Another to consider in tournament play is that your survival in the tournament is more important than what the pot is laying you (pot odds). Say you only have 7bb's left in the example. It is probably a push all in on the flop orif you read is that strong a fold (only against a set is this a reasonable thing). The reason for this is don't want to call off your stack chasing a draw that never materalise, leaving you with virtually no chips left for the rest of the tournament. If you push you could possibly make your opponent fold or have created not far off the 2 to 1 odds needed for your outs to come on turn and river. In a cash game let the maths be your guide if the maths is right a call is virtually always right. As cash games can be viewed as one long term game where your only aim is to maximise your winnings in every hand. I wouldn't go anywhere near a cash game without knowing pot and implied odds if you want to be a long term winner.

Ok so you have 12 clean outs in theory with 2 to come so you definitley have odds to call. Yet as ironside says you have to consider how you feel you stand against the rest of the table. I am not risking my tournament life in the first level if i believe i have a substantial edge on my opponents, i will no doubt find lot better situations than this. With no edge or i think im one of the poorer players i call and pray especially if one of the stronger players is all in.
In a cash game its a no brainer you have to call.

The other solution that has been put forward for Notts comps are that we move the starting time forward. Is this a viable option (i can't see why not) but i don't know whether the casino has other views on this. I think 8pm is a realistic start time for events instead of 9:15 it gives another hour, also i think the rebuy period could be shortened as well to maybe 75 mins.

Suzanne i would certainly echo what others say, there is no need to start paying someone to coach you. As many have advised read a few books, articles on the net and so on and so forth. Make your own mind up on whether you want to employ these tactics and what suits your game. I would also suggest asking questions (never be afraid to ask) on here about hands/ situations you find yourself in and you were unsure what was the best move. We have quite a few excellent players on here at various limits and games who will give you their view on the subject. As regarding books like SS1 i would take their strategies with a pinch of salt. Doyle is and was a very agressive high stakes player who bullied his opponents off hands with power poker. Unfortunately some of us mere mortals(certainly inc myself) play at stakes where people won't put down 2nd pair to a re re re raise and therefore the power of a bluff becomes alot less. Doyle relied on his opponents knowing how to a lay a hand down (normally a part of a good players make up), therefore he could pick up money with the 2nd best hand. Having been a low stakes player for quite a while (slowly moving up the limits) my best piece of advice is to play your made hands strong and let people pay you off with inferior holdings. Yet most importantly of all enjoy your poker, hey thats why we all started playing for, the enjoyment of the game. Tho i understand it is alot more enjoyable when you are financially rewarded for your play.

Im definitley interested in this event and would probably play even if it was a 100 freeze. I have to say to be fair to all that we should aim for a lower buy in including myself. I understand the point being made by the camel et al, that he wants the prize to be significant enough to mean something to him. Yet if we want to play for more money i think side action can easily be put on to accomodate the higher bankrolls. I think the point is that this is meant to be a BLONDE tournament and therefore should be made to accomodate the greater majority. I think alienating the smaller bankrolls would be totally against the spriit of blonde. Come on guys lets comprimise and have a good weekend.

Now i know we try to have a pleasent atmosphere on here and all that. Yet unless these two are blondites and can prove it i think titan/ blonde should withhold the prize money. It is pure cheek if you ask me and principally i think a stand should be taken. Yes i know its a freeroll and none of us paid and so on. What do other people think?

I downloaded this when i first started playing poker and they gave me 10 dollars without depositing. I have never had to deposit and withdrawn quite a bit. To say the games are soft is being kind. I often play the sit n gos on their for a change up from the cash game grind and some of the play/ tactics are amusing to say the least. The structure is quite nice 15 hands a level especially when you are often playing 5 handed (from 10) after 2 levels. My in the money ratio must be over 50% and i am by no means a sit n go expert. Well worth playing from a profit point of view but the software and customer services are not great.
