Yes Alex Notman ex Man U and Norwich retired after a tackle in the east anglian derby a couple of years ago. He now works behind the scenes at Norwich in our community scheme, never really made it despite being a useful player. Was destined for a lower league career IMO if it wasn't for the untimely end to his playing career

This was my obsession before poker and have started playing it again in the last couple of weeks ironically with Rushden loads of money on this version. I play a 2-3-3-1-1 version which is very successful in this version. As for players that vamp has mentioned, a very reliable striker is Richard Sadlier from Millwall or Luke Guttridge from Cambridge who is a midfielder. Other great players on this game are an argentinan from river plate think he is called Del Assandro or something. Also Cherno Samba from Millwall

Ok adam as you insist. By the way it wasn't a full in your face rant more a mutter to myself but still not on really and i was proper steaming for about 15 mins. Im utg +1 and the utg is a tight solid player with about 2500 in chips open raises for 900 (blinds 150/300).

I look down  (not sure about suits) and push all in for about 4.5k. Im hoping to isolate the utg and i know my table image is such that im unlikely to called behind by anything but a monster. Apart from the chap new to then table next me who goes in for about 800. Then matey boy dwells for a bit (he is very aggressive in style regular) dwells for about 30 secs and announces all in for about 4k. I think im in trouble here as surely he can only call with a premium hand. Utg calls as well which automatic with the pot so big.

Utg shows    fair enough pretty much what i expected
I show my ladies.
Shortstack  ok bit of wing and prayer but understandable.
Matey boy

Now i personally think the call is awful to compound things, which started me he says to me, i knew you had a big pair and there was value. Both of these statements are illogical together imo which started me off basically. As you can all guess by now flop came  and no help afterwards.

I actually rebulit through a few all ins (all of which i was fave in) when we were down to 40 i pushed all in shortstacked with  to be called  by matey boy and lost to a river  .

Not a great night all in all, i did shake his hand after been knocked out and apologised for my outburst earlier, as Adam says not typical of me. Something just went in my head last night and i turned into some yank on the wpt for 5 mins. Not good at all.
8404  Poker Forums / The Rail / Im a bad person on: November 09, 2005, 03:27:31 AM
For the first time tonight i lost my temper at the poker table in a live game. I won't go too much in to the situation as it will sound like a bad beat story. Yet i uttered the dreaded "how could you f**goldstar call with that". It basically left me down to felt and even tho i dragged myself back into shape, ironically losing a 70/30 shot against the same opponent which i accepted gracefully (the way i should behaved in the first place).

My question to fellow blondites as we seem quite a good natured bunch is have you ever lost your temper properly at the table and if so how have you stopped doing it again (if you have) . This is not how i want to conduct myself at the table.

Cheers a slightly ashamed trash talker.

Pre flop i don't like to be honest but hey this isn't a pre flop question. Once the flop comes down there is no way im getting out. You did the right thing and ran into a monster. You have re draw outs against every hand apart from aa and i don't think he has that. So you are going to do your money on this flop/ board

I wish you the best of luck snoopy its a brave step. It is one i have given alot of thought to and i may well quit teaching at the end of this school year if its viable. Keep us up to date, I would be seriously interested how you find it as a lifestyle and how you control bankroll and so on.

Anyone watching it now and possibly the weirdest/funniest thing i have seen in tv poker. Bloke lays down a set of 10's on a non 3 flush a j 10 x  board. To find his opponents with qq and busted flush draw. Then turns to phil ivey and says i screwed up. Phil ivey refuses to believe him lol.
8408  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: hand advice please on: November 04, 2005, 12:54:01 AM
I check the flop and then when it checked round to me on the turn. I bet about 1/3 to 1/2 the pot giving someone odds with a big spade and then bet about 1/2 the pot again on the river unless its a spade an then it all depends on the action before you hopefully!

By the way dave is there a hand in hold em you don't like    two spades etc

Lol matt yeah, being dominated by yourself thats a new one.

I flat call here, the odds are massive to see a flop. The raise idea is very creative but if you get called you are going to give up the pot very easily if you don't hit as your oop.
8410  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Cash Game, how much would you bet here? on: November 02, 2005, 03:55:48 PM
Im with tight end here all in there is enough in the pot to take it down already. I have played these games at Notts and if you have it stick it in. Im surprised you didn't get more callers making it just 10 more and then you haven't got a clue if you hand is still good even if it comes a baby flop. I find the problem with this game is that you can't limp cheap and play flops. You will never get odds to hit your draws unless you shortstacked. Mainly as our seat 7 (got a pretty good idea who it is) is not going to give free cards even if he doesn't have it.

A very profitable game long term i think but bloody furstrating short term.

Very interesting topic snoopy and brings up some interesting moral issues. Im of the belief that everyone playing poker is a grown adult and therefore has to be responisble for their decisions in life. In poker we all put down our money on the table and say how much we are prepared to risk. Therefore that money is now up for grabs and to be honest within the rules of the game i want as much of that money as possibly. In actual i would feel i would be cheating people if in was going easy on them, i certainly wouldn't appreciate it from someone else.

I have just been playing a NL 200 game online in which i made a bit of money off one bloke who played a hand pretty badly slowplaying a nut flush and letting me house up on the river and paying me off. He admitted afterwards that he played the hand bad and that financially he had blown alot of money he couldn't afford to blow tonight. I must admit i felt a touch sorry for him but said that is the nature of the game. Which i firmly believe, there is no way i wouldn't have re raised on the river if i thought he was broke or not, this is a game i play to be competitive/ make money and im not going soft on anyone.

Now if it is a close friend/family who i know is on the poverty line i might refuse to sit down with them if they insist on playing as i don't want to be put in that situation. I would do my damndest to stop them playing in the first place beforehand obviously.

I think im with the majority i pass kings but not aces in a month of sundays. Tho red dogs conundrum with the gun maybe you could let the aces go depends how big player 5's gun is(or is that a bit personal).
8413  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Good or bad play? on: October 31, 2005, 02:13:05 AM
Yeah i think this play is fine. You have a nut draw and top pair the pot is big enough for you to push all in and get the correct odds. You might even get the aj to fold here, i mean what does he have you on to make this play.

I don't see a problem with this bundle to be honest you are trying to extract as much as possible out of the hand and if this is the only way to get him to bet at again its a valid tactic. You could argue that you were asking how much was in the pot to see if he was pot committed to call an all in.
