I don't like the turn call with jacks. In retrospect were you kinda thinking that it would be great to 'own' WCG?

I also don't see why he should know Pads. It's not like he was on his starting table. He got moved and likely doesn't know anyone's named.

+1 I actually think 3 way flop is pretty close at a FR 5K table.

the squeezed middle (a guardian chart)

a more rightwing and polarised electoral outcome than in 2010

"Fooled by Randomness" might be a book worth reading, if you underestimate the aspects of hidden luck in all walks of life.

Is it me or is GOT deviating quite a bit from the books now?

I dont recall it being the eldest Stark daughter going to the Boultons, it was an imposter for the younger daughter iirc?

Jaimie and Robsons mate off on travels together etc??

Yeh they've publicly stated this season and future seasons will swerve from the books quite a lot, mainly i assume because the TV series will complete before the books as Winds of Winter isn't due out till the back end of next year. Tv versions of books are often simplified, so I'd expect a lot of periphery characters to be killed off along the way who will still have a part to play in the books.

I refer back to my previous comment about unemployment at its lowest level for years and wages up.

If this is, as many on here proclaim, failing, what, pray tell, is moving in the right direction?

As  relaedgc points out, far too many ignorant people acting according to type and oblivious to the facts of what is actually happening.

Isn't this also in part down to people being on zero hour contracts and many peoples benefits been cut or completely taken away from them so as they aren't claiming hence they don't register as unemployed? certainly explains the rise of the number of people using food banks.

he blogged about it on his trews channel. Ironically he agrees with posters in this thread what the agenda of the list is really about.

It's the people who vote not the media though.

I really think he has had the best year any poker player ever has had or will have and critically is very very good. Maybe the media didn't give him a lot of attention though and thus readers didn't know much about him. If so such a shame as his year is ridicously impressive.

That's the point though, Patrick, it was a public vote.

For whatever reason, DN is regularly dissed on blonde, but in the wider poker world - most especially among recreational players, DN is very very popular indeed.

Camel? He doth protest too much, & I suspect that secretly, he wants to be Little Danny.

By the way, I thought you were a tad unfortunate not to collect a gong, but you ran into Deadman, who deserved his Award imo. "Live" players attract a far higher profile generally than Online players, even though it could be argued that winning regularly Online is tougher.

Go win a bracelet or 2 at this year's WSOP & that should do the trick.

It is the people who vote, but if they only get their information through a small fistful of poker media outlets than have proven to be ess than partisan in the past. The Pokernews coverage of Coleman was borderline vindictive as some of their own writers took to twitter to vent. This poker awards just comes across as one big boys club and extremely cl-icky.

Have you no opinions on the NHS? Europe? The Pound? The finances of the country? Or your local park/library/school rtc being closed etc etc?

How would you feel if a law was passed stated we are no longer entitled to vote in elections and whoever was in control of your local area and government was in for good and are able to pass future laws without question.

Would you still feel the same as you do?
Would you still state "you don't do politics"

The comment "they're all the same" gives me the impression you have an opinion on polictics so you do care - just maybe not enough; so apathy will continue and thus nothing will change.

Not saying you do yourself, but "why bother it won't matter" baffles more. If everyone who thought that did actually bother, things would change in some manner.

Silly Examples;

My cheering my football doesnt make a difference really to the performance, so should i not bother?
My 40% tax is nothing vs the economy, so why bother paying it
My £3 donation to NSPCC isn't making squat difference in the gramd scheme, so why bother

the FPTP system makes it incredibly tough in certain strongholds, so the apathy can be understood. People are obviously interested in politics even if sub consciously, i'd imagine people posting here have a reasonably comfortable lifestyle. If we came into hardship directly i'd imagine we would all become a little more politically active. As sad and negligent as that sounds.

I don't have any strong views on the queen as a person since I have never met her and don't know too much about her. She does seem rather cold and staid to me. But maybe in private she is a warm, loving mum and a fantastic conversationalist. I kinda doubt it, but whatever.

However, I do have strong views on the institution of monarchy. I think it is a load of old bollocks and should be got rid of immediately. It is an anachronistic throwback to the days when certain groups of people were considered better and more deserving than others purely due to their birth. It symbolises entrenched privilege, entitlement and social stasis, and thus has no place in a modern, forward thinking and egalitarian society

If I was to meet the queen I would be expected to bow. Bow! Really? Think about that for a moment, and realise what a load of bullshit that is. It suggests that she is my better, that I should show her more respect than if I was to meet a 'normal' person. She is not my better. And she is not your better either. I ain't bowing to no-one.

spot on.

I've got more important things to worry about, than if we really landed on the Moon, or if that plane really hit the pentagon...

I don't particularly mind those who choose to believe their alternative theories, but I do tell them to take a running jump if they start insisting that I read all the stuff that they have.

Peculiar stance to have. So your basically saying its fine for others to have an opposing opinion to yourself, but you have absolutely zero interest in what people say or at least opening up yourself to question things that have /have not happened. Fwiw i absolutely could be wrong about both but I've watched alot of documentaries on both and that is what I conclude until i gain further/better knowledge.

One thing I would say is media in this country and the US has come under increased scrutiny mainly through social media i.e phone tapping scandal and Fox News ridiculous partisan approach to Broadcasting, highlights how life is lived in shades of grey and not black and white.

9/11 is pretty black and white ffs.

Step away from the thread...

Nice way to stifle debate, I'll retreat and let the big boys debate.

Nice thread subject though Woodsey
