1  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Intresting spot from stars 100f 4 handed on: March 18, 2009, 12:52:10 PM
Does it not depend on his perception of you and what your range is in his eyes? Does his bet on the end always amount to air or the nuts. What I mean is, is he really trying to value bet on the end and if so what hands does he think you have that call, that he beats?

If his hand has showdown value, isnt he always checking behind on the river? Or can he turn up with the King after betting previous streets. This being said does it make your 22 a call always as he is more likely to have nothing than nut hands?

Basically as you can tell I havent got a clue but I am trying to understand the thought process behind both your call and his betting as it is no doubt deeper than I am able to think.

Cheers
2  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: JJ pre flop, just shove? on: March 17, 2009, 10:40:30 PM
Is this situation as standard as that? I really struggle with these types of situations primarily because I am not 100% how to calculate the maths involved. When we shove what % of the time will someone behind us wake up with a better hand and what % of the time does the opener have us dominated vs the % of the time we take down the pot by shoving or the % of the time he calls with worse etc..

Is this how we calculate whether its a profitable shove or is it just we have no better alternatives to shoving, as folding seems uber nitty and unacceptable and flatting looks very passive and weak and leaves us open to late position squeezes or seeing flops where we have no idea where we are.

As a fish I would appreciate anyone breaking this hand down into rather simple maths and also simple poker theory and apologise for being a moron.

Cheers

The only thing that I am surprised no-one has mentioned is your open to 450. Perhaps as a moron I am missing something, but I cannot remember the last time I read any strategy that agrees opening 9xbb is ever optimal. Or as you stated, you were confident he wouldn't pay any consideration to the size of the open and merely want to see a flop because his hand was pretty or some other tard reasoning.

I suppose what I am asking is was opening to 450 good/bad/necessary?

Right as it appears no-one is in any way interested in my offer I have had to offer a better deal. So I am prepared to give you $1200 dollars for £550 cash i.e the buy in for main even this week at DTD. Anyone interested either come ask for me tonight at DTD, let me know asap, paulmaddern@hotmail.com. It is in the interests of everyone playing the event to get me the ££ to buy in as I am as close to dead money as it possible and just fancy playing this comp.

I know to most on here £550 is very little money but I would much rather use pokerstars $$ as it seems to hurt less rather than having to draw out my hard earned cash lolol and I would only otherwise tilt them away to some of the sharks on stars  2/4 plo anyway.

Cheers Paul

Right now that I have managed to endear myself to everyone on this forum, I am obv messn about, but appreciate I am offering nothing for something in return. Maybe I should ask for £450 for $1000 or something but if this happens I will no doubt get ebayed down to about £50 for $1000. Anyway time to visit the bank and get out some hard earned instead. cheers.

Action man I hope you are not referring to me as I have only ever made transfers to my brother or people I know well. I put this on here in the hope that someone who is at DTD today/tomorrow would do me the favour as it will take me at least a week to get any money off stars. Plus until you had the dollars on stars I wouldnt expect you to pony up any cash obv. BTW actionman if you have nothing constructive to add then do me a favour and get fucked. That is all.

I agree, devilfish was one of the poker players i most admired and wanted to meet in the late night poker days, then having met him was completely let down to see that he is the most self absorbed arrogant piece of work i have ever met. Thoroughly unpleasant experience. So i am glad his obvious moody was punished.

Don't worry theres plenty reading your commentary, just some of us like me hadn't until now signed up but still very much appreciate the work being done. As it makes a massive difference to have upto date info on these comps that is as upto date as being there in the casino.

keep up the good work

Paul
