Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: New + Weekly at DTD, £100,000 GTD DTD200

Hi Tighty
I hope you don't mind me providing some feedback.
I've found the recent changes to the satellite structure for the DTD200 to be disappointing.
Previously there were daily $11s at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm, and $55s at 7pm and 9pm. Now there is just one daily $11 at 7pm and one $55 at 9pm with 10 £220 seats guarenteed (the 5pm turbo $55 seems to have disappeared this week too).
I wasn't aware that the $11 and $55 satellites previously had significant overlays or struggled to fill.
I'll continue to support this fantastic weekly tournament; I just wish there were more satellites like before!!

Today's legend is the youngest amongst our 'legends' group and you won't hear him above everyone else when you enter a cardroom. (You might see him over them though).
I doubt anyone could say a single bad word about the guy and he ridic owned Rooks 3-handed in a £300 final at DTD. Impressive poker resume, impressive guy....
I give you, Pete Linton's body double, James Keys....
He leaves dirty pans in the sink all of the time. Wanker. Anyway having said that I could tell you many legendary Keys' stories. During some harder times at university, Keys and another friend pooled their money together and realised they had a grand total of around £6 between them in the world. Naturally they headed for a blowout in McDonalds but somewhere en route stopped off at a pub and spent all of their money in the world on 2 pints each. [ ] They ate well that night. Legend.

I think Megson has been pretty unlucky, I am not sure what Bolton expect to achieve but maintaining their premiership status means they have been punching above their weight for many years. Not sure how you quantify that, only 11 teams have more top flight years under theuir belt than Bolton? It is not like they have been used to a diet of brilliant expansive football in the past, me thinks they might live to regret this decision, thinking the grass is greener on the other side.
Before my time as a Bolton fan, but you'd be wrong there as well, historically Bolton have been a pretty attacking team, that changed largely unde Fatso, and totally under Megson. And even under Allardyce, the days of JJ & Djorkaeff are pretty fresh in the memory. Looking at clubs historically especially pre 2nd world war, when Bolton spent a lot of time in the top division isn't realistic. Post 2nd world war Bolton have spent some time in the basement of the football league and quite a bit in the 3rd flight. Using this as a measure you could argue that Burnley, Preston, Blackpool, Huddersfield are all natural top flight teams. There fan base is a lot smaller than a number of teams who have performed a lot worse than them in the last 15 years. I can't recollect many teams failing to sell their full allocations for events such as playoff finals, which Bolton did in the 90's or even the Fa cup semi final against villa in 2000 in fact. The attacking football teams to which you refer were yo-yo clubs at best as I presume you aren't harking back to the times of Nat Lofthouse. The small fanbase is understable given the number of teams in the area. Given the choice between all the clubs in the North West nobody is going to choose Bolton unless they live there or are mentally disturbed. If you meet a Bolton fan they inevitably have either been brought up there or have parents who forced them into it.

As a fan, I think we've been fortunate that the last few years have seen some other very poor teams in the Prem, with this year another example.
Megson was in a lose-lose situation from the off but he didn't help his own chances with his tactical decisions. Most of his defensive signings were ok, Cahill and Muamba being two good examples, but he is totally inept with spotting attacking talent. Elmander should go in the same bracket as the Steve Marlet's and Sergei Rebrov's of the world.
I'd like to see an appointment that the fans can get excited about like Darren Ferguson but the fact is it's not our style.
Jewell it is I guess.

Great Update Kev.
Loving the "wrong seat" story.
Been interesting oif he'd trebled up, (instead of losing 3k), busting 2 players in the process, both of whom had unidentifiable stack sizes......
Or if he'd lost the entire "wrong" stack, but did not have enough in his correct stack to cover it.
Good Ruling by DTD though, especially the Penalty.
This ruling reminded me of a similar situation I saw a few years ago at a student poker tournament up in Scotland, but on a much larger and funnier scale. Two guys with very similar names made day 2 of this tournament, I forget the exact details but I think one was a C Macdonald and the other a C Mcdonald, or similar names. One had finished the first day amongst the chip leaders (approx 100k) and one had finished as quite a shortstack (say 20k). Shortstack C Macdonald turned up to be greeted by a bag of 100k's worth of chips thinking it was his lucky day, sat down, and started having a whale of a time with his new found chips, throwing them around willy nilly, blissfully unaware that his actual short stack was on another table being blinded away. About 30 mins later the other C McDonald waltzed in pumped and ready for action only to find some cretin had been playing his stack and spewed about a third of it away. Hilarious. This guy tried apologising but clearly his actions were inexcusable. The rest of the room was in uproar. He was promptly disqualified from the tournament and C McDonald the second was left to wish he hadn't spent so long in the shower that morning.
