When you're asking for money from people it's not unreasonable for them to want to check out your ability first. If Ray Reardon and a couple of pub pool players want to rock into town to play a few frames then fine, just take them to fugly school. All this I don't like the way the balls roll in Nottingham is ridic mate. Just turn up, couple of cannonball breaks whatever and your ability is clearer to those you seek investment from. You need more arrogance in this game and I know exactly what i'm talkin about having watched Colour of Money several times. gl.

I'm not annoyed with anybody asking to see me play. I see it as perfectly reasonable, but I shouldn't be expected to play at a crap club. I have two perfectly good match tables in Leicester to choose from, with proper set of Aramith Pro-Cup TV balls. A players ability cannot be demonstrated properly on rubbish equipment. You cannot expect to kick 3 or 4 rails or even get close if every rail is as dead as a dodo or rebounds different. Proper match balls also play accurately and aren't dead. You get a true reflection of somebodys ability.

Ha ha

Lol dont worry about it, im used to sounding a wanker myself  Wink

Both Matt and I have played national pool tournaments, uk 8 ball of course because american pool has no real skill involved, and Ralph appears to have played all over the country if not world.

As said I am happy to join in over in Leicester if I am invited, plus I know Rileys Notts used to be wank, but so were most Rileys.

Just think Rileys Notts appears to be okay.

The quoted bold part tilts me! Loads of skill in 9-ball. Good luck trying to beat anyone decent Tongue

The tables I refer to that are crap at Notts is the tables 3 and 5 in particular, where the floor isn't safe and there is massive roll on the tables The tables at the back of the club are okay, but dirtier than Jordan!

More than welcome to come to Leicester any time this week. As long as it's before Saturday when I have Money Match TV. Give me a ring or text to sort out - number is 07909672227.

I'd really like you to sort out a game with Karabiner before you play any money matches.

I'll send you my details privately.

As for Karabiner, I will not play at Nottingham Rileys. Believe me, it isn't me being an obstructive prat but I want to at least play on a table that has no rolls or dead cushions. I will have my own match table soon at Rileys in Leicester, but there is also Rack n Roll which has a good match table which I get free use of for money games!

I'll play the game as offered before, Race to 12 giving away 6 games on the wire, but I do feel it is a ridiculous ask just because I've beaten Daz Appleton in that format (in reverse)!

And to judge me on such a game as a basis of whether to back me or not, is again slightly skewed. I know nothing of Karabiners abiliy, or what he was like when he used to 'hold a stick in anger'. And the mindset of giving away a handicap that large is not something I am used to. And not something I'll ever be doing in any money matches I play!!!

I'm  basically being asked to play a ringer and give a massive start away. It's just a bit crazy that's all. I only mentioned the Daz game to show I can cope with playing a professional without losing the plot. Not for bragging rights.

I aim to play at least 4 decent sum money matches in a month period and plenty of small ones in between which will keep me in stroke and steadily add to the balance of the bankrolls.

Payout every month is best idea but this is down to the backer's own preference. I am accounting for all games no matter how big or small the same way, and all results/bankroll changes etc will be blogged as soon as I get to my computer. The backers can ask for any winnings at any time, but of course it seems impractical if I win a small game for say £25 per player to then transfer 3 or 4 quid to each backer! LOL

You've got the maths right Cos, I had the maths retardedly wrong. 50/50 is fine for one off games I feel but not for this agreement, so here's what I'm going to do:-

Backers get stake back plus 75%, not 50%. So to use your maths based on three £200 matches where I put £100 and backers put £100 the bankroll balance will be:-

Game 1 (WIN)

Me (£500) = +£125 (my stakeback, plus double my stake, plus 25% of your winnings)
Backers (£500) = +£75 (your stakeback, plus 75% on top)

Game 2 (LOSE)

Me (£625) = -£100
Backers (£575) = -£100

Game 3

Me (£525) = +£125 (my stakeback, plus double my stake, plus 25% of your winnings)
Backers (£475) = +£75 (your stakeback, plus 75% on top)

Final bankrolls - Me £675 / Backers £550

It would take an awful lot to get into a situation where we either break even of run at a loss.

Does the maths make sense? First post edited to show 75% payback, not 50%.

This is my journal for anybody interested in my pool adventures.

The bankroll I have is basically matched by anybody interested in betting. At the minute, GreekStein and ACE2M have put £250 each towards the pot, which I will match to make a bankroll of £1,000. If anybody else is interested I will match their stake to increase the bankroll.

