First of all there's always time for a quick third raise pre...if you're Thomas Middleton...  The cutoff makes it 900, the button reraises to 3,900, and Middleton calmly puts in enough chips to commit either of his potential opponents from the small blind (10,150).  The original raiser passes quickly, but the button takes quite a while and a couple of head shakes to pass his face up...

Why do people do this, it tilts the hell out of me and isn't very smart. What do they want a sodding round of applause.

End rant.

they do it mainly to let the aggresive players on the table thay they have very small testicles and they can be pushed around. I am sure the other players wont be reraising him much later on Wink

i agreee with the ruling to certain extent as saying "I bet the pot" is a specific declaration of a bet size.

what about if a player says "I bet 60% of the pot" or " half the pot" though? does the dealer have to count the pot and do the math (as some would struggle I reckon).

69  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: is this angle shooting, correct ruling or victimization ? on: November 07, 2008, 10:48:16 AM
dont think its angle shooting its just standard dumb pub players.

ruling should be his hand is dead as he has chucked it face up exposing his cards when action is still to take place. The fact there is no line doesnt matter- he has clearly folded his hand by throwing it face up into the community cards. Having said that pub games tend to be friendly/non serious affairs where cards are often shown and comments are regularly made by players not in the pot so I wouldnt worry about it too much. If you want serious poker go to proper tournaments held at casinos/dtd wherever. If you want a giggle and a drink go to pub games.

My degree dissertation was "The Use of Prime Numbers in Mathematics Through History", if I can find a copy I could link to it - it's a really interesting read. Honest.

It's sub title was, "A Brief History of Prime", although apparently I'm not the only one who has thought of this idea.

If you didn't number the pages in your dissertation 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 etc I'll be disappointed.

No, I got into enough trouble as it was.

I can't remember the percentage but it got a "2:1" grade - the feedback I got was that I could have got a "first" grade if I had a bit more mathematical rigour and a bit less puns and gags.

Pah!  Rigour is over-rated, especially when there are gags and puns to be made.

So anyway, the Riemann hypothesis...

That pretty much covers it.

if it does cover it go claim your million.

I've only read the last couple of pages on here but I presume this conversation tangent has already covered the Beal conjecture? Far easier problem for people to get their heads round imo.

Man how is this difficult.
You bought 25% which means you get 25% of the seat won. Why do people move the goal posts after they win summut. Forget trying to sell back the share just have 25% of the next event, you both must have known this seat was added before the event began and if not who cares.

^^what he said.

Why would anyone want to fall out with someone who has been good enough to back em over a few quid?

he may win the vote but will he be in the whitehouse for long? How many nutters are there in america? I remember eddie murphy once covering the fact jessie jackson may get elected president and he would have to give all his speaches running around from left to right to make himself a harder target to hit. Sad state of affairs but there are too many racists over there with guns and I reckon he is odds on to be the next JFK
73  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: What happened to the Brian Wilson thread? on: October 23, 2008, 11:42:13 AM
the people abusing have nothing to do with whats gone on and most of them wouldn't know brian if he sat next to them in a pub.

Its between the wronged parties and Brian as far as I am concerned. We all know plenty ex players (or even some current players) who have had problems and screwed over their mates. How many of them try and put things right?

I wish Brian all the best and hope he manages to get his life back together and make ammends with all the parties he wronged.

Does he owe you?

dont be stupid- nobody owes me anything as I never have anything to give to anyone. I wasnt doing the attacking of him though.

I do know of several other blonde members though who are still welcomed with open arms and never a bad word is said about them even though they have done exactly the same as brian. One who seems to be getting plaudits lately had a lot of people over when he went skint and disappeared off the scene- now he's back (as if nothing had ever happened) he hasn't even bothered contacting the people he owes to say "sorry mate will sort you when I get a touch" or whatever. This person was housed, fed and loaned money on the strength it was sat there in an account- him being a good friend and well respected player with no history of turning people over it wasnt a problem. A week later boom hes gone and not been heard from in a couple of years. Now he is back playing and winning comps in another part of the country and hasnt even bothered to phone/email message or anything- thats the sort of person I would gladly have a pop at and look forward to sharing a table with (hopefully he will show his face in blackpool next month).

At least brian is trying to sort things out and not just forgetting the past (and expecting everyone else to do the same)- he knows he fcked his mates and would like to put things right.

not as far as brian's concerned posting it on a public forum, there wasnt even any real stick on the thread, i was surprised by the lack of it, dont know why he had it removed, though its beyond me why you would do something like that publicly anyway.

a lot of people who aren't aware fully of what went on flamed and abused brian and generally acted against the ethos of blonde. A lot of posts were deleted and the thread was getting very heated. What seemed a genuine apology for his conduct and an offer of an olive brach span round with people unconnected trying to ram the olive branch up his arse then kick him while he was down.
