My only experience of cash games has been the 25PL at Star City (I don't play Omaha). I've only played in it 3 times and didn't enjoy it despite being ahead (I keep records). I won't play in that game again. The main reason for this is the blind structure. There's no big blind...both blinds are 1 which, to my mind, creates a 'bingo like' situation where 8 out of 10 players call preflop so it's not really my cup of tea. I'm just not comfortable when having to guess who's got what EVERY.
If I had deeper pockets then I might consider it but I'd much prefer it to be NO LIMIT then if someone wants to call a raise of 24 'just because they have 42os in their hand' (yes this happened!..no names) then let it be potentially for their whole stack and if they call my all in and outdraw me fair do's...
Having said that, my best tourn results have been in PL so the crux of the matter for me is the lack of a BB.
If anyone knows why they don't have a BB then I'd like to hear about it...esp when people can introduce a BB by 'betting blind'.....
Cheers.

Cheers for the welcome Dani and Ian (yep...I remember meeting u at Star City...pretty 'interesting table' if I remember rightly).
Will pass on your good wishes to Tom...I did tell him he'd be missed at Walsall...he wasn't sure as to whether or not they'd miss his wallet more than his warm/uplifting personality....I assured him it was the latter...fingers well and truly crossed behind my back!
I should be seeing him Tuesday and if all's well he'll be back home the following week. He's itching to play so it won't be long before he's back in the mix again....

Agreed! ...
I've just been browsing old threads and Red's comments consistently get me chuckling (some great characters on here!). I could/will spend hours reading posts on this forum but that's my lot for tonight as my laundry is done and dusted...btw Spoke to Tom Burns earlier and he really appreciated the good wishes from you all.

Thanks to the following for a warm welcome to the forum:
Kev, Maroon, Tight End and Robert HM
It's approaching 4am and I've just got in from a night of 9-Ball and poker at a mate's house. Managed to break even on the night thanks to winning at 9-Ball and a couple of 'last longer' bets when finishing on the bubble in 2 out of 3 games.
Gonna sit back with a cuppa and kill some time reading posts while doing laundry!!

Hi Red Dog,
Thanks for the welcome and goodwill. Your suggested nickname (tho clever:You in advertising?) might just draw too much flack when at the table so I won't be adopting it in a hurry.
Got an appointment to play 9-Ball in a bit then a 'home game' after so will check in during the wee hours.
Till later,
Will

Thanks for the welcom Tikay,Ironside. Tom's in good spirits and he'll be up and about next week. I used the forum to update him on the WSOP as he's having laptop trouble...looks like he'll finally be able to get online later today to get a much needed fix!!
Be well,
Will.

Hi all,
I heard about this site/forum from my mate Tom 'the fire' Burns during the last 300 freezeout at Walsall. I think the Tournament Live pdate' feature is excellent. Thanks for the WSOP coverage as well as the insightful journal from Rob Yong. A job well done!
I've been playing 'Hold'em' for the past two years (home games) and have recently (past 2mths) started visiting casinos to try my hand in 10/20 tourny's (Star City:Wed/Thur, Gala:Fri). Generally, the experience has been a good one in terms of results and the people/characters I've met.
I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and will be coming out of retirement from online poker to lock horns in any 'in house' online tourny's.
Incidentally, Tom Burns is in hospital in Sheffield (in good spirits, he'll be back in Brum in the next 2wks or so). I'm going up to see him again next wk so will pass on any messages.
Right then, that's me for now.
Cheers, Will.
