I'm sure someone will post in a sec saying just ship it pre ffs.

I actually don't mind what you have done.  You have reasoned that he won't make a mistake pre, so you have taken this line in the hope that you get a chance to make him make a mistake on the flop.  This reasoning seems to hold that you have committed to playing the hand, so what decision is there to make?  Close you eyes and put the rest in, justify it that it would have played the same as if you had shoved pre.

So altho I don't mind your line, if it is going to tie you in knots on the flop, perhaps it was just easier to ship it pre.

Just to make it clear, I was never gonna fold on the flop....

Ok here goes. I've been struggling with my game recently, running bad has led to me playing badly (I'm sure you understand). Playing my local casino, where most players are truly awful. £20 1r1a , 11 (from 40) left, my table is 5 handed. Blinds 1k/2k, average about 27k. Top 5 get paid.
Folded to SB (25k) an awful player who I haven't played in a tourney before (although we have history at cash to the point that the previous week he had made a complaint to management about me). He had been pretty tight, but raised a few pots lately. Villain raises to 8k, I look down at  . I have 17k, is this an instant shove? Having spoken to friends, they say ship or fold. I just called, my reasons for this is as follows. If I ship it im getting called imo. Im not folding as Im pretty sure I have the best hand and we are nowhere near the bubble.
Flop
  three clubs

He shoves, call or fold? I called because I was prepared to play the hand from the start. I thought his range for shoving was any Queen, any 9, any pair above a 9, 10J, AK, AJ, KJ. I think there is a small chance he might check if he misses the flop (explaing my call instead of shoving), allowing me to ship 11k, to which he might fold. Is this play as bad as my friends, very good players (Neil Blatchly and Rupinder Bedi) are trying to tell me?

I don't like limping pre as you'll entice people to limp behind you and prob only gonna get it in with someone you would more easily if you raised anyway. You don't really wanna see a multiway pot here either and it's gonna be hard to get paid oop unless we give them too good an opportunity to outdraw us. Players in these tournies are happy to limp behind with anything thats not a big pair/premium once u've limped but they'd prob call a raise from you so let's build a pot and get it in on basically any flop. We've got to play the hand for a full double up here imo.

I tend to make it a little less than 3bb here - like 15.5/16k.

As played after the flop I think you should make a weak lead to entice your opponent to shove any two. I prob gay bet like 10.5k. If he has a king gl to him - we can't ever pass here.

Ok, thanks for the input guys. As we all know, every single hand of poker can be played in a multitude of ways on every street. I chose to check the flop to try and induce a bet from Ben on the turn. Mission accomplished. I was hoping my raise might induce a re-raise, which, btw, I would have snapped. The flat call slightly confused me. The upshot is that I bet 7k the river to get paid of with KJ, QQ, JJ, 10s maybe even a smaller pair. He snapped and showed 8, 9 off! On this occasion it seems as though slow playing has cost me chips, however, I do think I still get paid off should I avoid and 8 or 9 on the turn.

If you're sure you're ahead why are you asking if you should value bet?
Of course I cant be sure Im ahead, but just wanted opinions as to whether, if I check, Im losing value long term. What do you have him on (range)?

I would value bet most players but maybe not Ben who I've heard is aggro- he may be capable of setting u in if you bet in this spot. Check
Surely if you think you have the best hand you want an aggro player to stick you in?

Ok guys, this is a hand that occured during the GUKPT side event on Saturday. £250 buy in.
30 players left, average 21k, i'm on 35k. 13 paid. blinds 400/800/75. seat 10 is the button. Ben Vinson (85k) had recently joined the table raises from seat 7 to 2.2k, he had been opening a lot of pots, roughly 40% whilst on my table. I looked down at  in seat 9 and flat call, everyone else folds.
Flop , Ben checks, I decide to check a very innocuous flop, hoping to disguise my hand strength. Turn brings , Ben bets 2.4k, I decide to raise to 6k, he flats. River brings , Ben checks to me. Now what?
Comments on how the hand played please, but more importantly, what should my move be on the river, am I losing value by checking?

200 runner comp. 128 left. Cash to 25. My stack is 38k. Just been moved tables so no info on Villain who has a stack of 26k. Average is 17k (ish).
Blinds 400/800/50. Villain raises to 2.2k from 3rd to act. I flat call in the cutoff with . Everyone else fold.
Flop  . Villain bets 4k. I flat call. Turn  . Villain moves in..... 2 questions, would you have raised the flop and what shall I do now?
