16  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Nice one Praz.... on: October 05, 2009, 02:37:04 AM
I just want to add post-finale congrats for Praz who was nearly tilted that his giant stack at the end of Day One wasn't as big as Steve Zolotow's but unlike the moustachioed one kept hold of it all the way to the end brilliantly.  I was working during the whole final, watched the lot and the support for Praz drowned out everyone else's, apart from Barry Shulman's wife who was a one-woman "Go BABY" scary cheerleading act.  He could easily have taken it down had the cards run slightly differently and he achieved a level of support from a drunk Empire Casino the like of which I have not seen before or probably will do again Smiley

Awesome job.

I can see me with one of those for about 5 minutes...

Mmm.  Beef jerky>bracelet.  I sort of tuned out after the first bit of this.

Great job Kev (I've been in that position and especially with so much interest it's tough to keep delivering) -a long event but interesting all the way.  Never realised it was so much fun to just sit on the sofa and funk for players Smiley

Congrats too to all the finalists, and to DTD for keeping their guarantee and providing such top-notch service as always.

One of these players is going home with absolutely nothing !!

11   2   Tasos Grigoriou
11   3   Barry Neville
11   5   Daniel Nutt
11   6   Neil Cartwright
11   7   Jonathan Kalmar
11   9   James Mitchell
12   3   Mark Deacon
12   4   Anon
12   5   Danny Toffel
12   6   William Martin
12   7   Peter Conduit
12   8   Gurdeu Millan
12   9   James Atkin

21   3   Chris Ellinas
21   4   Peter Charalamobus
21   5   Mahamed Muse
21   6   Keith Johnson
21   7   John Conroy

Not if they're called James!  Go both!  Although special Go to Fido.  He wrote some quality stuff in the last month and deserves to have his hard work pay off after a bit of disappointment.  Cloud, silver lining, abbreviated cliche.  He's also a really genuine guy who's due a result.  MCCCCCCC!

Also side good-luck to Toby Lewis in the £250...

Nice pictures.  More!   (It's quite fun to be demanding updates for a change...)
21  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Aisling, Jen & Maria all ready for the final! on: May 28, 2009, 03:34:00 PM
After about 14 hours' sleep I would like to add my congratulations to Ling who really deserved the win.  She played THREE of those STT things to get the top spot and I think i remember Annette saying, "I love Aisling!" at one point (I wouldn't let my mum leave the green room).  I thoroughly enjoyed my level and a half, and if 80% equity isn't enough, then whatever is?  I hope you turn that into bankroll, Ling Smiley

YAY

Going to be really fun tomorrow, try not to run your Aces into my AK, you know what happens... Although I think I cashed in all my flip tokens in the last one...

Super result, see you soon.  Congrats.
23  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Jen Mason, Jennifer Tilly and Aisling Collins in action now!!! on: May 25, 2009, 12:18:21 AM
I ran supergood whenever I was all in - racing legs were working!  Ling played really well (and gets to do it a total of three times if it all goes according to plan) including totally convincing me to ch-r double her up with second pair when she flopped top... Anyhow it was a rollercoaster (I don't want to use the word Random) when the blinds got bigger.  Lots of fun!  I have learned that threes are the nuts and I shouldn't ever bluff India... everyone was pretty chilled out all the way through, which in itself was a minor miracle as the studio was in sauna-like conditions.  Anyone playing later heats - no hoody needed.  Cheers for support!  I need a drink!
24  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: No Mods Homer. on: May 22, 2009, 06:27:32 PM
I was never a real mod, just a lurker back when doing the updates, and I can verify they have a pretty tough time of it sometimes.  But I just want to add my NoModHomer congratulations for his sterling work both modding and updating - it was a pleasure to work with you, Sir.

I also want to whistle-blow the real reason for his leaving - he's spent so much money on eye-abusing clothing, he's decided there's a lucrative market out there just waiting to be tapped.  Opening Soon:  NoHoodyHomer

25  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Irish Open - whos going on: March 31, 2009, 01:09:10 AM
Dana and Snoopy and I are all going (not to play, sadly) but to update for various sites and, of course, to drink.  We will definitely keep an eye on all blondes' progress - add yourself to this thread and we'll ask for drinks in return for bad photography of you cheer you on all the way.  Can't miss this event - it's been totally awesome the last two years.  If you're spending any time and money satelliting into stuff this month, gooo Irish Open!
26  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: rule regarding checkin the nuts on: February 28, 2009, 08:16:04 AM
I have had this happen a couple of times live, and however you look at it it's cheating.  The idea that you might 'want to check a tell' is pretty flimsy.  It's counterintuitive to check the nuts on the river at your last possible opportunity to extract value, which is the whole point of the game - the only possible excuse is softplay which is against the rules.  I don't care about a lot of the stuff that goes on which gets the floorpeople called (speech play, out of turn action etc.) but I would always immediately get a ruling if I saw someone do this.  The ruling will never be in favour of the checker, although they probably wouldn't just pick up the guy's chips and show him the door.

28  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: The Danish Pasting - Theo versus Gus on: February 18, 2009, 08:59:38 PM
Are you actually going to go watch this thing live?!  If so please some pictures with high-speed camera aka the slow-mo bits from Rocky.

Does this clash with the Final Table?  Are they going to click 'sit-out' for half an hour and come back with bloody noses and little towels over their shoulders if they ft?
29  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2 on: February 09, 2009, 01:26:50 AM
You're all welcome!  It's been a while since I dipped toes in the update waters, but this is a great one to cover and Chris and I get treated most excellently by the host club.  We are therefore in a good mood most of the time, and our excess enthusiasm can be spent funking for everyone.

Thanks to everyone who told us they enjoyed it, and thanks lurkers too.  I am entirely unenthused by the prospect of playing poker now, so it's definitely a bar trip and then a nap before first train home (barring extreme snow).

Finally (sounds like I'm accepting an Oscar a bit now) thanks to Simon Trumper and all the dealers and floorstaff who are so accommodating with our in-the-way, camera-in-your-face kind of work, to Simon Nowab for getting us a reheated Sunday Lunch when we didn't deserve it as we turned up late, and to DTD for supporting this blonde update.

Immediately after this, the remaining two players chopped the £10,000 that was still unaccounted for, but, officially, the runner up of the Largest £300 Event in Europe was David Mundle, so the Champion is Sandeep Shah!  Well done that man.
