6916  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Kids on: August 19, 2005, 12:34:10 PM
At a barbeque with friends one of their toddlers fell over. To try and distract the kid to stop her crying they all start 'Oh Darn' ie getting her to say something instead of crying. Clear as a bell she says 'Oh f*ck' - cue Rod rolling on the ground crying with laughter at the faces of her Gran (horrified), Mum (glaring at her Dad like "That's YOUR fault you bastard") & Dad (waiting for ground to open).

They're still not happy with my reaction because the wee one took it as approval & they'd a terrible time stopping her doing it whenever she wanted attention.  Grin

Another cracker was my ex's nieces. we were baby-sitting & heard the middle one (about 6) say f*ck. Aunty & Auny's Bidey-in (me) are being all adult explaining that that's a bad word to her & her wee sister.

Melissa replies with "but f*ck's not a bad word". We ask her why she thinks this.

"Daddy says 'God's Sake' & 'F*ck's Sake' & Mum tells him off for it. God's not a bad word so it must be sake".

We then realised that the kids had been thinking they were getting away with swearing when they kept saying sake at eachother  Grin.

Needless to say my adult demeanour disappeared as I again burst out laughing. I'm just destined to be a great example to kids - the type of example where parents can go 'Don't you EVER be like him'.  Cool

I was in Cincinnati on Wednesday waiting for the cash game after crashing out in flames at the Riverboat, couldn't be arsed waiting any longer and left. Wish I had carried on watchin now Smiley

Well if you see me in there come up and say hello - unfortunately I look quite like the cariacture in my avatar  Grin. We can argue who said Bevvy first, the scousers or the Scots  Grin

Re the deal, other considerations were it was 2am on a school night, (WHY can't we get earlier starts on a school night in Glasgow?). Dave was driving & Teacake was with him, so we were keeping him back (not that he'd mind, but still), and I was just relieved at making the money after being short-stack for practically the whole final table.

Re ganging up on the chip leader, Teacake & I are too competitive to help eachother (as witnessed by his slowplaying a straight to me in the early stages & causing a buy-in  Angry ). Also I agree it would be cheating & I'm pretty sure it would have stuck out like a sore thumb.

Think a 'RED-DOGS spray coffee all over your monitor Posts' thread is in order - and it should be kept at the top of the board.

My boss KNOWS I'm mucking about on the net when I burst out laughing like I have done twice today at his posts.

6923  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Pub Crawl on: August 18, 2005, 03:41:42 PM
Well there's the Clockwork Orange Challenge in Glasgow....

Not as bad as it sounds, the Clockwork Orange is the nickname for the underground (orange trains) & the challenge is a drink at the nearest pub to all the stations (16? I think).

Then there's a wheelchair friendly lapdancing, a Poker Club (Cincinattis), and the Riverboat & Stanley casinos.

Ansd I don't have to travel  Grin

Grin Grin Not too bad - 2 of us fish made the money at the new club (Wheelchair friendly aside from the 'top table - ona mezanine floor).

How's like in Iceland?

BTW when you due down at Southern General? You know if you want stuff brought in to you it's not a problem. (NO lapdancers though  Cheesy)

Sorry to quote a really old post, but I take great offense at you classifying Liverpool (and coventry/wakefield for that matter) as "DAN SARF"... Liverpool is in the North, please don't associate such an excellent city with the dross that exists further down the M6 Wink

And as for the original comment, "bevvy" is a well known and well used term throughout the North of England and Scotland, and I have heard many a suverner also using the term, so perhaps tikay has spent too much of his time in the states these days Wink

Yes, the Scousers and the Yorkshire folks used to complain about that too  Huh? - but it is down south to us  Grin.

As for the bevvy making its way south, that's us people that do the missionary work   Cool Grin

Well 3 of the TPT went and played last night - first a £10 NL STT, Teacake made the money, but there was a deal when down to 3 as the £10 NL rebuy was about to start.

£10 Rebuy, 28 runners, 72 rebuys/topups £1000 prize money - £550, £275, £175.

2 Blondeites (that I knew anyway) made the final table (Dave had a JJ run-in with AA).

Teacake was always 1 of 2 chip leaders, I was short stack from the start.

After not pulling a hand for what felt like eons, I was on BB 800, with another 2K, pocket all-in, another 4 on turn & I lived on. Teacake wasn't hitting many hands but seemed to make a few steals. While this was going on the other chip-leader was putting out about 4 other players, giving him a huge chip lead.

Next BB, A4, flop A 8 4, all-in, against KK, hit the 4 again. still alive.

Nothing else mad apart from me hitting again 88, held up. Eventually in the finest defensive performance since Wimbledon won the FA Cup I staggered into 3rd. Teacake & I did a deal to split 2nd & 3rd (chip leader had well more than both our stacks combined).

Still, first time in the money at a live tourney for either of us, so a good night.

Cincin's is putting up trophys for these games at the moment, but Teacake's comment was 'I can't wear that round my wrist  Grin' , at least he's aiming high.

=======================================

The guys at Cincinattis have agreed to put on a £15 one-rebuy only with a similar structure & payout to the Notts structure posted on here. When we've found a date (avoiding football matches) I'll post it up on Blonde, we need a decent crowd to get a change in Glasgow from the constant rebuys (or chip-chucking contests as Teacake so ably put it).

Do you remember that "hole in one" coup a few years ago when bookies were offerring crazy odds about a hole in one at a major golf tournament ? some shrewd guys noticed that, and had amazing bets and duly collected......

Kev.

Kex, as I remember it those guys only got a fraction of the bets paid out once the bookies realised they'd made an arse of it.

Well done RFC - you got all the luck last night (2 stonewallers - Hugh DAllas must have briefed the ref  Wink).

Good luck for the TV appearance.

I have a picture of the Ex Mrs. as my backdrop, everytime i start feeling tired during a game, i minimise the poker window look at her face and immediately scare myself back to being fully awake and able to concentrate again Wink

now i dont suggest you use a picture of my ex (although i can and will sell you one Wink ) But how about you use a pic of Rangers holding the sock (poor excuse for a "football" league) trophy Smiley that should have the same effect without the need for red bull and such rubbish Smiley

If it was online there wouldn't be that much problem - get up - go wash face in cold water etc - it's in the casino that I'm struggling.

Notice me rising above the footie jibes Cool
