In more rhubarb news John Major's legal case against Boris thrown out by the courts...

It was accepted that each House of Parliament will sit before UK leaves the EU on October 31 "and may consider any matter it chooses".

"The prorogation does not prevent Parliament from legislating on any matter it wishes. Parliament is capable of legislating at pace if it chooses to do so."

Conclusion is the highest court in Scotland found Mr Johnson's planned prorogation lawful.

So really the only crime on display here was utter snowflakery, wizard faux outrage and hocus pocus rhetoric

Such hocus pocus

This one guy said the Brexit party would enter a pact with Boris, this other guy said he would be ok with working with Boris, some folk who are sick of Brexit and want a resolution think teamwork to get a majority is an ok idea in theory. This all proves as FACT there's overwhelming support for No Deal.

We can't really put our finger on why this support exists, no real reason why Boris wants to 'crash out' or why overwhelming numbers reject trading with big markets and close neighbours but it's gospel truth. If a good deal was presented there's just no chance it would appeal to this overwhelming number. FACT!

All this Boris wants to crash us out of Europe is rhubarb. What actual reason would he have to prefer that over a deal? What Boris actually wants is to be PM with a majority. That’s undoubtedly a priority over the Europe issue.

In his shoes I’d survey the landscape and detect an electorate sick to death of Brexit. To target that desperation for resolution I would have a firm immovable deadline. This would help stimulate a deal from EU but the associated benefit is my opposition would seek to extend the deadline and keep the whole Brexit circus rolling on. I might appear miffed but hey joe electorate i did my best but the opposition blocked me.

So I would call a GE to deliver that definitive resolution. What’s this joe electorate the opposition are blocking this too, continuing to stall and faff, despite how much you desperately want resolution. The more times they say I’m not to be trusted it comes across that you, joe electorate, are not to be trusted. They kept saying let the people decide and now that chance arrives they deny you that decision.

Then I’d hit the campaign trail nice and early talking about domestic issues, more public spending. Whilst my opposition are still chatting Brexit, blocking, delaying and wah wahing.

I deffo wanted a deal and didn’t want a GE but hey joe electorate just remember who’s trying to deliver resolution, who’s trying to respect your referendum, who wants to give you a say, who’s talking about domestic and of course remember those chicken front pages of JCorbs who hasn’t presented any plan at all. Yep I’d do all that and get my marketing man Cummings to wrap it all up in a multi million pound social media package just before you head to the polls.

Aaron, all of a sudden it matters not that Boris & Cummings are dipshit lying racialist etc because they’ve been neutralised.

At some point that rhetoric had to change and now the baton of power has been wrestled into opposition hands that time has arrived. How is that power going to be used? What leadership and solutions are being proposed? What’s the plan? Using that power to say Boris & Cummings are dipshit lying racialist etc is both pointless and not a vote winner to an electorate hungry for resolution.

The idea for opposition to call a second referendum is flawed because the whole basis of ignoring the first is a conviction that politicians were saving people from inflicting great harm on themselves. It’s not tenable to ask again then shrug shoulders and say that noble pursuit of saving the country is now invalid

Everything happening this week works in Boris' favour for a GE though?
Everyone is standing in his way, vote for him, he will get the job done.
It the perfect narative for his election campaign.

No deal legislation goes through this week.
Corbyn reluctantly agrees to a GE.
Boris wins a majority.
Boris undoes the no deal legislation and doesn't ask for an extension.

He still has a split vote with the BP though and he really can’t allow no deal to happen, so I can’t see the last sentence. Corbyn should just pick the best time, there’s no need to reluctantly agree now.

I basically agree that there are a few things aligned in his favour.

It’s funny given the laws surrounding elections that No 10 is allowed pretend there is an election, when there isn’t 😊.

Yep funny that Boris is hitting the campaign trail already, talking to public about domestic affairs like police and health service.

After lengthy Brexit dither the public have huge appetite for domestic rhetoric

Labour focus on Stttoooppp Brexittt and little else will be big turn off

So funny

I think it’s the complete opposite. Everything is working against Boris.

It seems likely that when this bill passes that he will go again for an election. It seems likely that Labour will block this. Giving Labour an opportunity to plug a message of a failing Boris who couldn’t get us out before 31 Oct. It’ll get some votes for sure.

The biggest factor in this will be that most of the country are against no deal, some may want an end to it, but still don’t vote for a party that’ll go for that option. Brexit Party aren’t going to pick up enough seats to scratch the Tories back either. Not to mention the widely expected Tory loss in Scotland.

I genuinely think we will be in a similar position in a couple of months or have a government made up of LAB/LD/SNP/Green

Labour block exit and block GE and then sell a campaign message that Boris is at fault for failing to proceed? Good luck with that.

Most people might be against No Deal but they have sense enough to realise that taking it off the table leads to the ongoing paralysis. Most people are sick of this and want the paralysis to end.

Boris is at least proposing a definite end, Labour are not. This will carry a lot of traction in any GE...unless of course Labour actually propose something credible.

When somebody sneezes and another says 'bless you'. Never said that in my life but when others say 'bless you' it somehow makes me feel guilty for not saying it?!? But people can sneeze like 3 or 4 times so the first 'bless you' is delivered with enthusiasm and then just runs out of steam out after the third sneeze, so I'm thinking is 'bless you' a thing or not? If somebody does say 'bless you' with equal enthusiasm after a series of sneezes it sounds weird. Also 'bless you' for spreading all your germs everywhere?!? Can we just forget 'bless you' because protocol is not properly defined, it's inconsistent and confusing.

Can Remain explain their plan now opposition are driving the bus?

The surrender legislation gets passed and an extension potentially agreed. What happens if an extension is denied? Let's say an extension is in fact agreed and we invite continued crippling uncertainty for 'the good of the country'. We go to GE in November where clearly JCorbs can't win a majority so it would be either Tory majority or Tory/Brexit driving the bus and we're back to where we are now. Let's say it's a deadlock parliament and somehow JCorbs is driving the bus. What's the plan for negotiations then? EU won't amend WA and we know WA doesn't get through parliament. We also know that Labour won't plan for No Deal even though they criticise no plan and then criticise spending money on planning.

It's pretty easy to protest and wave flags or to chastise government for not answering questions but it's much different when you're actually in the driving seat. So here's your chance. Where's the bus going?

Block exit on Oct 31st, block GE, block referendum result, make government impotent, deny people a vote & alienate the public, EU see no sense in granting extension past Oct 31st anyway.

Aren't dithering Remain wizards doing well

Protests, demonstrations, placards all well and good but now errr….

Remain have been bleating ask the people forever

Hey presto chance to ask the people in GE

Nope let’s block that

More like they've put Dominic Cummings in check-mate.

Check-mate signals end of the game.

Unfortunately this means further endless delays and continuation of the crippling uncertainty

As long as you can best some nobody spin doctor it’s all worthwhile I’m sure

Let’s see what occurs today. Considering Boris is an inept, simpleton, evil dictator and liar the opposition should fist pump taking him on in an election

You forget to mention racist.

Forgot dipshit as well

Amazing that he goes well in a GE because only the enlightened few no the real truth.

Not really fair this voting business when only the few know best.
