I'm really not sure that you can have multiple accounts at Betfair. Yes, it is possible to have multiple accounts on the Crypto network, but not at the same poker room (with the exception of Will Hill if you had an account with them before they linked the poker accounts to the sportsbook accounts - it is possible to have two there).
I think the original poster needs to clarify if by 'There is one lad who plays on it that has got 8 different user names!!' he means more than one Betfair account, or more than one Crypto (Will Hill, Littlewoods, UKBetting etc etc) account.
Even if you have multiple accounts, you can't sit down at the same table as play as two seats - both players having the same IP address prevents this.
The Prima network has a system in place whereby you can have accounts at the different poker rooms, but the software recognises this and makes you use the same alias at all of them.
EDIT: Should have read the replies better, Harby did say that the player had an account for each card. I'll be down at the Betfair forum game at the Gutshot this weekend so I might be able to ask someone about this, if Ruru hasn't clarified things by then

There is a festival at Gutshot this weekend - they're doing a tourney with the same structure as the WSOP - 10,000 chips, starting on Thursday, with play continuing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I think Equal Chance in Walthamstow have a £30 rebuy on Friday night.

Will Hill will not yet have said that they're thinking of leaving Crypto. However, I can imagine there may be 'high level discussions' between WH and BF once the BF poker system is nearing completion. If Betfair can produce a quick, stable, innovative poker system, I'd imagine the other Crypto subscribers will be clamouring to join. It all depends on the tightness of the contracts they've got with Crypto.
Betfair leaving Crypto has been on the cards for ages and I'm only too happy it looks like it will come to pass.

The Cryptologic network (which Hills, Befair, Littlewoods etc are all part of) has been having stability problems recently. Actually, the network has never been all that in terms of reliability, but over recent months it's been very flaky. I think their software needs a big rewrite, but I get the impression that no one at Crypto actually knows how their software works in its entirety, so everytime they try and fix something, something else goes wrong.
