32  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Rebuy/add on, or not? on: September 30, 2011, 01:52:12 PM
Local donkament, £15 with 2 rebuys or 1 rebuy 1 add-on. 32 players start, 22 left at add-on break, with average at 14,500. We start with 5k chips, we are now on 15k, without using a rebuy. There is £850ish in the pot, expected to rise to £1100 with other peoples add-ons and. We consider we have have an edge on the field. Blinds about to rise to 300/600 and the levels are 20 mins, do we:
a) invest another £30 for a further 10k?
b) invest another £15 for a further 5k?
c) take our shot without adding to our initial buy-in?

If your answer is A), how many chips would you need to be happy not to add-on?

Check call flop - miss turn, therefore check call, miss river, therefore bluff and fold when raised.

Hate playing against loose players OOP, however on this board I'm check raising.

Thanks guys, good idea Matt, problem with that is getting the events organised when I stay over somewhere. The reason I haven't posted the route is because it will all depend on where I end up staying. I will post the route at a later date and ask for further help in specific areas, if required.

If anyone knows of an organisation who would be prepared to pay for advertising space, feel free to ask them to contact me. I feel there is no reason why we can't raise a considerable amout of money for McMillan, Marie Curie and CRUK with this venture.

OK guys, here’s what I’m planning: I want to ride a bike from John O’Groats to Land’s End next August, to raise money for 3 Cancer charities. The catch, I need your help to do it, here’s my plan.
1.   I want to ride 60-80 miles per day
2.   I want somebody, connected to the poker community, to put me up overnight, following each leg of the trip.
3.   I’m looking for whoever puts me up to organise a charity event for the evening I’m there, not necessarily poker related, just something that will raise funds.
4.   I am planning to get into Land’s End on the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend 2012, but I want the route and exact dates in place for the beginning of the year.

At the moment I’m just looking for offers, so I can gauge whether it’s an idea that can materialise. Come on guys, if you live on, or know someone who lives on the projected route and have been affected by Cancer, get involved. Feel free to discuss things on here, but with any firm offers of accommodation, I would like a PM, with your idea of a fundraising event. I may not use every offer (I’m looking to ride from house to house on the journey, so need there to be a projected amount of distance between each stop).
I look forward to hearing from you all.
Kev.

Your trip reports are a fascinating read, keep writing please

You always include a lot of detail on significant hands. Do you make notes or just have good recall?

I struggle with remembering a lot of the information about a hand after 10 minutes has passed (this may, or may not be age-related - I can recall every shot I played in a round of golf for days).

My less effective memory for poker hands used to lead to my badbeat stories being long and even more tedious than most. Once I realised this I stopped telling them (mostly) and now try to limit my post-exit conversatiion to the simplest of formats. "AA no good", or "flopped the set, he flopped the straight" etc

George's recall for hands played, even from 4 years ago is unbelievable, even for hands that other people have played. Without doubt the best I have ever known. I however struggle to remember what happened on the flop once the turn card has been revealed!!

We reach the cash. Nothing too crazy happen between now and then and I maintain my stack. Table breaks and me and matey wish each other luck and goodbye. Until we get our seat cards. him seat 4, me seat 2. I decide I'm going to lock up completely. He doesn't show any sign of slowing down and I'm not gonna get into levelling wars. I'll wait until I have it.

Matey then spews more chips to Lynn Beaumont when he opens J6ss on button and put her in when she 3 bets. Didn't turn out well for him unfort as the lady had the ladies.

I haven't played a hand for a while and it folds to me in the hi jack and I look down at  three diamonds Two Diamonds. Lynn is small blind and a middle aged gent in the big. They both have around 80k so I make it 6300 at 1500/3000 as it seems like a pretty good spot. Only thing I have to worry about is being 3 bet by best mate 2nd best mate but he is wounded plus the fact I can just muck if he does.

Folds to big blind who asks how much it is before calling. I don't put him on much as I think he will defend light against my "min raise". Board is  Two Clubs He checks and I bet 7600. Villian dwells and then counts out a raise to 17000 or so. He has 60k behind. Now I never think he has 2 pair here as his two pair combo's usually fold and top 2 probably 3 bets. I think his most likely holding is ace rag or a decent queen and this raise is one of those "find out where I'm at" I'm about to tell him where I'm at. I slide out a stack of blue chips and set him in.

He calls. Very quickly. Oh well. I have any 3 any 2 and backdoor diamonds.

He flips AQ.

Oh.

Ok.

They had been calling the all in's on the mike. Dealer announces "All in and a call table 6" I say "They don't need to turn up for this one" The table laughs. Hardy ha.

Turn is

River is one of those slow mo Kodak moments

 two spades

I wince. The table winces. The communal shout of "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH" Villian looks like I've shot him in the bollox. He shakes his head. I can't look at him. That one must have hurt. He says something like "WP mate" sarcastically. I let him have his moment. He deserves it. That one was disgusting.

I play another hand with mate when he peels a raise. I have two black queens. J93 flop. I bet, he calls. 7 on turn. I bet. He raises I call. I then check call blank river but it is a bit of a sigh call as I think he must have it this time but I kinda have to pay him off due to him repping so very little on this board. He has KQ. This takes me to the heady heights of 450k. Guy who I believe finished 2nd opens I 3 bet Queens out of sb and he jams 150k. I call. He has AQ. This to take me to over 600k with the ave at 150. Board doesn't comply as it comes Ace high and I'm back down to 300.

Well done Lee, we all did really well. In hindsight, with the fact that we did it all in one day, made it a tougher challenge than last year. I'm hurting more as well, that might be the extra year in age, but it doesn't matter.
That 5.5 mile home was disgusting. I'm sure that's what hasKilled my calf muscles!! lol

Thanks guys, have any of you an idea of how much the heli flight to the Canyon is, with the flight along the strip at night? Also, are there any tips you can give me for discounts, upgrades etc.?

Hey guys, off to Vegas with the girlfriend at the end of June and just wondered if any of you had any good tips for shows to see, restaurants to visit, discounts available. I know we'll go to the Canyon for a day trip, any advice about this? Basically, I'm asking if you can help me to make the best of a week in Las Vegas with my partner.
Thanks in advance.
