well said JR on the rule clarification and great change on the stopped clock and 8 hands thing!

This is why the GUKPT is way ahead of the game and the competition!

Snoops - fantastic updates - lets hope someone can see the light to ensure that we can keep em going!

BTW - was there any announcements re: the rules and rulings before starting? After the speech play thing in Brighton thought they were going to do something?

Double up for local lad Mohammed Hassan who left Zhang Yu with the most perplexing of decision as he pushed all in for 4,550 on a board. With over 10,000 already in the pot, Yu was unable to fold his , and his worst fears were cemented as Hassan flipped over for the flopped straight. An on the river made no difference, and Hassan snapped up the pot.

Wow - i know that Grosvenor were reviewing their rules after some strange action in Brighton - but i better get myself a set - hey hqave gone wacko!

Tom Rutter has just this second been eliminated. Positioned under-the-gun with , it looks as though he made a raise preflop and was called behind by Dave Colclough in the cut-off with . By the turn of a , all the monies were in the middle, El Blondie simply praying for the board not to pair. Alas for young Rutter, it didn't, and the river not only sealed his exit, but gave the former GUKPT winner a most timely of double ups.

Gooooo Tommy! Could we have a chip count if poss?

This is his first GUKPT, and his table is mammoth! Tommy, Colclough, Roberto, Tabi Tabi, Mulla and Ramsey (though he doesn't seem to be there?)

I remember the early days of Bolton and Cardiff in the first year, sitting at tables and not recognising anyone. Does anyone else think the GUKPT has got so much tougher the last couple of years?

Pretty sick table draw for your brother - he seemed fairly solid when i played him.

I think any players 1st GUKPT is a massive learning curve - i played like an uber nit - and had a totally sick table. Thinking back, not sure ive had a worse one since!

As for the fields - they are def some of the toughest ive played. I dont think you ever get a table that you can full on abuse, you just hope to just get 1 or 2 good players not 6 or 7........ oh wait..........

If people didn't need faith then it seems strange so many people look for one. Equally it's strange that so many people spend their lives seeking ways to disprove faith and religon.

I say let them believe in what they want, who are we to piss on someones fire?

no one will stop you believing what you like - but dont make things up just to suit your arguements There is lot of factual documentation re Darwin - he certainly didnt believe that god created the world etc!!!!!! He wrote and documented much of his later life in diaries! We are fortunate he had such foresight!

what makes me laugh is if someone made this up today they would be 'mad' - yet people freely believe in a baseless faith/religion! Look at the Moormons - plain idiocy what they believe in - that God returned to ...................... America  (oh yeah) in the 1800's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW - did i tell you Elvis bowled up at my house in the middle of the night and we had a beer! It was nice!

"the stare" is very person specific

The seasoned pro with a stare can often be "strong means weak".

Lets start with donkeys thou:

1. If they can hold your stare without problem they frequently have hit. I often find that the 'tell' can be found around the jaw line - but it is a difficult one to describe.

2. However if they stare but are totally statuesque and holding their breath - you can pretty much call and know your A high is good!

3. The best thing to do is ask them a question and see how they react - look for 'tension' - it is difficult to fake tension as it is an automotive response (this is the jawline thing i talk about). Obv if they are sat on thenuts they wont be tense.

4. In speech play - NEVER overstate your own hand - you might get a totally wrong read - try and deduce the strength of thiers by what you say "did you hit the turn - did the river help" type questions.

5. People will FREQUENTLY give off 100% tells. If you ask "you hit the ace right" - you can see a minute nod - they will have it.

The problems with tells is  you need to build them up over the night - Mike Caros book is a great starting point thou

Great  - im delighted its not going ahead

Lets hope that Gala as a business go under in what is going to be a horrible recession! It is all they deserve for their none punter friendly attitiude - banning people left right and centre for no reason!

GFY Gala - there are many better place to play - and I for one will be delighted to see you go under - and I will be even more delighted if I get instructed to deal with your administration.

Selling off your assets would be very very sweet!

There is nothing in it for us so we arent doing it. That is an attitude which will get you nowhere in life!

lol go under! I'm sure those table games are helping them in this recession

Wow  - i was in a bad mood on Friday lol!

2 things - i obv got banned from gala for nothing - lol

and...FWIW........ I was by no means suggesting that a little poker tour being cancelled would send Gala bust. I was merely suggesting that in any recession where you have a sector dominated by several large players (eg casinos) - that frequently one of the said firms is highly likely to go into administration and face insolvency (esp in the service sector)!

All i was saying is that if that occurs - i wont shed a tear if Gala goes.

if you feel at all bad - get a deck of cards - pull out 2 cards - if you miss - ship him 1/2 the pot?

You did nothing wrong - dealer should be taken outside and given a kicking for dealing whilst awaiting a ruling. I always find it brings it home to these idiots when you remind them that the
pot size is a weeks salary!

steady on fella. I agree he shouldnt have dealt out of the blue, but if u mock the dealers for what they earn compared to the pot, then its you who needs a kicking.

I am not mocking anybody!

I was merely going off what was posted. I have seen dealers do some stupid things in much bigger pots. The problem is they are frustrated that thay feel something they have done is being questioned. Continuing to deal just for the sake of it does nothing but piss people off.

The point I am making is (just like in my job) -  dont make a rash decission when quite alot depends on it! Nobody wants to lose a pot because of someones ill judgement (espeically when an outside opinion is being sought).

So.......... I am not mocking........ all I am saying is - if he sat there and said to himself........ "this is an £x,000 decission I am being asked to make" there is no way he just mucks the cards/continues to deal/ whatever! He wouild instead wait for the authorising decission. I sometimes think that they forget those little plastics discs in a  big heap oftentimes represent a big wedge to any of the players sat around the table!
