Got a match arranged for either next Thursday or Thursday after for £200 a man at Vegas Bar in Wakefield.

Playing a kid I should be beating most of the time (from various sources). Game is 9-ball, Race to 21, winner breaks, I am giving away a ball spot handicap. He is allowed to use the 7ball as if it is the 9ball, but he must call the pocket it goes into. So no 7ball off the break, he must nominate a pocket Smiley

Anybody close to leicester fancy a trip up to watch and sweat out the match?

I'm not quite understanding why you are spotting a guy that you've never played before Baz.

Obviously none of my business but just asking anyway.

I did wonder this myself.

Because I've been told of his level of play by people who have my interests at heart (friends in Yorkshire). He wanted me to start on -4 in race to 21 and I do not give head starts as a general rule. he said no start no game so I got some advice and call 7 spot was advised.

You see, the call 7 spot is actually a bit of a con because if he's not good enough to run to 7 ball anyway (which he isn't) then he won't get to win games early. And while I'm in control of the table it doesn't matter what spot you have.

He's a guy trying to look good getting into the action, but all he is to my standard is a fish.

Yo, is it too late for me to get involved in this?

Might also be interested in a game if you do ever meet up with people, I'm not that good but I can run a couple of racks on a good day. Just to give me an idea of what sort of level ur at.. do you know ppl like Adam Shaw and Rich Wharton? If so how do you compare?

Hi mate, never too late to get involved with this. The higher the bankroll the more money that can be made if I win by both groups! Smiley

I'm happy to meet up for a friendly game with you whenever you like. Where do you live/play out of?

To compare my skill to another player can be dangerous, but I will tell you that in the run up to the money match the weekend, I finished 1-1 in sets against a player called Andy Barnett who's in GB9 Pro division along with Adam Shaw. He won 10-9 I won 10-4 with a 3 start. Pretty much didn't let him to the table! Smiley

I have taken a lot of sets off Ben Moore who is another class amateur act, has played pro before and is as good as Barney and Adam when his head is on it. As it was double or quits he eventually won the set he needed to to level the money out but again, play really well against him.

In a warm up money match against a player called Mark Lovell, I broke and ran 5 of my 21 racks where I had the break - a 25% break and run ratio which is higher than that of players on GB9 Challenge tour!

I am not of that ability all of the time, but I do possess a good quality game in general.

Is there a quality venue in St Albans?

Apparently the Hurricane Room is a quality venue and every table is being reclothed soon.

Wooooooooooooooo!

Won on Money Match TV 21-10. Didn't play particularly well after going 9-1 up. Hard to focus 100% when you get that much of a lead and your opponent isn't firing any bullets at you. Lessons to be learned, but made a lot of great shots and have confidence that I can play again and have a lot more in the tank.

The guy I stuffed wants a 2-legged rematch starting in Manchester (Deansgate Rileys) and finishing in Leicester (Rack n Roll). Once I've had time to consider t&c's this match will happen, so that's a match to be arranged Smiley

I am playing a chap called Mark Lovell on Saturday March 5th. Venue tbc and I'm going to try to get him to play for more than £200. Will probably be played in Birmingham or Solihull. Can't be arsed to travel to St Albans for a £200 a man match especially when we both live in the Midlands!!!

Am i missing something or could people concerned with fuglybaz's ability not just watch this match on cuesporttv?

That would be nice in theory but I'm on the undercard match so don't get televised. Theres regular commentary on scores etc so theyll probably say how Im playing etc especially as they'll have interest as they from leicester too Smiley

Any games lined up yet..?

Not until next week at earliest. I have a match tomorrow on Money Match TV (Vegas Bar, Wakefield on www.cuesport.tv) against a chap called Brendan Leigh, but the money had been arranged before any backing agreement here was in place, so no money is on this. However, it's another good chance for me to get experience, and money match TV is different to just putting your cash on the lights. The walk-on, the interview and the hazy smoke machines make it a different experience.

From next week onwards where I have control of everything, thats when the games start.

One match already arranged to be played at the Hurricane Room (St Albans) on Saturday March 5th vs Mark Lovell. £200 a man Race to 19 Winner breaks.

I'll have a chance tomorrow to arrange some games in wakefield after my match.

Going to bed, got an early start tomorrow gotta set out at 7.30 to make it to wakefield for 10am (I'm on at 11am!!!)

Me and hopkin played for a nifty at turny's place in luton. Oh my that was boring. Watching him chalk up, judge a shot, stand back up, walk round the table, get back up, then finally break. Smiley

He makes terry griffiths look like ronnie

Thinly veiled 'I lost to Hopkin' post? Tongue

BTW Stuart - do you have a relative called Dave Hopkin who plays out of Notts Rileys? If so he's a good player! Smiley

Go play with ralph but sack hopkin off, he is a complete pool nit. Takes like 2 mins per shot.

lol sounds like a guy I took £100 off on Thursday afternoon. Race to 25 took 7 hours! He was so slow averaged out at 10 minutes per rack.

[ ] I oppose the use of shot clocks on slow players

I would have been interested in this if i lived closer and could get to see Baz play, as I don't know him.
Pretty much the same for investors. Ralph is stating the tables are okay, which should be perfectly acceptable for a few friendly competitive games to show what you can do.
Anyone who has played in serious comps/tours in England will tell you that there is shite tables everywhere. It's how you react to it, that shows what kind of player you are. Better players will always be able to read a table, and play accordingly

I go to wakefield sometimes. Will be there this Saturday for Money Match TV. But can let you know (in advance) when I'm up north and if you want to play/see me play then we can do.

There are crap tables everywhere, you are right. But if I'm being given a chance to demonstrate that I have knowledge of the game and am looking for potential investment you can be sure I'll be after the best table possible.

Yah I would say performing when conditions are adverse prob tells you more about overall sporting ability than performing when conditions are perfect.

Depends HOW adverse the conditions are. I can handle a table with slow cloth or cushions that spit out at the wrong angle, but let me tell you that even the pro's cannot adjust 100% to ridiculously bad tables. It turns games into a leveller because there is no real time to adjust in a match. If a cushion is dead, it won't react the same every time and it makes things like banking (doubling the ball) or kicking (escaping out of snookers) something of a lottery, more than a precise science.

if we're gonna use analogy here then let's use the fact that Cricketers don't play under 'bad light'. Tennis gets abandoned when it rains. F1 races get abandoned when heavy rain comes. So if there are things in other sports that are deemed unacceptable, why should it be that pool players accept anything and everything?

Not arguing, I'm just keen on this discussion in general and interested in everybody's views. Smiley

Yah, but fugly isn't trying out for the Mosconi cup here he's hustlin the local market. I don't know how successful his ruse will be if he insists on playing with Aramith Pro-Cup TV balls when negotiating a match up.

Not hustling lol. Just using my reputation as a chopper (because I've only been playing 9-ball for a year) to get matchups that are in my favour, and winding up enough locals who insist 'they will one day beat me' that they get their cash on the table. Sad thing is for them, I play better than most of the idiots who've played 15 years whether it be snooker or 8ball or whatever lol.

When any match up is discussed with any player who plays pool properly, Aramith match balls are always used. At the flyer tournaments (non-ranked at clubs) all the players bring their own sets to avoid using club balls.

The main reasons to avoid club balls are 1) Never clean 2) most sets 5-10 years old 3) the balls arent perfectly round 4) all weigh different amounts 5) cueballs often are dead and give no reaction at all

You cannot screw back a cueball very far or very accurately if it is either dead or weighs more than the other balls.
