OK, the concensus is to bet the flop, which I did. I bet 500, mainly to rep tpnk or a draw. It was folded round to Steve Holden on the button, who made it 1700 to go. What now?

DTD 321 Deepstack, level 3, blinds 75/150. 8 handed table, Im in the BB with 8.5k behind. Table has been playing fairly standard poker (although this could be due to the presence of Paul Raynor (absolute maniacal fish), who has recently been eliminated).
UTG limps, button limps, (both have me covered), I check with  Two Clubs.
Flop  Two Diamonds......
Lead or check?

Obv should just sit there and stfu that he got lucky but if he's an amatuer and the money means shit loads to him you can understand the excitement he would be feeling, lets be fair imho
tbf his oppo is also someone to whom the money means a lot, especially at this time of the year. Outdraw someone like that and celebrating is the worst thing to do. Amatuer or not, players should learn to be good and humble winners, had it been me that had been outdrawn, he would have heard about it!

That is a wonderful point well made, lol. I raised to 4.5k.
66  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Call or not? on: November 09, 2009, 11:57:55 PM
Live donkament at local casino, mixed level table, which I feel I have a big edge. 9 left, 5 paid. Blinds 800/1600/200. Average is 28k.
I have 35k. Serial limper enters the pot, I have  and choose to punish from the cutoff. Fold to BB (the only player capable of a rebluff) shoves for 11k more, limper folds, as expected. Should I consider the edge factor a little more before calling?
I'm only asking because I feel this could be small leak in my game and any comments would be welcome.

lol you gotta laugh at such shocking play , my mate loses with aq-aj to a straight and then somebody ships in 450 odd k with a total jack rag bluff  into a pair of tens and scoops!!!! now on 900k lol no justice in poker eh!!!! at the end of the day i suppose you just cant beat luck !!!!!!! good luck to all remaining players.

He made a move got lucky, not bad play. The call with 1010 was marginal  imo.

shoving with atc is a far superior play than calling with 10s. Don't you love it when people with no game criticize those that do? Lol

Last hand before the break, Alistair Carins open shoved UTG for 500k

Subtle.

Lol, some people deserve to lose their stack!

ty cos,
yeah, prob a good idea, need to work on my lingo, i gather 'back-raise' is enough to tilt some folk...

Im another who is glad to see you post on here Julian, although the phrase 'back-raise' should be confined to the poker scrapheap.
The only sentance it fits into is "They were sooooooted, it's my favourite hand, I knew I was behind but I still back-raised him"!!!
72  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Live 60 quid MTT- thoughts? on: September 25, 2009, 01:24:01 AM
OK, it was me that played the hand that George has described.

Firstly, are you advocating that I should have folded pre flop from the cut off on a 7 handed table, with 6800 and the blinds about to go up to 300/600?

Secondly, once raised, I obviously had 3 choices, and I decided that I had just about enough FE to stop and go (lets try not to be results orientated, as we now know the villain had KK, lol). I had decided he had 2 big cards, therefore the flop wasn't a bad one for me to get him off his overs....

Level 1 APAT world championships. 15 mins in. Stacks 10k (give or take). Blinds 25/50...

UTG (player been involved in 3 or 4 pots so far) limps, I raise to 175 from UTG +1 with  , UTG calls.....

Flop  , check, I bet 300, he calls.

Turn  two spades, check, I bet 550, he calls.

River  , he checks, what now?
75  Poker Forums / Live Tournament Updates / Re: Dusk til Dawn £100k Gtd FINAL DAY on: August 02, 2009, 03:39:55 PM
Pete Linton is out of run good tokens..

He shoved pre with 10 J

got a snap call from .. KQ ...

10 high flop but river brought a Queen ... Linton out.

Let me guess, he berrated the guy for making a bad call, then walked away claiming he did nothing wrong and is only out because he ran into a bad player, AGAIN!!!!
