Funny that, I think I escorted you off the premises wishing you luck in your future! Paul was the AGM and card room manager and Zak was a punter in the Shaftesbury! get your facts straight. I worked with Zak at Sergeant Yorkes (yes the old grosvenor) Zak is a sound bloke who knows his stuff especially in the cardroom. Would never say a bad word against him! If you are denying your employment was "teminated" then thats your perogative. Truth is it is personal as I know the truth, but I am legally not allowed to put it on here!

Not trying to be the bad guy, I didn't pose as a customer to dis your casino!!
"the only concern of mine and walsalls if giving the poker players the best possible service" Carry on the good work....thats what you are employed to do! As I am!
Thanks for the education!!
Paul is a top bloke and a sterling card room Manager and I like him, think he liked me when he offered me the job 2 years ago!!

I didn't mean for that to come across as a whinge about poor pay. I was just stating a fact that only poker players and the upper casino management would get anything out of gettin people through the door. I enjoy my job, and if I wanted more money could get it. But I happen to like the people that come in. Even if they do rile me at times. Most card room supervisors/managers do otherwise they wouldnt be able to spend years in the same place. I also find they all want to improve and expand their own card rooms. This is pride. They don't do it for more money. They do it to advance the game, and like to think their own little card room is the best. It's an Ego thing I'm sure. Thats why I do it anyway. Of course we all whinde slightly about pay, but you will probably find its not all money with us.
Yogi
This Opinion is shared and understood by all card room managers. Don't you dare give up Yogi we will triumph one day LOL My own feeling is that poker is growing to such an extent that at some stage casino's will part with card rooms and be run as a seperate entity (i.e. Gutshot's) and purely be run for the poker players! Our experience and persistancy will pay off, and we will be able to do our jobs (which we love) on higher wages and with the attitude that we deserve. Reputation at the moment is highly sort after, so we have to do the best with what we have got at the moment! If that means taking crap from money men, then so be it. I am in the unusal position that MY money men seem to want poker, but the pit bosses face is a picture when I tell him that I need 2 extra staff!!

I dont know why, but some casinos see poker players as a pain in the arse (mind you I could agree with them about some ) but I have witnessed some casinos when they have had no poker available and they are like ghost towns. Getting an extra 70 - 100 players through those doors is valuable to the casinos ,as they only need a small % to play the house games. So Bluewolf, dont ever think the poker players will be the only ones to benefit, trust me, casinos need poker players. Stop throwing spanners in the works LOL THIS IS ABOUT OUR EGO'S

I thought there was a truce its getting nasty in here. HEHEHEHEHE. There is plenty of players for you boys to fight over. I know what u mean about location Dik9. For years the good old never changing management in Blackpool have been warned about anywhere opening in Manchester could rip the heart out of the card room. Lo and behold. Finally it has happened. All be it only on one night. WHat is there response? ?? A chnage of schedule to take them on. All well and good. When asked about reg fees or food or something extra for the players to fight against the reg free and free food they get in Manchester. Stony Silence. The management( and myself a teeny weeny bit) sat on their laurels as no one could touch us. Not so now. I pray for them to challenge us directly on another night. Then perhaps management will start to listen to the people that know the players and give us some leeway. Yogi and hence why walsall has been so successful in previous years, due to the fact that the management have been 100% supportive, as i imagine they are at the broadway. this i feel is cruciial to securing a top status in poker players minds, even if at times you leave it late to see someone elses approach or fail to heed warnings. the fact that both willingness to make changes . At the end of the day the players will be the real winners here as long as the quest to attract the most doesnt get too silly and become about 1up manship Here Here

The card room capacity itself will be 110 from Friday (perminantly). But we have another area that may be used for a cardroom but not in this mini festival. All depends how successful it will be!
