How do I make that a link on i pad? Fk knows. Just pissed about for a half hour. Hehe.

Anyways to the point. This is pretty bad news I think as it was a 7 year inquiry which sure must have some gravitas. Surely when it becomes skillful it would be taxable?

Better it's gambling which is tax free. Or not?
Skill has nothing to do with uk tax.  It has to be a trade, profession and vocation and the judge in a legal precedent case specifically said that playing cards every day and winning through skill wasn't a trade.

I never knew this. I always thought live cash poker in the UK is taxed so highly because the GC decided that it is game of chance and therefore HMRC declared it casino "drop" which can be taxed punitively. Is that an anomaly or are HMRC getting a double whammy?

Curley is not taking money from bookmakers he's taking it from other punters.

All it will mean is it is even more difficult to get bets on (if that's possible) at early prices and accounts will be even more restricted.

Barney Curley is not a punters hero, he's a parasite.
The only parasites in this game are the on course bookies (tbh they are arbers) who give the liquidity to bf market. They all bet the live ones on there and lay em back. In 5 years you won't be moaning about not getting on, it will be industry prices. So it's bf or go to the meeting.

Fair play to BC that takes some planning. I mean honestly, imagine waking up Weds morning after planning that for a year?  He must of been loving that buzz. Camel, you gotta respect that surely as a punter?  He has basically said f the lot of you. Punters and firms.
64  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: PLO - No, I couldn't fold pre. on: January 21, 2014, 05:43:34 AM
I don't play online much but I don't like the flop bet here as we have the worst of everything if we get any action. Sometimes PLO can be a lot easier if we recognise spots that are really bad for us. With this hand it's really hard to win a BIG pot unless you turn 2222. HU would be different but oop in a 4 way pot seems grim.

/10c online does seem to be similar to a £1/£1 live game in many respects too with all the limping going on. Then if you get aggro they all F off. It's the only level on stars I beat by the way. Hehe.

A few great posts there. As usual it's 440 in the morning and I am pretty beered up.

Live cash poker is the nuts. It's where the money is especially if you willing to put Fri and Sat nights in (sober). I would say by far the most important factor is having at least one peer or mentor you can implicitly TRUST. I mean like your mum, but a sweaty bloke.

I think it's a terrible fold but maybe I'm the worst.

Just for cliffs

You call him reckless
It went limp limp limp he limped
You raised somebody called
He is a huge dominating stack and goes all in
We have ak

......
For once I agree with plinop about a live tourney hand. Not even I can find a fold with AK as villain over limped button.

Hey. Great thread and good luck at the pokers.

I would say its fine to be anon. Or maybe even a positive to this forum specifically.

Let's have more anons, with dirty Vegas stories.

It's not fb or a dating site is it ?

IS IT?

Love Frankie btw.

Urgh...just realised how badly I fooked this up:

http://www.pokerstrategy.com
Board: 3hKh3dAh3c
   Equity   Win   Tie
UTG   94.55%   94.55%   0.00%   { AdAc }
BB   5.45%   5.45%   0.00%   { A3s, K2s+, 53s, QhJh, QhTh, JhTh, Qh9h, Jh9h, Th9h, 9h8h, 8h7h, 7h6h, 6h5h, 5h4h, 4h3h, A3o, K6o+, 43o }

Erm...yeah so I just flatted. He had KJo. Bugger.
Still the same net result so all good. You also now have the image of tikay, so use it. Hehe. Camels thread sure wins the more interesting PHA thread though, sorry matey.

Even I raise here unless Villain is Ripper or Amigo.
71  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Call or Raise? on: January 11, 2014, 03:27:36 PM
raise/call for me for sure.
I can see an argument for raise/fold or even jam but raise/call seems risky. Calling a 4 bet river with bottom house would usually only beat bluffs and we don't know if this player is that good. I agree with George that if he is good then raising this river may be the only way we can lose the hand.

Still like the flat call. Certainly not a softly played hand IMO.

I think what George meant wasn't that he might be "good", but that he might massively overvalue his hand and accidentally turn a value shove into a bluff. I don't really agree with this reasoning though, it feels similar to saying we shouldn't raise rivers in general without the nuts because we might be beat. The long term result of it being (imo) a losing play is going to stay the same since we'd have a read on his comfort level at the table (posture, how he handles chips etc.) and live £50+r's don't typically attract the complete novice punters which he'd have to be here for the above to apply.
I can agree with all that, but I still think the flush would only call your raise (assuming you are not jamming) and if he 4 bets you he simply must have better than a flush.

I know I bang on about tourney equity all the time, and it kind of appears nitty to just call or maybe fold certain PHA threads. However this is the prime example of tourney equity suicide I mean. That goes double for satellites where there may be many first prizes as most live sats have.

If there is only one seat for first I jam hoping for flush to call. In this situation with multiple seats I call and reap an already juicy pot most of the time and occasionally when I am beat I look like Phil Ivey. Is this correct theory or am I way off base?

Is this a 50p thread? You call and he shows quads.

I am trying to think what hands a probably solid/nitty player leads river with, that has called that flop? I don't think he would with a flush.
