Good news! I think Paris is probably best based on everything you had said, apart from your wife not wanting to go there!

Good pool
Good casino
Walk through to Ballys for poker
Not that your limited to onsite food, but Mon Ami and Hex are both good, and you can take the Mrs up the Eiffel Tower for tea if you do some wins.

Sure Marky will confirm that on VMB there are many well seasoned Vegas travellers and you don't hear many bad reports about Paris other than it being part of the CET group.

Only reason I discounted Paris at the start was Mrs M hating it Cheesy

I would stay there again no problem, and thought it was a really nice resort.

Food options weren't great, but they were struggling with getting everything reopened last year, and I think that's steadily getting back to 100% now.

Def pretty well liked next door, as Stu says.

Martha's smashed baked spuds are incred allegedly....

The pool at Planet Hollywood is truly awful.

Based on that list Paris would be my first choice, but if MrsM isn's feeling that then the Cromwell.

Any pricing available for or have you written off...

Mirage
MGM
Mandalay Bay
Luxor

dates are actually Wed 26th - Wed 3rd
Virgin package prices per person, including basic flight (we'll do a bit of baggage adding and maybe a bit of upgrading there)

PH - £1160
Cromwell - £1214
Paris - £1202 (MrsM not keen at all)
VDara - £1371
Bellagio £1503

What we thought PH had going for it was as it has a lower base price, getting an upgrade (pre-planned or $20 trick) could mean Bellagio fountain view.

Are you going to spend any time at the pool?

Choice of two for me on the strip these days, Jockey Club Suites or Bally's. If you're booking in advance I'd go with JCS.Great location, quiet, amazing rooms and no resort fee. Vegas's best kept secret.

Stop it!

It's their first trip to Vegas! You cant send them to the Jockey Club!

Without knowing budget and what they are into it's hard to recommend.

I would suggest trying to plan it as downtown first for a couple of nights then move to the strip.
I personally prefer Downtown now but that's because I have been a lot of times, you don't want to feel like your downgrading for the last couple of nights, better to upgrade after the first couple of nights. Freemont definitely isn't for everyone.

Main recommendation would be keep the tournaments to a minimum, fill in blank time with playing cash, but concentrate on exploring and having fun with Mrs M as the poker is no different to anywhere else.

Flights - air miles for the win, depends on your situation but you can rack them up pretty quick with Virgin or BA if you get the credit cards and can funnel any spend through to hit the bonuses.

Hotels - if you have time you might be able to get some free nights via My Vegas or the Wynn Slots app, if not then have a look around, might be best to book direct if you are going to do none poker gambling

Give us an idea of budget, what you are looking for, what you enjoy and we can probably throw out some specific spots to visit.

And we are safely home
Not happy about leaving, but then we never are , but glad to get away from the heat
Gl to all still there
At the moment our bill on checking out of downtown grand was the initial £80 as a deposit
Plus $350 >£250;to c card but is that just food n drink ? We don’t know
Flight was an hour late leaving but they do that so it lands on time which it did
Cases were slow to come out but come out they did
There were a lot of suitcases stood up awaiting collecting

I sat on the low travelex window near carousel 5  and was surprised to see people selling $$ and also buying ££ with $$$
Isn’t that the nut worst way to get your money Huh? At $1.48 for a £

Pleased to see no customs there either as I’d bought a few bottles with my free play $$$ from south point
Kraken rum Myers’s rum ardbeg 10 yr old single malt seagrams gin and a Canadian whiskey plus a few fags

Deposit might just be pending, and disappear in a few days

$600 a day in fruities should get you a free room at DTG.

Shouldn't really matter whether you win or lose either, they are only really concerned about your 'coin in'

What are the best websites to check for genaral info, best pubs, best restuarants, activities etc. in Vegas?
Thanks in advance.

Tried Ellis Island for the first time this trip - superb, really good ribs and chicken.

Ellis Island and The Stage Door should be on everyone's must visit list every trip!

Not quite pubs, but if you like craft beer and brewery tap rooms then the Art's District is great too.

Dewi James?

Still active on Facebook, a mixture of publishing Covid deaths in Wales and wishing people Happy Birthday in Welsh.

Miss that guy!

Best place to look for show tickets please ?
Vegas.com ?
We are hoping to stay till July 10 th from May 29 th
Mainly at southpoint
But thinking about a mid week night or two at plaza and downtown grand

If you know what you want to see, then sometimes it is easiest to book direct and most likely to get the best seats.

If your not sure what you want to see, and not to bothered about where you sit then you can get good deals while your there at the Tix4Tonight stands.

Upper return is retailing between £5 and £10k through out the rest of the year, assuming you didn't book when it was that sort of money then you are going to get stung for the difference I think as the miles and points fares, just use your points as a discount of the full cost.

Not sure where you are at in the process but if reward seats are available for your required dates and you can get the previous booking refunded as points and cash then it might be worth starting a fresh.

I can recommend virgin's WhatsApp service, having used it a few months ago. They contact you when it's your turn, so you don't have to listen to the same three songs for half your day.

I think this is no longer in use.

If you fill a flight change form in online there is the option for them to come back to you via sms, which like the old WhatsApp service seems to work as once they text you can have a good back and forth about what your looking for.

We had to plonk our previous booking into dates given 1 or 2 years ago and virgin said if we change it before going it will cost considerably more plus we may lose the upper bit going out

I’m thinking nearer our scheduled return date we can ring and change - extend it ? Obv a fee involved
Does this sound right please ? Simon or marky

Cash or points Tony?

So masks are now 'optional' on flights to US, but pre-flight testing is still in place: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-61145045

I fly out on May 18th, not sure I hold out much hope for it being dropped by then. Does anyone know how you go about getting proof of having had Covid within the last 90 days, as I hear that negates the need for the pre-flight testing?

I believe a positive PCR test shows on your Covid Pass detalis these days, not sure if that is enough?

The pre testing really is a doddle using the home testing kits though.
