Any chance you can do the day before - Tuesday to Tuesday?

Reason I ask is that for the time you're looking at, it's normally about 650/700 pp for the flights and that is priced into the quotes you've been getting above.

However, currently, flying 25th April to 2nd May is coming in at 511 each on the direct from Gatwick to Vegas, booking direct with BA. This could free up more hotel cash and you could potentially go to Aria or Bellagio.

dates are actually Wed 26th - Wed 3rd
Virgin package prices per person, including basic flight (we'll do a bit of baggage adding and maybe a bit of upgrading there)

PH - £1160
Cromwell - £1214
Paris - £1202 (MrsM not keen at all)
VDara - £1371
Bellagio £1503

What we thought PH had going for it was as it has a lower base price, getting an upgrade (pre-planned or $20 trick) could mean Bellagio fountain view.

Yeah I think for that price you can't really turn down PH.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

The spec has evolved a bit, because we're being joined by a couple of friends. We're going to day/evening trip Downtown, but stay on the strip for 7 nights.

We compared booking hotels direct, with third parties and as part of packages. We surprisingly found the cheapest way to to do it was with a package by some distance.

We don't really have the budget for Wynn, Venetian, Ceaser's, Cosmo, etc. We could just about stretch to Bellagio, but having weighed up all the reviews, decided against that in the end too.

We've actually almost settled on Planet Hollywood, based on central location, much more affordable. Holding off booking for a couple of weeks though, just in case I win the Goliath, in which case, we take another look at the five stars Smiley

We'll certainly do plenty of non-poker stuff (a show, Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam trip, drinks and dinners), but MrsM is also totally on board with me getting plenty of poker in. I'm going to try and get short sessions in at multiple card rooms, rather than long sessions in one or two.

I wouldn't. PH rooms gone massively downhill over the last couple of years - they're due a refurb.

I had a very quick look for the last week of April (Saturday 22nd to Saturday 29th) at hotels on Expedia.

PH was £1573 for that week.
Vdara was £1731
Cromwell was £1313
Ballys was £1242.
Paris was £1932
Bellagio was £2450
Aria and Cosmo were north of £2750.

That's pretty much everything center-south Strip. With those prices, and what you've said already ITT, I'd rate them as Vdara > Cromwell > Paris > Ballys > PH based on price/rooms. Not sure what others would suggest. Vdara is non-smoking/not a casino hotel if that is an issue though.

Simon Deadman.

Moved to Vegas if I remember correctly with Shola, they got married and had a son. I imagine he's grinding live cash out there.

So for the Tony Kendall Cup we have:

Tal
Ironside
Karma
ChipRich
bobby1
Forth
bergeroo
stevef31

Just waiting on Sicilian and Tighty to confirm.

I'm assuming everyone is also in for the 2QB league? I've sent a message to Sicilian and Tighty (or at least I will after this post) because there's less than a month until we start so we really should be rookie drafting asap.

As for redraft, doesn't look like that will be going ahead. bobby1 suggested on Sleeper a best ball league - in summary we draft a 25 player squad before the season starts, all skill players (QB/WR/RB/TE/Flex), no defence or kickers. You then don't need to do anything, just leave it and watch the results. Your team is decided by the highest scorers from your squad in each position. The downside of it is that you can't change your squad at all, so if both your RB's get hurt/get COVID, tough luck. This can also be played in 2 ways...standard H2H like we have done in redraft etc, or as a simple league table based on the number of points you score.

I'd be up for it - anyone else, even those who have never played before as a nice introduction to Fantasy NFL?

Wow. Shocked.

As others have said wasn't a close friend but was always happy and easy to chat to at Bashes and the like.

RIP.

I'm up for redraft if we get enough players, or maybe a best ball league as that is a one and go.

If anyone has any more Dynasty leagues that have spaces and are on Sleeper, Yahoo or NFL.com, I'm always up for more leagues, but $50 max entry fees. Can't afford big money leagues this year as buying a house.

PSA: The Sleeper app has changed on Android (dont know about Apple). I needed to uninstall and reinstall it from the Play Store. When I went into my Play Store apps it didnt show Sleeper, even though it was installed, and I couldn't update it. Others may need to do this as well.

If your consultant is a surgeon, they will go by Mr/Mrs/Miss.

If not, they generally go by Dr.

Ah! Thank you.

He's not a surgeon so he's a Dr.

Start planning drafts for new season?

Last season we began rookie drafts for established Dynasty Leagues on August 16th. Sounds like a good time to kick it all off again.

Also, everyone coming back? I'm in for all 3 leagues (Redraft, Dynasty, 2QB Dynasty (which I think is the Tony Kendall dynasty)) assuming they all run, of course.

Agree it would be smashing to see John win it, but let's not forget GB has 3 players in the Top 10.

In addition to John (10th with 22,450,000), we have...

Phillipe Souki (3rd, 32,475,000), who I understand is a very popular regular at The Vic.

Andy Taylor (8th, 23,900,000) who amongst other successes, won the SPT Grand Final in Manchester in 2019.

Any of those three would do nicely for me, & might just give domestic poker a shot in the arm.

Domestic poker is dead. The Government has made it that way with the requirements for live casinos to KYC. Now most of the old regs aren't willing to prove, or can't due to dubious legality, where they source their funds from so they're not playing in casinos. They're playing cash in private games. I knew this was going to happen when it was brought in.

Private games will be dead soon also I reckon. The fish won't last forever, and if you look at new players, they're learning online and play quite nitty, which private game players hate, so there's no influx. It's booming now but give it a couple of years and they'll die as well.

I think cash is probably suffering, but the recent GUKPT events have been amongst the biggest ever.

Cash is really suffering. Tournaments bar big events also seem to not be doing well, especially in the Midlands. 3 tournaments at Birmingham per week. 2 at Coventry. Walsall the outlier but that is slightly to be expected given it's history and reputation. Bury New Road also doing horrendously, they ran a £30 self deal last Thursday and got 1 table ffs.
