Good to hear some good news from Notts after the other thread. I will be supporting the new tuesday night, hopefully it will be good fun and show the good side of the game at Notts. As there is alot to be said for the majority of people up there and the banter at the table some nights is really good fun. Can also put on record my thanks to Rob for his patience/ committement to the cause and with the help of good majority we will hopefully eridicate the problems we have.

Hmm doesn't sound good. Im off holiday for a week so won't be there next week. Hopefully it will all calm down as this could really make what use to be an enjoyable place to play poker a bit of a no no in the future.

Despite Taffy certainly not being everyones cup of tea. I don't mind him and he has always been alright with me.In fact i don't mind being at his table cos you guarenteed a decent dealer who wants to deal. Often you feel at Notts the dealers are being forced into it cos no other sod wants to deal.

Aaah the brilliant ongoings at notts. You can always guarentee an arguement at Taffys table there seems to be one every night over nothing. It always amuses me that Rob has to go over and sort it out, taffy will never admit he is wrong. Then Kev will start winding him up, if he is not too busy moaning about something or the other. I find it all quite amusing really. I agree tho it can be intimidating for new players and you have to have quite thick skinned with some of the characters up there.

Um there are quite a few round the midlands. Depends on what part. There is the Grosvenor in Walsall, a couple in birimingham, stanleys in Derby has started up again and of course there is the mighty gala in Nottingham.

Good to hear about the tenner no limit event on a tuesday, I will certainly be supporting that. It will be interesting to see how some of our rebuy maniacs play when they can shove all their chips in at once. Bagsy not at Paul's table.

Agreed adam. Also the whole using of 50 quid notes doesn't work either it just slows the game down. As much as i love everything poker related, I will giving this a miss in future.

I was at gala tonight, best not talk about the poker as you can tell by the time no money was made. Yet a few things are a changing.
1. Every Sunday (apart from first of the month which remains 100 rebuy) will now be a 50 pound pot limit rebuy from the 10th july.
2. They are changing the blind structure so there will be an extra 2 levels (150/300 and one higher up) also there will be a level in the rebuy period presumably up to 50/100 from 25/50.
My views are that i don't think number 1 is a great invention, tho apparantly it was agreed in consultation with some of the regulars. I would prefer say a weekly freezeout or possibly a no limit tournament.
I think changing the blind structure is a good. Any views?

Intersting stuff the wall, always good to hear the view of people finding their feet in live play. I must admit to having no real strategy live or online to a tournament as far as where i have to be at certain stages. The only thing i do is count my stack in relation to the blinds when im shortstacked. I think one of the biggest mistakes made is getting too shortstacked and not being able to bet people out of a pot with weight of chips. I normally say 6bbs and then its time for a move. Another thing i often do, as im quite tight player is open up my game when the rebuys are over. Firstly i have the table image of not dancing much and the table tends to tighten. So people respect pot size raises even tho im doing it with marginal hands. In general tho every table has its own characteristics andyou have to understand what will work and what won't. That takes experience and knowing your opponent. I think the old maxim playing the opposite way to the table is a good one.
