1) Orange chocolate is rank.
2) Sarah Greene was a Saturday morning saucepot
3) I'm pretty sure the Duran Duran/Smarties thing is a Chinese whispers-style corruption of the Van Halen story about them inserting a clause in their contract stating that there were to be 'no brown M&Ms backstage'. However, this wasn't a band making ludicrous demands for the sake of it, but a way for them to test if the venue had read the contract properly. If David Lee Roth found brown M&Ms backstage, he would make sure to check important things like electrical and sound aspects, because it meant he couldn't trust the venue guys to have set everything up correctly.

I'll be recording my poker winnings closely and keeping what reciepts I can. don't want the tax man to think i'm making cash Tshirt sales then passing them off as winnings
Adam, I'm sure that if you told the taxman that, for example, the £100,000 that you had was not from T-shirt sales, he'd believe you...

Could it not be argued that, as a poker professional, every penny you ever put into a pot is a legitimate business expense (money spent in order to make your profit), and is therefore tax-deductable?

Whats the right forum?
This is the right forum now - the original poster created this in the Live Tournament Updates section. Everything else should go in here. Just one thing I was thinking though, say your hole cards are covered by a chip or a card protector and you have chips in the pot, and the dealer doesn't notice the card protector and mucks your cards in error, what would the ruling be then? Do you have any recourse? Or does a card protector not give that much protection, and you need to physically hold your cards also to be sure?
This is what I was alluding to in my original post. If a player has taken everything possible precaution in protecting his cards, and yet they are still mucked, it seems that the ruling is totally against the player, even if he's done nothing wrong. In the murky world of poker rulings, it is my understanding that rulings should be made on the basis of fairness - 'Sorry, they're mucked' just doesn't seem fair sometimes.

You're going to have to give me some more information about the situation before I could give you an answer. Were you all-in calling another player, or had you pushed and the action was on another player? Tell us exactly what happened, omitting no detail no matter how small. I assume your cards had irretreivably gone into the muck.
Ironside (or whoever) - can you move this post into the other forum?

You need chips to pull off these moves. Also, you need to do it against players you know won't call with marginal hands. Make sure they have an average stack, so are less likely to call. Let's also remember that they can have a hand, so make sure they've got some previous stealing experience.
I particularly like to identify the muppet limpers - those players who will limp into a pot with marginal hands when the blinds are high. They're just screaming out 'Please push me off this hand'.

Hurrah, Milky Bars are on Ben!
Next time, we want to see you win one of these whilst only having 6 BBs at the final table - you've got to set yourself new goals.

Player 1: "What did you have that last hand?"
Player 2: "I had a pair of Queens"
Player 1: "No, what did you have that last hand, not last night..."
Seriously though, this sounds like a very silly idea. I wonder if it's going to be filmed in Brighton?

I've certainly played in games where players can moody each other, but there is a rule that you're not allowed to lie about your hand - if you say you've got a particular hand/card, you'd better have it - so it's not unheard of.

I met so many friendly people i cant even begin to mention them all.... But a special mention must go to a chap called Kevin Hicks... he is the casino Manager at Rendezvous Casino.. what a great guy, not at all a pompous, self important, anonymous "suit" like so many of his counterparts at other places ... he was constantly around the cardroom and took a genuine interest in everybody and made sure everything went smoothly, A top bloke and a great ambassador for the place.
I've met Kevin before the one time I was down in Southend and I'd like to support what Colchester Kev said about him - you couldn't wish to meet a nicer bloke. Glad to hear that things went well.

Why do we refer to these posts/e-mail as spam? whats the reason behind it?
Amazingly, it all comes from the Monty Python sketch. The term was appropriated by geeks as a means of describing unwanted items which overwhelm you and obfuscate the stuff you actually want - just like in the sketch.
