what do you think would be the impact on the high stakes live MTT scene if Crypto a) stays at these levels or b) falls a way from here..over the remainder of the year?

i ask because the boom in HR fields, buy in, guarantees must have been fuelled to an extent by bitcoin going to $20k and the profits made from that if cashed.

very good question, not just on the effect with regards to SHR's, but thepoker economy as a whole. I'd be interested in hearing peoples thoughts here.

Entertaining video by Doug Polk, he outs a British youtuber Suppoman who has been scamming his community by charging them to take two courses allowing them to have exclusive access to a secret ICO. Unfortunately, the ICO (Seele) was widely known to the crypto community it was no secret. Just to rub it in, someone has managed to scam $1.8m out of investors by posing as the ICO's administrator. The Investors Compensation Scheme no good here.

If ever this space seriously needs to be regulated sooner rather than later this is an example. Whilst Doug is funny in the way he outs dubious practices, he should stick to poker Smiley.

why?

How anybody dares put any money in this at any price I have no idea. You might as well be playing roulette.

To be fair I love roulette Smiley

Acegooner you are absolutely insufferable at this point

But that's assuming you already have the $100k in litecoin, if you need to get it into an exchange first that will take a while!

For anyone not aware of what's happening right now there is a serious downwards price correction going on. My portfolio is 38% down on its peak valuation, which was Friday! Must be squeaky bum time for those with chunks invested. A good time for anyone not currently invested to get in cheaply.

what are you holding? tron verge and XRP? :S sucks for you though

I think discussion is very healthy for the community, however, you have people purely on crypto because of the massive gains and on the other end of the spectrum you have people who are extremely negative and scream bubble, insecure, fraud, unsafe. They both exist within this thread and are both as ignorant as one another. Ignorant people will miss out or be punished.

I cannot believe that acegooner thinks this thread will be dead in 5 years, the only chance of that happening is if the forum doesn't exist anymore. It is quite clear Mr gooner doesn't understand the tech or get the point of crypto in the slightest. Not only have you been calling this a bubble but now you're suggesting that we will never reach new highs. I refer to highs as both the technological advancement and integration to day to day life as well as the market cap of crypto.

Its slightly unfair and ignorant to join people in a discussion and to dismiss people like this is some kind of fairy tale. I probably spend 3-4 hours a day reading anything to do with crypto for the past year. I've remained open minded and only ever invested money once. I've honestly had to read every one of your posts and had to come back to my computer on a different occasion because your level of ignorance is absolutely mind blowing, as you may notice I've lost my patience a little this time.

Ground breaking tech, market cap x30 since thread began, parabolic growth. Of course it's a bloody bubble of some sort, inside the bubble you can't tell how much tension it's under nor how big it will grow. However, its going to continue to be more and more innovative each year with an upward trend of value over an unknown time frame.

spot on, even though you're pro-crypto you've offered balanced and suggested caution on numerous occasions. Meaning people are quoting Buffett in here who's been calling a bubble for years, well guess what a broken clock is correct twice a day.

These new articles daily on cryptocurrency hold zero weight- the currency fluctuates so radically in a relatively short space of time it becomes irrelevant or outdated within 48 hrs

as an aside, a little snap shot into life in america a little tale my dad told me last night.

my dad sold life craft equipment and often went to america where he would entertain their defence contractors and other suppliers / customers. he's a very chatty laid back fella my dad, he falls into conversations with anyone who piques his interest and he's very disarming. he picks up firends everywhere - eg the new security guard at his local shop has promised to take him to wembley if leeds get there via the play-offs this year, he's met my dad about ten times in the shop.

anyway my dad was in america and he was sat in the hotel lobby. he was sat next to a fella who came from a very small, very religious town. he said it was a beautiful place and he should come with him to see it. a about an hour or so drive. my dad agreed and they drove to this lovely little town and went to a bar. this is where it gets weird. the chap tells my dad he'll need a gun to enter the bar, and that he has a spare gun for him. they wont allow people without guns into the bar, and they dont really like people in the town to not carry -  they says its a much safer place if everyone knows everyone else has a gun. so this perfect stranger hands my dad a loaded gun and they go drinking together in this hick bar - and my dad knows every single person  - no matter how drunk or rowdy - is in possesion of a loaded gun.

Quite the cover story

Any chance we can change this thread to the deluded investor? The fact BTC market cap is around 7/8% of Apple is enough reason to know it's overvalued. There are lots of quality companies in both the S&P 500 and FTSE100 who are much more of a solid investment that
and do not have the same market cap as BTC.

Most crypto currency speculators usually don't bother looking at stocks and shares, they want the crack cocaine of investments imo.

You must be revelling in the latest slump Acegooner. The world is a changing place, embrace it.

Train etiquette of who gets to disembark first, a passenger seated near the door who is looking to get out or the person further back who stood up early. The answer is to always politely let the other person go first but after that I was partially out my isle seat a second guy tried force his way by. If you are in a hurry either get up earlier or don't sit in the middle of the carriage.

Surely you should use plane etiquette? Closest to the door alights first.

this for me. Always the fun players stand up immediately when the flight has landed in the isle's even though disembark won't happen for 10-15 mins. People seem to have zero chill.
