63  Community Forums / The Lounge / Need a new TV - Advice needed please. on: October 13, 2010, 11:10:51 AM
My old TV has finally decided to blow up FML so i need to buy a new one.

I've not bought a tele for at least 7 years so am looking for advice on what sort to get.

My old tv is an analogue 28" and i sit approx 12' from it and at that range is a little small for the distance. I mention size and distance because i have no idea which size to get, i don't want anything too small obv.

Also being a techno newbie could you tell me the difference between LCD and plasma please? Which is best?

All i watch on the tv really is mainly sport and documentary's and occasionally play the Wii on it also have an HD virgin box.

Budget is around £400 but could squeeze a bit more.

Saw this one http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/panasonic-viera-tx-p42c2b-42-hd-ready-plasma-tv-05047416-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-63

Any good?

Thanks  Smiley

Watched this briefly this morning. Only saw 1 miner come up and i have to say whilst he seemed pleased to be rescued, he didn't seem overly pleased to see his wife!

Ryanair serve a great purpose, which is to get from A to B as cheaply and safely as possible.

Personally if it's cheap enough I,m happy to sit on a crate with the chickens
If I can get where I want to go safely!

Why does the delivery take so long?

Yeah I thought that. Not like Amazon, can only assume they are having trouble with the numbers being ordered.
Im away on Friday, gonna have to carry a book on the plane, its just not on.

Perhaps a nice stewardess will hold it for you!?

He's absolutely hopeless, but this being heavyweight boxing he always has a punchers chance, but please god NOOOOOOOOOOO!

He doesn't deserve a shot at the Midlands area title never mind this.

He doesn't have a punchers chance, because he never throws a punch!

He grabs, he runs and he hides.

Do you think the bookies have Audrey's price wrong then Keith?

How would you price him for the fight?

he thinks the current team are the worst he's ever seen ( he's 42 btw ).

This is nowhere near the worst team of the last 25 years.

This is my thoughts too, Bloody Coventry fans what do they know about proper football!

Not checked yet but am assuming the downloads would be cheaper than buying the physical books?

From what i've read about the situation i'd expect a good outcome for the club and fans, but what's the likely impact if things go against you?

We'll be on -3 points and G&H still don't get any profit from their investment.  NESV say they're in it for the long term, so don't see why the club going into administration would put them off the purchase, unless of course it meant that we'd be relegated.

Is there any danger of the club doing a Portsmouth? Or are things not that bad?

Even on -3 points i'd be astounded if you got relegated, TBH i'm a little surprised you've started so poorly.

My brother in law and i were chatting about the situation, he thinks the current team are the worst he's ever seen ( he's 42 btw ). I disagreed, maybe its my memory but i'm sure that Souness had a worse side player for player?

So you cannot surf the internet at all then? ie read blonde etc?

This was also a good reason to get one because due to the kids taking over my laptop of an evening i'm currently viewing Blonde on my ipod! and my 37yr old eyes are struggling.

You can read blonde on it, but it's not really what it was designed for.  Neither was an ipod really though Cheesy.  If you don't want to post a lot, but just want to read the threads on blonde, then I guess it's perfectly fine.  I really need a laptop though as for some reason I always want to respond on threads as well as read them... Wink

Are you able to make the odd response on it though?

I use my phone to make my odd responses if I'm not on my computer.  But yes, could use the Kindle.  I have a small laptop that I use when I'm out and about anyway, so I tend to use that (which is why I don't see the point of an ipad).

No i don't want an ipad either and as i'm never too far away from home i think the wi-fi one at £109 will suffice.

Excellent, thanks for the advice Dan.
