Bitter-sweet kudos to whoever it was that put up Rybakina as a live longshot for Wimbledon a couple of years back.

It was Bergeroo putting up Magdaléna Rybáriková not Rybakina

Hi Tikay,

Is there anyway I can get the messages to update automatically when a new message is posted or do I have to keep refreshing it myself.

Thanks

You need to keep refreshing it yourself.

Mind boggling to think how much they make per year with this under hand practice.

If your account is in £££ when you play a tournament in $$$ it automaticlly does the exchange for you but if it isn't an exact amount it rounds it up in their favour.

The exchange rate is roughly 81.1p to the $1.

But they will take 82p from your acccount.

And if you win $2 they will pay you £1.64 (this time taking .2p for the transaction)

IIIRC this rounding up/down was the storyline of one of the Superman movies

EDIT: yes it was Superman 3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_III

The practice has a name apparently: Salami Slicing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salami_slicing_tactics#Financial_fraud

Eurosport Home Nations coverage.

Is it just me, or is the shot replay transition aggravating the tits off anyone else?

Not as annoying at the commentary by, I think, Dave Hendon. He insists on filling every second with facts & stats, & will not permit any "dead air". It's snooker, a wonderfully visual game, & if Ronnie misses an easy black, we can see that for ourselves.

"And he's missed it".

There also seems to be an obsession with "average shot time". (How long, on average, to take a shot). When did that become interesting? Since when has snooker been a race against the clock?

By contrast, some of the expert commentators are very good, especially Neil Foulds.

First world problems I suppose.

An old post but I'll reply to it, because it's interesting.

The Emperor of Snookert, Mr Hearn decided a few years ago that players should take no longer than 30 seconds per shot.

There was even talk of docking rankings points for players who took longer.

What a nonsense.

How about the other member of the 3 musketeers, that devoted hound, Snoopy?

What about Jungle Cat? Boltpp?

I've got a nasty case of nostalgia today.

I just had to email someone called Paul Garner, which made me think of that oddball Paul Garnham who used to frequent these parts

Whatever happened to him?

Hi Keith,

Change of subject, but whilst you are here....

Have you been messing about with the Wiki page of Achilleas Kallakis?

He attended the University of Buckingham where he met his future partner in crime Martin Lewis.

He was a regular on the Euro poker scene for a couple of years. I well remember him buying 9 of the 10 seats in a satty for 9k at Amsterdam one time.

He came to a sticky end it seems. Nice guy but clearly very dodgy

It's been a pretty long road, but finally have some good news to share.

I was dscharged from stroke tereatment last month, doctor said I've improved as much as I'm going to and there's no treatments will help my remaining problems, my left arm is still pretty weak and I've become extremely forgetful. But I'm alot better than I ever dreamt I'd be.

I was also suffering from heart failure, which meant my heart was only working at 8% of its normal rate, but yesterday I received my results of my most recent 3 monthly scan and it's back to 50%.

I'll be on a bucketload of pills for the rest of my life, but hopefully I'll be around for a least a few years to take them!

45  Community Forums / Betting Tips and Sport Discussion / You are the ref! on: January 26, 2022, 08:53:56 PM
Ok, let me try to describe an incident in Jake's U16 match last Sunday.

Attacker on the by line, but inside the penalty area. Defender facing up to him.

Attacker pushes the bll inside the defender and then runs off the pitch to get round him but as he tries to get back on the pitch, the defender also steps behind the line and pushes him to the groundto stop him getting the ball.

What decision should the ref give?
