1  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Fold Equity question on: July 11, 2008, 01:23:37 AM
Cheers for that.

I did shove though thinking I'd be against the BBs KQ or JQ. I put the min-raiser (and original raiser pre-flop) on AK or possibly a set of 10s or Jacks cos he hasn't played many hands. Anyways, BB humps and haws and then reluctantly folds. UTG+2 calls almost immediately once he finds out it's $97 more.

We don't turn our hands over until the turn and river come out -  - So I say "Your Ace-King wins mate" and then he tables  - I then said "Nice hand you played that well to him, you really caught me out there" cos I reloaded but actually I thought "You're a f****goldstar muppet".

Anybody call here with 2nd pair rubbish kicker in this spot even though it's only $97 more? I would have mucked it against a player who hasn't been out of line..
2  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Fold Equity question on: July 10, 2008, 09:31:50 PM
Yo, not posted for a while cos I've been travelling. In Vegas at the mo' playing a mix of cash & tourney. Anyways...

Palms Casino - $1/$3 - 10 handed - been at table about 45 minutes, played quite tight but raised last 3 out of last 5 pots but also had to lay down aces in the previous hand. Usually though table seems pretty loose and weak, any raise is getting called by rubbish like K10o.

UTG+2 (not played many hands, so can presume tight player?) raises to $10

I'm sitting in CO with - I flat call. BB also calls.

Flop -  - $31 in pot

BB bets out $30, UTG+2 min-raises to $60. Both have me covered. I have $157 left. If I push, which is reasonable as I have 12 clean outs twice (4 Jacks, 8 for flush), do you think I also have fold equity here based on what I have left or do I need more info on how my opponents play first?

Sorry, not posted for a while, been travelling for 2 months. This might be a brag post but you may be interested:

I was at UFC 86 last Sat and it was a quality card and atmosphere. The yanks can be annoying (like when they boo fights) but man they can create an atmosphere.
Most of the fights were pretty decent - Miller & Gurgel had a great fight, I was impressed by Miller, he submitted a black belt in BJJ and Rich Franklin's BJJ coach/training partner so good win for him. Guillard got a sick KO on Siver, ditto Gonzaga with a submission on McCully, catch that if you can. With Tyson Griffin I really wanted him to get beat, he can never finish a fight and to be honest I don't think he tries to when he knows he's ahead in rounds. Koscheck did fight well but I don't like watching this guy fight. Big Dog let me down for a nice payday when he lost to Cote, worst fight of the night, and it was no split - Cote had rounds 2 & 3 IMO. Really disappointed with Almeida cos he is normally a real good fighter, maybe still a bit cage rusty.

Main event was sick, the roof went off the place, most were cheering for Griffin. I had him win 2,3 & 5 don't know if I would have given him a 10-8 though for round 2. Cracking fight to watch live, maybe not as good when I catch it on DVD.

Saw a few fighters as I was going in, got pic taken with Gray Maynard and also shouted at Cheick Kongo (massive chest!) and CB Dolloway from TUF7, also heard Diego Sanchez & Bisping were kicking about the slot machines.

Training out at Xtreme Couture for a month as well in kickboxing so hopefully I'll bump into Forrest, Kampmann, etc...

Yip defo brag post!

Aye, sad loss. He always got stick from us Gers fans but that meant he was regarded as a fine coach. Shame he never got a run as Scotland boss.

RIP

It was a disgrace what the small section of Rangers "fans" did but I have to admit some parts were poorly organised/run by the police/security. We went to the Piccadilly fanzone about 2pm and it was rammed with supporters, it took 10 minutes to get in and 20 minutes to get out (we didn't stay long cos it was unbearable) People were pushing each other to get out and a few folk squared up. One guy even puked over his mates head cos there was no space around him to do it elsewhere and when we left they were still letting supporters in!! I hardly saw any police or security at all and there was no control, certainly at Piccadilly anyway.

Still it was a great day out, pants game though and I'm raging at Walter Smith for his tactics but all-in-all we've done well this season and are dead certs for the league title.

I'll have the popcorn out for next week's Champy League battles.

Yes, the two decisions were shocking (the penalty more than the other) but Levein won't mention how badly his team defended the three goals, will he! That's how he lost the game, it wasn't entirely cos of the ref. I can remember Hearts fans complaining like this against Rangers earlier on in the season and not one of them mentioned how bad they played nor how the defenders were posted in Iraq when the goals went in. Dry your eyes mate, refs will always be inconsistent.

Bystandard raising out of the small blind we are inviting the bb to call or shove with fold equity. If he calls we are obv OOP for the entire hand if he gets shoved on cant call K9h.

By shoving we are heaping the pressure on, and may even get A2/A5 to fold here. Either way we are taking the decision away from ourselves and putting it on our opponent, who knows that 3rd place pays £0. 15/16bb is fine to do this in this situation imo, id prob even stretch to close to 20bb. By 3x raising we are opening ourselves up to difficult situations in this spot.

Big risk chancing 19k to win only 1k is it not? I don't mind a standard raise in this spot against a tight player. I can see how a push can work here but it's too risky for me versus what's on offer. Hate the limp though.

I'd probably lead out on the flop here, about $3. If he flat calls you're probably good, obviously if he raises you'd have to re-assess. I don't like a check much here as it does not leave you much wiser, he could CB here with anything after you check.

$0.10/$0.25 6-max online

Hero: $26.75
Villain: $51.05

Villain UTG+2 makes it $0.85 which has been the standard raise.

Hero on Button looks at  , Hero calls (in hindsight, a terrible mistake)

All else fold and flop is:

- Pot = $2.05

Villain pots it, Hero raises to $5. Villain re-raises to $20, essentially putting us all-in? Call or a tight fold?

Out of 30 hands at a 6-max table this is the first hand the villain has raised. VP is 17% but small sample. Our play has been standard, not overly aggressive or tight.

Me and a few mates are renting a transit van, shoving a couple of mattresses in the back and docking it in an NCP car park in the city centre. No hotel to shell out for and don't need to battle with 100,000 folk looking to get a taxi to their digs, quality!

If opponent is a serial CB'er check-calling and making a value bet on the turn seems fine here. Sometimes I don't mind making a weak lead as well on the flop, maybe around half the pot. At this level it looks more like a weak/probe bet than a value bet so the original raiser might get frisky with a lesser hand.

Bisping's fighting Leben at 85 in London, Hughes vs Alves is now the main event after Chuck's injury. Evans is fighting James Irvin. Looks a decent card even though Chuck won't be there.

I see Chuck Liddell has pulled out of his fight with Evans due to an injury. I can't see Evans fighting on this card now, there's no headline opponents left I can think of - Silva, Jackson and Griffin are all fighting soon and Rua is injured. I can see them pulling a fight forward like Florian vs Huerta to headline instead.
15  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Omaha mtt advice on this hand on: April 22, 2008, 12:39:30 PM
I would fold pre-flop, 5567 is not a hand I'd get involved in at this stage even on the button.

As played, you have bottom set on a draw heavy board in a multi-way pot, not a great situation. You have said the villain is a decent player so I would doubt she would lead into a multi-way pot with just a pair of Jacks, therefore she probably has a made hand or a good draw. You also have position so I'm happy to play it passively here and just call and see what the turn brings.
