GUKPT Coventry??

Oh, and yes please!
962  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Grosvenor take over Isle Of Capri Casino in Coventry on: April 24, 2009, 04:48:04 PM
Am I the only one praying that if Grosvenor take it over, they keep the current tournament schedule?

I hope so! Have you been to the place recently? It's pretty dead. I agree about the Deepstacks, they're good. Maybe, increase the sunday buy-in though? Not much, but to £50.

However, the weekday tournaments need to be changed in my opinion. £10 rebuys on Mon and Tues, and £20 DC on Thurs and Fri aren't the best of tourneys. Anyways, that's just my opinion. Hopefully there's a good compomise!

when i saw you posted a hand i so wanted it to be some kind of sick levelling war. if im correct i played you at DTD once and at the next months you made a truly sick call with like K high on day 2 for an enormous pot which was reported in the updates? am i thinking of the same guy?

as played this is pretty standard. Hes not gonna turn 99 into a bluff and 3b fold is he?

Yeah, Alex, same guy. Had a rough day when I was on the same table as you, think it was back in February.

The important thing is you were the guy who pushed all-in and villain was forced to call all-in. If you're gonna flip that's the way to go about it.

Also, I am sorry losing a flip destroyed your vegas dream.

Yeah, that's what i thought Mantis, but Flushy seems to disagree?

And, I know, it was such a nice dream aswell!

His range isn't simply 77-1010 though is it, despite what OP says. It almost certainly includes aq and maybe some other hands we dominate.

Yeah, originally, AJ+ was really what I included in his range, including infact, KJ+, QJ+, etc... however, I'll add the info about blinds and continue explaining.

IIRC, blinds were around the 500 - 1000 range, with no antes. I raised to about 3.4K, and he raises to around the 16K - 18K mark. The raise seemed just a tad too much, like he doesn't want to see a flop OOP, and I just seemed to put him more on the medium pocket pairs range. Hence, I hoped he would fold to a shove since I thought he wouldn't call in the 77-1010 range. The thing was, me and him were sitting really quite comfortable in chips. I could have folded to the 3 bet, but this seemed weak to me. I could have just 4 bet him, and played the flop, but as mentioned earlier, didn't feel that was the best play. Hence I shoved, since I didn't think he would play this far into day 1, and call pretty much his tournament life on a medium pocket pair.

First post on PHA, so bear with me!

I'm playing a £30 Student Poker Champiosnhip event at the Broadway Casino, with an added Vegas package to the winner (for us dreamers!). It's a 3-day total event with two day 1's. Starting stack - 10K, with 50 minute blinds.

I have moved tables with around a 75k stack, well above average, and I'm about second in chips on my table. CL has me covered with about 5k on top. There's 27 players left, with 137 starting the day. I have been pretty aggressive since I have sat down at this new table. Normally, I would try and figure out how the table was playing, but I decided this was a crucial part of the day, with many players looking to survive the day, so I should pounce!

So, I've raised around 4 hands in the first 6 hands I have played. Next I look at AK, I open with a standard 3x raise in late position. Big blind 3 bets me. Now, I'm thinking he is going to do this alot of the time anyway since I have been pretty active since I have sat down, but I feel he might have somewhere in the range of 77+, AJ+. I'm drawn more towards the medium pocket pairs range, and I feel I don't want to mess around with the only player who can take me out, so I don't really want to play a flop with him where I have missed. So I decide, a 4-bet shove might be a good play here, and the range I put him on (77 - 1010), it's going to be difficult for him to call. He, however, thinks differently and calls. He has 99.

Board brings me no help, and I'm off.

i) Do most players call with 99, or similar, in that spot?
ii) Am i a chicken for not wanting to play AK in this spot with the chip leader?
ii) The flop brings Q33 (IIRC), should I have flatted this 3 bet, and play the flop from there?

I know most of my hand is only about pre-flop play, but I'm really not sure what I should have done to his 3 bet. Thanks guys, looking forward to your responses!

Not many people are ever sure with this one!

As mentioned, if re-straddled, definitely to £16.

However, if it's a raise, the minimum should be to £12 total, since the last raise was £4 with £4. So, utg can now raise a minimum of £4... or so the thinking was shared at DTD.

I'll be willing to give this a go, as long as we know which dates the tournaments will be running?
971  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2 on: March 10, 2009, 03:45:00 AM
Gurpreet Nagi raises to 50k with about 200k behind from the cut-off. Hassan Irfan sets him in from the big blind. Nagi sighs and calls.

Nagi:
Irfan:

...("Yes!" shouts Irfan, "Fives, baby!!!")...

He's tempted fate with this flop though, but blanks on the and river means that Gurpreet Nagi is OUT in 9th place winning £1,893. He played impressively well during the tournament, we'll probably see more of him. Irfan is close to chip leader with Doc, but there's still 6 other dwarves still in...

Cheers for the props, definitely appreciated!

Now that I have Mr Noflops approval, where's that staking board? Wink

I'm routing for Nagi, played on a table with him at Broadway festival, he seemed like a top chap and a good player...

+1 good player nice bloke

Thanks for the support James, Dewi, Rubin and everyone else!

Like you guys read, busted out 9th ... lack of final table experience imo!! Twice been on the £300 final, twice busted out early on...

There's always next month Smiley

Following my somewhat ok success in these in the past, I was really hoping to play this one, because of the £50gtd... However, I have a stupid maths exam on the Monday, and know jack-all... Sad

Good Luck to you all!

Lame deal!!!!  WTF?!

what were the chip counts at the time of the deal?

It was about to go 5k/10k/1k. Garinder had about 145k, Swingler about the same, Wong had a little bit more and Dicesare and Stearn had about 325k each.

get it played out!... IMO

Completely standard 9 times out of 10 after i get knocked out of a final they've chopped it up within half an hour.

I would have expected you to take it down quite easily with your chip stack after the QQ vs 66....!

GG though.

That was the plan but Mr Stearne had other ideas when he insta donk shoved over the top of my 2.5*BB UTG raise with AJ off for 26*BB if my KK had held i'd of had nearly half a million chips with 6 left. Sigh.

I see, just went through the rest of the tournament history.

He was putting me badly on tilt. Everytime I would raise, and most times when I would limp, he would just shove his massive stack the whole way through the tournament! I guess the hand on the final table when I had AK was just too much for me, and I obviously went mental with my 66!
