When I read Keith Richards' (auto?)biography, I was amazed that he could remember as much as he did.

Ha, agreed, it is called "Life" & it is a joy to read.

Ditto, I would say, "Scar Tissue", by Anthony Kiedis.

Lord knows how either of them have any recall at all, all things considered.

Scar tissue best autobio I've ever read and right up there in top books I've read

Showing your hand should never kill it. Unfortunately not all places agree with this.

Quite a few people post on Tikay's diary that they have no idea what's going on with the Omaha hands but still enjoy the updates. Well that's me with blackjack. Haven't got a scooby why I'd want a 3-2 table instead of a 6-5 but still love reading, great wordsmithery Sir.

If your first two cards are Ace and a Ten then you have blackjack. At 3/2 $10 pays $15, and at 6/5 it only pays $12.This is massive with regards to the house edge; it increases is by around 1.3 or 1.4%

Is there no adjustment to dealer's play to counteract this? Do we get a win instead of a push when the house also has blackjack?

on a 3-2 table you can take even money if the dealer is showing an ace and you have blackjack (any true gambler never takes even money and I only ever take it when I have a substantial amount on the box ).. this is not an option offered on a 6-5 table

That's even worse; taking even money is akin to taking insurance and has a house edge of 8%ish

It doesn't really matter if immigration creates a net contribution ..that's really not the point..its about how that money is used. Generally this has been used to make rich people richer and this really can't be argued either.

We need some serious tax and spend to correct the inequity we have which is deepened by having a bottomless pool of low waged labour. So if the clever and better educated remains would care to share some of their booty then there really.might not be any issues

I've long argued that this money should be invested in infrastructure, but unfortunately the only time I've heard a politician ever say the same was Ed Miliband on question time a few weeks before the referendum Sad

Those of us who still live in working class areas that are seeing abject poverty day in day out and seeing all local services on the brink due to overuse.  We are not blaming the migrants for this we blame successive Labour and Tory governments.  But we need to realise that in certain areas there are problems with migrants.  That is why UKIP are on the surge, they play to the fears.  Labour have refused to listen to these concerns and that is why they are on the ropes.

The reason public services are squeezed is due to government cuts and a lack of investment.

June was a splendid month, our best by post count since September last year, 27% up on last month, & 80% up on the dreadful April figure.

"Exceptionals" were the key - the politics thread positively rattled along, so at least blonde were winners from Brexit. Tighty's contribution there was immense.

Mere ran, or is still running, several comps, too, these always help with engagement, & we'd be much poorer without Mere. It's good to see so many people appreciate his input, too.

Fred, where we get so much traffic, was actually much quieter in June, as there was so much other stuff going off, & Tighty can only spin so many plates. He tends to stimulate discussion on there when time permits. Even so, Fred made a rather splendid £989 in the month, which is terrific. Not bad for a free to view thread.

So, all is not lost, & we are still trundling along. Be nice to have a few more months like June, mind. We might just have a General Election soon, that'll help, too.

Good news. I will hope for a GE!

Do you have stats over a period of time for tft p&l? Shocked

who did you vote for in leadership election g2l?

I'm not a member of any party but I'm pragmatic enough not to vote for Corbyn.

Saying that none of the Labour candidates were inspirational. As much as people despise Blair he was a leader and had charisma.

Chuka is the shining star of the party. Shame he withdrew his candidacy
Oh I thought you were for some reason.

My guess is he realised what a shitstorm he would be signing up for with no real hope of winning in 2020 so reserved his run for the future.

Blair was super charismatic, and he was really very very popular. He did win three elections. People forget that.

If people were able to re-frame and

a) not see a party leader's sole purpose as getting elected
b) think more long term

We'd all be a lot better off.

Farage for example, has shifted the whole debate around immigration to a completely different place than it was without even a sniff at power - so much so that all parties pretty much tallk his language about controlling immigration even though their actions would suggest they don't really want to.

Corbyn (or his like) with time, could do the same in more beneficial areas. The important thing, for real change, is to win the debate about where the debate should take place - not whether you're in power or not.

I agree with this entirely.  It's the reason I voted for him in the leadership election. I didn't really think he would win in 2020 but I figured he could do a lot of work with the party to shape who they are, what they are doing and all the other questions. It really was to bring new ideas and new ways of thinking into the party. I envisaged him either leaving before the election for someone to bring everything together or after the 2020 election. I truly believed that labour winning that election wasn't a possibility, but they could have in 2025.

No the blairites are in the minority of the 170 who showed no confidence in jc today. it includes genuine left wing mps, not just red Tories. Many of those would be seen as core Labour to any Labour voter.

Corbyn is driving his own agenda. If he truly cared for this country he woke step aside to give Labour a fighting chance.

If an election was called and he was in situ God knows who id vote for

The "plot" against him was hatched ages ago and this was their chance to enact it 13th June http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/13/labour-rebels-hope-to-topple-jeremy-corbyn-in-24-hour-blitz-afte/

The savinglabour.com domain was registered Friday! There's been some meticulous planning in the wings.

stick a donate button on there and have it show the % donated of the costs required for the month (say it's £400 then after £40 in donations it shows 10%). A few places do that and you shouldn't be 5k out of pocket a year
