With around 17k in the pot by the flop, a faceless Paul Lammas bet 7.2k from the button. Mr Steve Vine dwelled, huffed and puffed a bit, and then folded before wandering off for a minute to refocus or something. A grape move for Lammas against the Vine, and he's up to 40k. Still no face:

Dewi Does A Brave Thing...or not, depending on what his cards were. With the board reading , Eddie Lundon in the big blind bet out around 8k. Dewi made a face for a bit, before somewhat resignedly announcing that he was all in . An insta-fold later and Dewi was up to 35k or thereabouts, while Lundon was down to a mere 15k. Very happy with this result:

Hurrah, down to just 78 now. Early night looking promising. Latest to go is Andrea Gough who got it all in with Q-J against the delightfully named John Dick's A-K. Not sure when it went in although I suspect it was preflop. Nevertheless, the T-2-5-9-5 board offered a glimmer of hope before spitting that glimmer back in Gough's face and sending her hurtling to the proverbial rail. Mr Dick on around 45k now.

Unlike Button, plenty of short stacks are still hanging in by the merest thread, and don't seem to be afraid of sacrificing a significant chunk of their meagre chip reserves to the bluffy gods. An interesting battle developed between relative short stacks Barrie Cooper (SB), Kate Langshaw (BB) and Ken Wheatley (B). All three players checked a flop and Cooper checked the turn too. Langshaw tried it on for 2.5k, but the bet was so good it got called twice. Come the river, it checked around to Wheatley, who bet 4.5k. Cooper called, Langshaw folded and Wheatley just mucked before Cooper had turned over the for a full house. Current Wee Stack Standings: Ken Wheatley: 18k Barrie Cooper: 25k or so Kate Langshaw: 20k

We're down to just 90 players already, still rather too many for my liking if I'm going to be driving home tonight, but definitely an improvement on our 107 starters.
Latest to go is the curious Caroline Button. Somehow down to mere pocket change after starting the day with an admittedly not-great 14k, she got it in with 7-8 offsuit against the A-Q of the youthful Charles Flynn and the, er, A-Q of moderately youthful Gurpreet Nagi. An ace on the board, a split pot for the gents, and a nice Sunday afternoon off for Button.

One early unfortunate heading for the door is Karabiner. Wrongly reported OUT last night by both DTD and us (turns out someone mistook him for Red Dog ), he took a chance early doors and got it in with pocket sixes against A-J. Ace first card out. Ul, wp Karabiner.

Sunny days for Gurpreet Nagi, as he kills two poker-playing birds with one stone, er, two clubs, umm, something like that. With Demetrios Nikolaidis already all in somehow by the turn of the board, Shaun King decided to stick his chips in too, at which point I arrived at he scene. Sunny thought about for a moment, before announcing, "I have to call." "Do you have trips?" asked King. "No." "Do you have a straight? A flush draw?" Sort of. Sunny turned over and King's head sunk into the felt as he turned over . River: Nikolaidis couldn't beat top pair queen kicker either, and both players headed off to do whatever it is people do at 2am when they've busted out of the tournament (cash, imo). Gurpreet Nagi up to a whopping 75k+. Click to see full-size image. |
