9571  Poker Forums / The Rail / Pick your five against the field for next week's GUKPT on: February 25, 2008, 12:31:03 PM
prices on blue square

I'll take the following...
Nik Persaud (150-1), two final tables from two this year, class act and deserves a big win
Kevin O'Leary (200-1), should be among the 100-1 shots imo
Jeff Buffenbarger (200-1), always has the potential to get a huge stack early and utterly fearless
Rob Garfield (200-1), has been among the 150-1ers for the first two events and not sure why he's drifted for this one
Graham Wheldon (prices on application), different class this fella

Apologies for the Luton bias but ho hum

Don't think you need to worry about this. As far as I know you don't need to think about it until you're winning $5,000 or more in one pop, although this may be wrong. Just take your passport with you and you'll be OK in my experience.

Treaure Island is cheap as chips and close to the Venetian, Caesers, Wynn, Bellagio. The rooms ain't great but all right by all accounts. The Venetian is also very reasonable and, as long as you play the evening tournament most days, you should be able to get the poker room rate. Just hold on to your entry tickets. Every room is a suite and it comes down to $160 odd per night, $190 odd at weekends with the PRR.

Nice work Vince, you have the strongest game of anyone called Vinny that I know

Good luck to all Lutonians. Any updates on Dominic Kay appreciated...he'll be the studenty-looking fella annoying the rest of the table

The only queues tend to be for satellites and these are massive. If you're just buying in you'd be unlucky to need to queue at all

If anyone can do this without sleep Compo, it's you. Try to avoid betting into dry side pots with king high and I'm sure you'll be fine. Good to see a couple of Luton regulars (ish) fighting it out and hopefully the deal refuser will crash out third

10/1 Nik Persaud looks a very fair price to me, think they're underpriced the big stacks as so often in these cases

Be pleasing to see Rob Garfield win imo - a big fan of his game

Well done Vinny, an impressive night of stealing my blinds and digging in

Just got a text message advertising the Xmas Eve, Boxing Day and NY Eve tournaments, which is a pleasing innovation. This, along with the decent weather, should encourage a decent field of pokerers.

Luton could get anything between 50 and 100 imo. That said I was the first one to buy in late Friday evening, so who knows?
9583  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: vegas costs? on: December 13, 2007, 10:06:42 PM
The way prices are at the moment, the Venetian is the only place to stay imo. The poker room is well spaced out and easily accessible, plus two tournaments every day, all around the $200 mark bar the $500 on Saturday.

Evening Celtic, where were you this evening?
