby (no3) so its no longer a luxury, we actually need to move house. Ann's stopped smoking too now.
5) Missed out on first house after paying for survey etc.. but have had our offer accepted on another house which is much nicer and needs less work than that first one. Extra mortgage payments are within the smoking money limit Smiley So moving house with cig money from semi-detached to detached Smiley No more overpayments for a while I suppose, but heh, we are getting a much bigger pad.

Now granted, some of this is quite scary, but you get the idea Smiley Quitting smoking is a positive thing.

Today i had a really grim day 12 hour day at work including 300 miles of driving and sitting in traffic jams. I also had to deal with some of the most annoying idiotic people i've had the pleasure of meeting and i amazed myself  by not getting stroppy or stressed or marching straight to the nearest shop for ciggies.

This is 3 days in tonight and i feel totally unfazed by quitting, where as when i tried to give up in the past by now i would of been almost at wall climbing madness time and with my wife quitting at the same time WWIII would have been starting.

As it happens we are both coping fine and just happy being quitters.

That's great news, another 2 get off the sinking ship, fantastic.

Superb! I can sense you are looking forward to it already. Smiley

Well Done Guys, let's keep this bandwagon rolling.

Dunno how I could have missed this post for so long!!!

My smoking has been bugging me for ages, been wanting to quit for a while but not quite in the right frame of mind. I tried once before and it was hell, so I'm seriously impressed with everybody on here. So much so infact.....F*ck it.... it's time to do it myself.

Just ordered the Allen Carr book, hope to join your bandwagon very soon.

Good luck PokerManiac, you've taken the first step to getting yourself into the right frame of mind for quitting. It took me a long time and lots of attempts before finally working out why it was so difficult for me to succeed in stopping. The right frame of mind is essential and Mr Carr is excellent at getting you into that frame of mind. His writing style isn't for everyone, he says so himself, but it's the message that he gets across that's important, not whether it's a front runner for the booker prize. Looking forward to reading about more success stories.

Cheers,

Eoan

Well, I finally stopped smoking for the second time last Friday. Saturday was a real pain (I ended up going for a 5 mile walk Shocked ) Sunday, my Cousin came round (she's a smoker) I didn't even have a pang and she smoked in front of me. I ended up giving her the EASYWAY book, as she is studying to become a fitness instructor...

Since Sunday, I've had the odd couple of pangs, but chewing gum (Wrigleys Extra) tastes so much better than Benson & Hedges! Wink

No more headaches, no more pain in my legs, no more pains in my hands, no more bad breath.

It's great to be a non-smoker again! Grin

HOLLA!

Good man, that just one cigarette rule still holds regardless of how long you have been quit for.

Just a quick update i've had alot of issues to deal with of late and the book had remained unread. Last night i actually started to read it, got about a 3rd of the way through and am determined to finish it with in good time now i've started.

That's the way to go, it won't be long before you are free. Smiley Positive attitude, remembering why you quit and reminding yourself that you are  losing nothing, it's all GAIN, GAIN, GAIN. It's great to be free, I've made several overpayments to my mortgage, have a smoke free house as my partner quit last week too, can breath a lot easier, feel a lot fitter and don't feel like a slave to the weed. I reached 4 months without a cig on the 10/01/07 Smiley Last cigarette on 09/09/06, feels brilliant. Time goes by quickly, but from very early in my quit I realised I would never smoke again. That was one of the best feelings in the world. A natural high. When you realise that you won't smoke again, you will experience that high also.
