Jeepers - who would have known I was such an expert on mothers breast feeding their babies. Two questions on that topic??? I'd advise anyone to swot up on that just in case they get the same set of questions.

I've had several phishing e-mails for NatWests accounts which were semi-sophisticated apart from the fact that I don't have an account with them. I made the effort to look up the NatWest site for the e-mail address to report them and got a patronising reply. Good luck to those of you that actually have an account with them. I've had loads for LloydsTSB who seem equally blase about it despite having an e-mail address on their website for reporting the scams. I've not even received an acknowledgement response.
LOL - what can the banks do? Send an email to some hacker in Moscow saying 'We've noticed those fake emails are causing a lot of bother - can you please stop sending them out'? If there's nothing they can do, which is not actually the case, then perhaps they shouldn't post a message on their web site saying "please report all phishing attempts by forwarding the e-mail to the following address".

If there's going to be a forum solely for bad beat tales, I'll happily respond to each one personally at a very reasonable price of £1 sterling per post. I promise to give a considered response which is as heartfelt as I can muster. I'll even throw in the maths to show just how unlucky you were.

My simple advice is NEVER follow a link from an e-mail purporting to be your bank even if it follows the criteria laid down for their security standard (e.g. quoting the last 4 digits of your account number). ALWAYS use your own link to the home page of your bank.

sigh hadn't played this in ages...and very slow with my ten today..only beat Kev FFS..might as well not have taken part at all.
me too v slow. 110 questions so far today by the group and only 1 wrong answer. can only assume boldie's been on his better half's a/c lol..she feels bad enough alreday for having got one wrong...so thanks for rubbing it in for me..I would get in a world of trouble if I did seriously though..the "send something to the quizmaster" questions are ridiculous A lot of it is ridiculous. We just play it for fun, right? It's a bit like poker in that respect.

As a relative newbie, I've posted two fairly simplistic queries on PHA and received very useful replies including people expanding on the initial ideas that I posted. I accept that I may have been lucky (having seen some of the comments on other threads) but the responses were all courteous and helpful with the exception of only one person. I think that's commendable and I appreciate the effort and thought that went into the replies. However, on the other hand, I'm a shy sort of guy and can definitely confirm that I would have run a mile and never posted again if I had got some of the abuse that some other posters have received. You can decide for yourselves whether that is a good thing or a bad thing.

The MacArthur world maps are interesting though:
Oh gosh, that's confusing. I wish you hadn't posted that. I feel all dizzy now. Does anyone produce an Atlas where it's all sideways? If not, why not?

real scary when the earth been around for millions of years
The North pole hasn't. It used to be the South pole. I've never understood why people use this terminology. Sure, the earth's magnetic polarity has changed many times but south is still south. It's just that compasses would all have pointed to the other end. North and South are subjective though, aren't they? The North is where the magnet on the compass points to - isn't it (well the magnetic North Pole, I know it's in a slightly different location)? I'm not sure that they are subjective - they are defined terms. My dictionary says that "south is downwards when you're looking in an atlas (at least when I'm holding it the right way up)". It is a limited edition, though.
