They gambled that they were the only club he would go to and therefore would get the price they wanted if they waited. That wasn't the case but at least they haven't overpaid. This window has shown that they aren't going to throw a load of money again like they did with Kenny. A longer term plan this time. Small steps.

Disagree with the view that Newcastle put up any sort of a fight against Chelsea. They looked pretty rubbish imo but they were impressive against spurs. Agree with red. They are the better team. Adam Johnson is pretty overrated. Got a fair amount of talent but not got the brain to use it. Not often he picks the best option available to him.

Think Fletcher is decent, maybe slightly overpriced but you're paying for goals. Probably a lazy signing as their must be somebody out there that can get the goals for less but it's not horrible.

Jarvis is overpriced. Amazed at the difference in fees between him and Kightly. I'd rather try and get an untested Championship winger than pay the big fee for him. Plenty have made the step up and not struggled. Pilkington, Dyer, Sinclair, Jarvis, Kightly. Get them before they cost a shed load imo.
