Good luck out there Doobs.

+1

I hear that it's a flat rate for taxis to the strip now so long-hauling not really a thing anymore

Ah that makes sense.  I looked up half way there and it said $29, and was thinking it seemed a lot for not far.  It then didn't change and was thinking was it a set rate.  Think it used to be about $20 or $40 if long hauled, so with cost of living $29 isn't bad if only to get rid of the awkward arguments.

Yep, flat rate dependent on zone. I think there are 3 zones, south, mid and north.

Few things.

If anyone is looking there is a reward upper flight on the 5 June.  I saw it but went premium instead, would have cost me 40k/£200 more for upper.  Guessing that is effectively £600 more, but don't think I get that much value for it. Someone with more points could use it.

I can buy approx. 10,000 points for £100 with these flights, going to go for it. Does anyone think that is bad value?

Can get Wynn for £184 a night.  Looks like Horseshoe is about £60 less.  Despite the convenience of the Horseshoe, think the Wynn is worth the extra and there is a good chance I play as much at the Wynn as Horseshoe this time.  Would everyone else go for the Wynn on these prices? Was genuinely surprised on Wynn prices, it was something like 599 a night at the weekend last time I looked.

Has anyone ever used stayforlong?  They are stand out on the Horseshoe at about £85 a night (nearly everyone else is about 125). Has anyone used them?  Don't want to rock up and discover no room.  Am likely to just go for the Wynn, but could be useful for others.

That seems a good price for 10,000 pts, but not sure if they have done anything to devalue them?

I'd be paying the extra to stay at Wynn, and I don't mind Ballys/Horseshoe.

I'm only there once a year, so want to be somewhere nice, not just getting my nut down for 6 hours every night like I did in my 20s.

1p a point is good value, unless anything has changed then the value has increased based on Upper flights. You should only ever use them on Upper to get the max value!  Grin

I haven't stayed at either, been in both, but read lots of reports from people and Wynn is rated so highly above the Horseshoe/Paris. You have definitely made the right choice.

Matt & I are there 8th to 13th but I doubt our paths will cross unless you are heading downtown or to Ellis Island!

Taking it to a new level this year with Wed/Thurs/Fri in Benalmadena rather than the traditional Friday at Trent Bridge or Nottingham Toon..

Anyone got any strong picks yet?

Anyone know of any good race by race write ups available?
Found a really good one last year by HandHRacing I think but it doesn't seem to be there this year.

Start 03/01 = 14st 11lb
Now 25/01 = 14st 6lb

Loss = 5lb

Target 1 = 13st 13lb by 15/03
To go = 7lb

Target 2 = 12st 13lb by 08/06
To go = 21lb

Plan is to try and get below 14st for when I head to Benelmadena for Cheltenham week, then under 13st for when I head to Vegas in June.

Not really started as strong as I normally would so not sure where this is going to go.

So food intake isn't as strict but added in a little more exercise than previous years.

Also heading on George's school ski trip with him to Pila next week, so not sure how the pizza and pasta will be offset by the most active week of my life!

I will keep you posted.....

It’s time for the Conservative MPs to wake up and smell the coffee. One accepted candidate with a declared set of senior ministers lined up. A coalition of genuine Tory beliefs has to be put together over the weekend and a new leader/PM  confirmed by Tuesday.
Who? Fuck knows. Not Sunak though. Wallace seems sound.

Frankly, I have little faith in this mob who broke Hillaire Belloc’s rule when they let go of the hand of Nurse BoJo. But I have zero faith in the capabilities of Sir Keef Starmer and his ragtag band. Especially since the likelihood is that they will need the support of the LibDems.

Why not?

Boris bows out so sounds like Sunak is in tomorrow...

cannot be worse than this.

you talk about inflation: the tories announced uncapped energy payments, are now saying they don't want interests rates to rise, and their actions caused the BOE to turn on the printing presses again to buy up bonds.

you could not imagine 3 monetary policies more inclined to be inflationary.

*despite truss running on a ticket of opposing such a scheme, she implemented it, and then the new chancellor shortened it -  a whopping three different approaches within a month to its largest budget commitment,

they are not fit for office in their current form and cannot be allowed to impose another series of short term PMs, and the accompanying change of chancellor, home secretary etc that accompanies this.

its madness

it has to be put to the people. either they do it, the people force it, or the king calls for it.

But realistically none of those things are going to happen.

So what are you going to do?

Not a chance I'd have considered voting for labour a month ago.

Now they have to be allowed a go at running the country

Its inconceivable that the Tories àre allowed to dispose of and reimpose Johnson over and over whilst being unable to decide on what path they want to take us down.
.

What makes you think they would be any different?

They are all a shower of self serving clowns.
