Did I tell you I had got myself a wee camper Tom.

Geo

That's great Geo. I can't think of anyone more suited.

Our camper is home made and it's really small so we have to compromise a bit but on the plus side we can park anywhere.

We've had ours almost 10 years now and we love it to bits.

We did two trips this month.

I always take a pic of our parking spots. For those not interested, look away now....

We need photos of Geo's van, love these things.

Can't believe yours is 10 years old Tom, doesn't seem that long since you introduced it.

I’ve always been a walker/camper and hadn’t considered a Campervan until earlier this year I decided on a trip to mull with Bradley the border collie. I loaded up the Q5 and off we set. All was fine until we went to bed down for the night. Bramley just wouldn’t  settle and would be biting at the zipper trying to open the tent.

I relented and we put the back seats down in the car and bedded down there for the couple days trip.

We done a couple of other weekend trips out the back of the car but knew it wasn’t feasible to continue like that.

I then spotted a cheap camper for sale quite close to us, had a look and decided it was more than suitable.

Need to work out how to add pics from iPad and will post before and afters.

I like the 'evilpie' look now and again i have done it several times in the past.   Is this your first time with it all off upstairs?  It's a nice option to have at our age when many blokes have no option.   How's the diet going?  finished now or carrying on til lockdown is over?

As for the pooch god he can jump out of the gym to use a basketball phrase.  Given he is relatively heavy i find that video hard to beleive it's true and not doctored.

That's nothing for a Mali, absolutely incredible animals and like Tom says incredibly intelligent.

They're basically a small German Shepherd but with the agility of a cat. Some amazing videos on t'internet of them doing things you wouldn't believe were possible.

I'd love one but they would be really hard work. Being so intelligent, powerful and energetic they need to be 'worked' or they'll go crazy.

I'll stick to Rottweilers..... They're basically mini lions. They just sleep and then wake up occasionally for a snack.

So many people don't consider this Matt.

Yeah there's so many dogs that I'd love to have as a companion one day but you have to get something to suit your activity levels.

I love border collies but you're looking at 3 hours per day minimum. Come on people..... It was bred to chase sheep!! Of course it can f**king run all day!!

Husky... Yes it's beautiful, wow look at those eyes.... That coat.... Get me that dog... What do you mean it's capable of pulling a cart 50 miles a day? Does that mean I can't just let it out in the garden a couple of times a day for a piss?

Morons...

Agreed Matt, my border is now 17 months old. On a normal day we are out 3 times a day for about 2 hours a time.  Weekends we generally spend a good part of the day out, can be anywhere between 5 & 7 hours then a late evening walk. He still wants to be active when we get home with his chew/ fighting toys.

Almost everyone in our village owns a dog and I see a few Husky and collie types that I know are being wasted as they are getting very little exercise in relation to which they should be getting.

There is a new law coming that will make trespass a criminal offence, it is designed specifically to target Gypsies and Travellers.

Most people will think it's a great idea... Until they get on the wrong side of it.

A lot of talk about this on most walking/wild camping forums with the threat that landowners will use this to prevent walking/camping on their land.  Luckily in Scotland we have right to roam with basic rules for walkers/campers which works with few problems.

Geo

Wild camping also allowed in Scotland if I'm not mistaken Geo?

Yes Tom and most landowners are fine as long as you stick to a basic set of rules:

Camp in small numbers.
Stay in one place for a maximum of three nights only.
Do not camp in enclosed fields of livestock or crops.
Camp away from buildings, roads and historic structures.
Take your litter with you.
Use a stove rather than a fire where possible.
Check advice on fire risk conditions.
Keep fires small, controlled and supervised.
Bury human waste and urinate 30 metres away from open water.
Remove all traces of your tent pitch – including any camp fire debris.

Local council in parts of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs have banned camping in a couple of areas where there have been problems with litter, cutting down trees and other unsociable acts. Caused unfortunately by the day-tripper types as opposed to regular wild campers.

I still spend a couple of days camping a few times a year, obviously lockdown has hindered this. It was my 60th in January and I usually like to get away for that week as I’m not one for all the fuss of birthdays and had planned to go across to Arran for a few days camping with the dog but unfortunately couldn’t. Hopefully get out there in April.

I heard that you can heat the contents of a can by placing it into a pan of water and boiling it. Apparently it won't explode.

If true what a great bit of Info. No more dirty pans to wash and you could heat two or three different things in the same pan without mixing them.

I have to try it. (I'm scared though)

Used to do this in my army days, pre boil in the bag. Just make sure to pierce the top of the tins before placing in the water

All well here Tom, thanks.

Lockdown doesn’t effect me much, since retiring and moving more rural my days consist mostly of walking and exercising a very demanding Border Collie

Due to our location we have all the space and choice of routes we need although we do miss our trips up the hills as that would entail a drive up to the Pentlands risking the wrath of the Edinburgh polis who are more visual than they ever were.

QuIte annoying that someone reporting their neighbour for COVID infractions will get a quicker response than someone reporting a burglary as a friend recently found out.

Cabinet Office drawn up horror show warning on what the country could face this winter. And it’s been leaked to the sun

As Brexit talks slip into acrimony, and covid second wave fears rise.. here is what is on the warning dashboard

cheery stuff

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12474511/emergency-plans-perfect-storm-no-deal-brexit-coronavirus-second-wave/

Devil you do, devil you don’t.

I would expect any government to have some plan on worst case scenario. There are no big surprises in this for anyone with a bit of sense but it's still used in an attempt to have a go at the government.

I’m actually more worried that if it is the actual government document, who leaked it and are these pricks at the scum paying individuals to leak this info.

Gutted to say the least. First met Mel at a blonde bash and had a great time with Mel, Ginger and Fran. Bumped into her many times around the UK when she was dealing at various comps. Always a joy.

RIP lady.