RULES

•   No more than 20% of the bankroll is to be used for any one match regardless of format/player. I will consult all stakeholders if there’s a game where it’s worth taking more of a risk.

•   No ‘spin-up’ nonsense – I have 50% of the total bankroll and I do not want my half being on the line as anything can happen. If you see any opportunity for a spin-up, then we will do something outside of this agreement.

•   For all matches that I win, backers will recieve 75% on top of their stake, and I take 25%. So for example if I am using £200 of backers cash in a £400 a man game, they will recieve back the £200 stake, plus £150 on top, while I take £50.

•   I will record every match I play, the final scores so on and update to Blonde Poker as soon as is possible with details of how the ‘account’ is looking.

•   I will get what information I can on players from people I trust, before putting down the cash to play. This means I should always go into favourable matches.

As with anything, there is a risk of loss. But I trust in myself and my ability to make this a successful investment for both myself and for interested parties. I just have the make the disclaimer because of the possibility.

I hope this is fun to follow for you all, I’ll certainly enjoy the journey and build up a lot of experience, and hopefully all people involved can make a bit of money out of it :-)

Wish me luck guys... Wink

Played a match for £225 a man earlier and won 25-15. Played pretty solid just lost concentration after a great start and then in the middle when I wasnt being tested. Got 5 break and dishes which is a 20% success rate. Top ranked players in country have average of 15-17% on GB9 events so in that context a 20% success rate after scuppering chances for more is good going.

Key scorelines in match were 3-0, 8-3, 13-7 (after letting him pull back to 9-7), 20-13 (after letting him pull to 13-12) then seeing the job off while keeping him hooked.

The guy I played is a proper gambler who doesnt have a shot to beat me. But he wants to degen more money in my direction and wants to play me this Sunday.

I broke and dished 5 racks with my own cash on the line today. And my focus was 100% and mental game was pretty good. And I made him like losing his money to me but without having to hustle him. This is really your best chance to earn some dead easy wonga. Message me if you interested and I'll let you know all details.

This is my last message I'll post about this because nobody has responded in the past couple of days, despite me being as up front as I can.

I thank all for at least considering my offer if you not interested, if you are then lets do this. I'm in Leicester if you need proof then come down. I'm giving the top amateurs a tough game yet I still have a reputation as a chopper...

I've been challenged to a match on Thursday afternoon at the Rack n Roll in Leicester. I'll PM the guys name to anyone interested, but I've seen him play several times. Misses plenty of sitters even in friendly games, never done well on the GB9 tour or tours previous, and has a lot of health cards he throws out when he loses.

He wants to play £200 a man, playing £50 sets until either the money has swung one way or the other, or if time runs out (playing from 1pm to 9pm).

Anyone want to use this match as a cheap 'trial'? If you do, I'll pay double the stake if I win for the faith shown in me.

Confident I will win, I'm a lot more solid around the balls and I am playing on a table that I know inside out. He's doing 5x15 hour working days before the match then playing on an alien table. Not a game he can win without those obstacles, so the obstacles make it even harder. I'm 75% at least to win. Against someone who plays on the tour that's about as good as I'll be to win a match, and the format we're using suits me well as skill wins long term.

Anyone wanna give it a go? £25 each if thats 5 of ya, paying double the amount when I win. I'll just be happy with double my stake for this game just to prove that I can play for a decent sum.

let me know asap please so can sort getting money to me etc before Thursday.

Cheers
Baz

i am and assume everyone else is still in.

i'm not in of you're going to play some one for the whole stake in game 1.
If you're matching the stake then why don't we say 20% of BR max per game? Would force you to play a decent amount to get to the point of playing for £500 or we could all decide to up stake if you seem to be up to it after a few games.

That's the kind of %age I'd play in one game so we on same wavelength Smiley

Baz do u know my cousin Ben Finch?
Ben's your cousin?
He's awesome on a day/night out. He also has that rare talent of actually playing better when he's had a skinful/hungover
A good mate of Daz appleton's too

Yea he is. Will set up a game with Baz if interested?

Baz whats your full name and il message Ben and try and get u a game at Vegas in Wakey?

Barry French is my full name. Ben knows me anyway pal he's coming to support me in a £500 a man match I have at Vegas Bar on Saturday 19th February. Why don't you come along too if you're not tied up with other things? Smiley

If you're asking me do I want to play Ben then no not for cash lol. The game I've got against this guy called Brendan Leigh is a game I should win more than 80% of the time. I have people who are knowledgeable in pool who can advise me who I should/shouldn't play. Ben is a top class player and I am not fit to tie his shoelaces lol.
