13457  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: De Wolfe getting hammered by........... Colin Murray?! on: June 18, 2007, 05:28:30 PM

Lets get this clear murray knowing nothing about poker is not necessarily a problem,

Its a problem to me!  Its like when I see ex footballers on the telly who where no better than average or indeed tossers like Hansen who where decent but never took on the reigns as a manager criticise managers for their tactical know how.

Its a big part of my enjoyment when watching something that requires an analytical perspective - I enjoy watching, hearing presenters who can make a worthy comment and not just stoop to levels of abusing and becoming critical of players.

How can you criticise a pundit when you've never done it?

Easily!  And stop taking the hump because the big fairy was a Liverpool Leg-End.  Smiley

He's criticising managers - but has never been a manager himself.  You think that's wrong.
You're criticising pundits - but you've never been a pundit yourself.  Mmmm....

I like Hansen and Colin Murray.

LOL- I like the logic.

I agree with the poster earlier- it's the fact he tries to analyise a game he probably knows next to zilch about

I love it when he compares the tournament to his home games.

I don't mind Colin Murray.  He's no worse than any of the football commentators who spout a lot more nonsense than he does.

I don't think he'd claim to be a poker expert - that's the role of the person alongside him (Duthie, Raymer, etc.).

And I would agree with you kinboshi if he didnt try and analyise the game.

Classic example- guy utg has about 8 bb's left finds K10- auto push.

Murray berates him for pushing with such a weak hand when he gets called by AQ

Then 4 limpers into a pot- De Wolfe has AQ, he's been rising with all sorts of shite earlier- Murray then comments on the fact that De Wolfe is turning the hand into a crapshoot by raising (WTF?) even tho he induces a big bluff from Nick Slade with J9

Stick to raido Colin (which you're shite at too incidentally)

Anyone else watching EPT???

Colin Murray is laying into De Wolfe big time- to be fair he's not making the best reads but Murray makes some ridiculous comments about people's play.

Anyone else think he's a shit commentator?

No he's not under any obligation to deal but personally I would ship the money back.

People make mistakes and I can only imagine how he felt putting his whole bankroll on one heads up match accidentally.

Yes it was his own fault and he's a noob for registering but I'd like to think I'd show a bit of class and ship him the dough back once support arrived

Personally I thought the worst cash game player was John McGill- appropriate name for a cash game fish
13463  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Smokers are Mad, Bad, & Sad. on: June 05, 2007, 09:24:36 AM
I can't imagine how difficult it is giving up smoking.

I have never smoked and never will but I'm currently trying to lose some weight and can't stop eating all the pies so I can only imagine how hard it is to give up something which is actually addictive.

That being said I cannot wait for July 1st. Despite having non smoking card rooms- I always come home stinking of cigarette smoke, gets everywhere- on my clothes and in my hair.

Will also be nice taking the kids down to the local without fear of passive smoking.
13464  Poker Forums / The Rail / "Mr Smokey" takes down event #1 on: June 04, 2007, 04:44:48 PM
A changing of the guard perhaps?

Steve "Mr Smokey" Billirakis has taken down event 1 at just 21 years and 10 days old. A quite remarkable feat.

I read all the poker forums and a lot are believing that this will be the year of the internet pro.

Other "young guns"  predicted to cause a stir are Sorel "Imperium" Mizzi and Jared "The WacoKidd" Hamby. Both have had multiple 6 figure live scores.

Just wondered what other blondes think?  Are young internet whizzkids destined to rule the WSOP???
13465  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: apat structure on: June 04, 2007, 03:24:04 AM
Having played in two APAT tourney's- my personal opinion is the structure is great

I have played in a few higher buy in tournaments with less starting chips and a 45 min clock so to get 10k with 5 mins less for 75 quid all in is a bargain.

In any tournament, no matter what the structure you're gonna encouter conflection points where the chips start to fly in.  That's the nature of tournament poker.

I'm off to bed now after a very fruitless Sunday.

GG life!

Well done Tikay- I had the pleasure of your company for most of the 300 pound event but unfort. was too short stacked to hand around for much of the final table.
