My quarter final bets:
Ebdon to beat Carter @1.9 - Ebdon really seems up for it this year and the Crucible always brings out the best in him.  Carter is capable of winning but Ebdon may just grind this one out.

Day to beat Hendry @1.97 - Another tough one, but the way Day played against Higgins (after the first session) suggests that he would beat most people at the moment.  Still not sure about Hendry, despite a great win against Ding, Ding seemed to be really out of form but this is too close to have a big bet on.

Perry +4.5 frames v Maguire (not matched yet) - I think that Maguire will have too much for Perry, but anything above evens in the handicap is a good bet, as Perry will grind out frames and i cant see Maguire racing away from him like he did to Robertson.

O'Sullivan -2.5 frames v Wenbo (not matched yet) - Although this is likely to be around the 1.5 mark this is an amazing bet for me - Wenbo showed last night that nerves are getting the better of him and if he gives Ronnie chances like he gave Joe Swail then he could blow him away.  Ronnie also seems to really be hitting form as well.  It wouldnt surprise me if Ronnie won this one about 13-5.

When i was 18, one of my closest friends was knocked over and killed by a car - it was extremely difficult to take and over the next few months i did many strange things.  one was to write a list of things that i intended to do before i died.  i was sports mad (still am) so on my list i did 10 things that i wanted to see in the sporting world and then 10 other things that i wanted to do.  Looking back now some of them seem rather strange and almost selfish but i then remind myself that i was just 18 years old at the time (am now 33) and had a totally different outlook on life.
I have been lucky enough to achieve 9 of the 20 so far and hope that more will follow in the future.

If there was one thing that i had to name now that wasnt on my list then, it would have to be to play in the WSOP main event.

Ronnie is certainly up against it, but i fully expect him to pull himself together and come out win 10-6 or 10-7 today.  Funnily enough through some trading before the tournament started i actually stand to win just over £500 if Liu Chuang wins the tournament!

A couple of value 2nd round bets (imo) that i will be having.

Ryan Day to beat John Higgins, both outright and in the handicap (+3.5 frames).  Higgins has been very hit and miss this season, whilst Day is more than capable on his day of beating anyone - odds of 2.78 outright and 1.67 (h/cap) seem too good to miss.
The other bet i fancy is Joe Swail to beat Wenbo, Wenbo had a good win against Doherty, but the Irishman was in awful form and wouldnt have beaten anyone this week playing like that.  Swail though had a 10-4 win against Stephen Lee, and loves the Crucible and generally does well here - he is available at 2.32 at the moment, but am hoping for better odds as the match doesnt start until Sunday.

I have made my money on Ding thanks to his first round win and have him outright, so will be leaving his match against Hendry alone.

I have backed Ding Junhui outright at 14/1, see he has made a steady start.  If he gets through the first round match i fancy him to go a long way.
Selby is up against it, currently 8-6 down to Mark King - would be a lot of people's fancy out of the tournament.

Match wise, had Ebdon to win, Layed Allen at 1.2 against Hendry and backed Steve Davis +2.5 frames against Bingham when 6-3 down so doing very nicely indeed.

Today have backed Ding to beat Fu at 1.64 and will keep an eye on this afternoons matches to see what happens before betting.

i agree that there are many worse calls - but i was thinking more along the lines of the fact that it was a $100 rebuy, for me that is a big tournament, maybe not so much for him.  If it was a $5 then i could understand it a lot more.

impossible to say

if its out of your bankroll then you could be at an inherent disadvantage..

Not out of my bankroll, but at the top end.
I suppose a double up would have put me in a good position, but that doesnt help much when he hits!

Wasnt really looking for analysis of my bet, i was aware that i could have raised to 1800-2400, but decided to make the all in move at this particular time.

Just find it hard to fathom how someone is willing to put in that many chips in that position.

By the way he probably would have made the call after the flop as there were 3 spades on the board and he had the queen.

Playing in the $50k $100 rebuy tonight, down to about 70 players, blinds at 300/600.  Would someone please explain to me why this person made this call.

In early position i am dealt  .  I go all in for 5.5k.  Guy in mid position with about 18k calls, still with 2 players behind him with 20k plus chips who could come over the top.

His hand  .  Needless to say the  came on the river.

But why did he call here - for nearly 1/3 of his stack, still with players to act behind him who could come over the top, and what could he possibly expect to be beating....... he is just hoping to get lucky.

Please also tell me that i am right in thinking that this was a terrible call by him - otherwise i will need to look at my own game very closely!

Playing in the Laddies WSOP league challenge last night, in 6th position out of about 80, blinds at 500/1000, i have about 24k then this happens.

I'm in the BB, everyone folds to the SB who calls.  I check with

Flop comes

Check Check

Turn

SB calls for 1,200.  I raise to 3,600, SB all in for about 10k in total, i call

He shows

River no help - i eventually go out in 44th with 40 paid.

Such a cruel game sometimes!
