Being a lover of controversy and grudge match ups myself this is pretty epic

(sorry MANTIS, I dont know you at all, nothing personal here) But As i know Cos personally and I feel like taking sides.....

GO COS GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!

(you should play 4 tables, 2 PLO and 2 NLHE hu imo - that was the format for my latest grudge match Smiley )

I would abs love to do this but he's not even answering whether he'd consider doing it.

Maybe because he's thinking of a way he can say no with a reason to justify that's it's not just because he'd know he'll get crushed.

I don't mind considering something. Firstly, I can't commit to the sort of schedule you are suggesting because of work and I would want a live challenge. The problems I have are that 1. I really don't like you, and so I'm kinda loathe to spend my pretty sparse leisure time around you or accomodate what you want, and 2. What challenge doesn't stop you bleating about it not being a big enough sample size blah blah when you get crushed.

HEM -/+ EV graphs should solve this problemo Smiley

IMO this shoud be a live challenge, no trackers, no calculators just a battle of will, skill and variance.

What about if the both take laptops to a casino and play heads up online cash but in front of each other, the best of both worlds.

yeah, battleship style, great for the rail Smiley

10k hands on 4tables shud take no time, could do it in three nights imo

Yeah I mean be fair lads, he's got no chance at the poker as it is, don't let him draw dead with a nose comp.

Another Great Moment. wp blonde

From my experience is really tight passive guys like this one seems to be, he has a straight here a huge %age of the time.

Against this guy I think theres more merit to checking back the turn than there is to betting. He can't have too many Adxd hands in his range, I can't see him flatting pre with A8dd or AKdd so we're not really getting another street of value from a whole lot worse on the turn.

As played, as much as it sucks we've gotta let this go I think

YES.

When i had the chips in my hand i regretted it.

Found myself in a pretty nasty spot last night

Playing £2/£5 7handed. Game is Very loose but villian in this hand is the table mega rock. played a few hands with him alredy which make a big impact on this hand

He limped  preflop and called a 5x raise from me out of the BB (3handed to the flop) he called two streets on a 55J 2 board and checked the river (7) back. I had AA.
He flopped a set of Jacks on a JAQ 2 spades board and check called flop, check called turn, (brick) then c/folded on a K river (I had air - didnt show)

SO he doesnt do much betting without a pretty good hand

Hero - £1300
Villian - £1200

three limper to my button straddle (£10) I make it £55 on the button with
one caller he calls 1 fold

flop comes a rather favourable      . Checks to me, I bet £115. He calls.

Turn comes

he checks. I bet £225.
He moves in without missing a heartbeat for pretty much bang on £1,000.

Thoughts?

10059  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: .25/.50c PLO Hand on: July 29, 2010, 03:13:58 PM
Folding pre at any point would be terrible, I would actually just 3bet the first raise but as played after getting 3bet just flat because you're hitting a set 1/4 times and a flush draw often enough also to get it in on the flop.

But shipping and binking works too!

I think its a lot closer, slightly higher up I think folding becomes marginally the worst play, but at these stakes people making these plays just have it AAxx hands far too much. plus it looks like its going to be 3way if you shove+ ur hand plays pretty terrible multi-way. If you have reason to think one of the guys would fold...then shoving is profitable for sure.

Also +1 on the 3betting pre. +1 on calling to flop 40% equity Smiley

10062  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: TT in $500 tourney on: July 29, 2010, 03:03:53 PM
I wouldn't jam 90k into a 60k pot on a rainbow board with AA/kk or QQ. Why would you do that? Especially given your tight image. Thus how can TT be the very bottom of your range? TT is actually the top of your range for making this play. You said you don't jam a set, so you don't want to jam a premium pair for the same reasons. I think the strat is definitely -EV.

what games do you play online and live?

What are your nicknames?

Do you win? Ever?

Do you think you are a shrewd judge of character?

Do you find yourself often having to apologise for reading people and situations wrongly?

Did your parents never teach you it's rude to answer a question with a question?

No different a judge of character from most people really.

Rarely have to apologise but not afraid to if I feel it's necessary.

Anyway maybe you can answer the questions above now as well as a few others.

Why are your defences so high? Afraid to admit you're a life loser at poker?

Ever think your life will make it out of Walsall?

No, it was the teachers at the high profile Grammer School I attended who taught me answering a question with a question is known as the Socratic Method of debate, after the philosopher Socrates, and isn't considered rude at all. I'm not defensive. The difference between me and you is that I don't really mind what people think whereas you always come across as slighty desperate to prove yourself.

If there's one word in that post you didn't want to misspell, it was 'Grammar'.

Just so, so good.

just to add to the hand, villian said "your good" and attempted to muck his hand, id have won the pot if I hadnt excitedly victory revealed my AQ high, eager to get everyone telling me how clever I was....

wp me all round Smiley
10065  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Live Cash Hand. Deep. on: July 28, 2010, 06:50:13 PM
i assume he was bluffing, it's a pretty bad hand to bluff with given that you can only fold out a 7 that beats you and even that might call

+1. he admitted immeadiatley after the hand it was a bluff, he said thought specifically i had a 55/77 hand and i wouldnt call a big river bet. I ruled him out betting with AK virtually immeadiatley, hence why I (somewhat result orientated) asked if anyone would shove the river lol
That was my feeling from start when u posted was your only play on winning pot was to raise river an def not calling which was the worst option of all imo.
[/quote/]

mmmm dunno if i completely agree tbh. I think during the hand i felt like id be winning with AQhigh more often than I actually would be (maybe I picked a little something off of chris during the hand idk) hence why i ignored what is probably the best route and didnt c/r the turn. If i got a read that he had a weak hand I was kinda (to my detrement) right

On the other hand Chris obviously picked up on my hand strength, realised I thought I had the best hand (which I did), realised that this was probably a hand like 88 and that as his line crediby reps an overpair he was gonna bet huge to make me fold (he was pretty much right as well just so happened his hand was slightly ahead of mine this time)

With the action as played, I still dont mind a call, he doesnt have tons of /8s in he 3bets (97/87/98/9T/86 suiteds granted) + he has AA-JJ aswell im pretty sure that is his value range. all airball hands will bet river again and I win vs all of them except AK, but i expect him to c/back AK most of the time on the river, plus I had a "live read" in this vacuum that lead to believe (correctly as it turns out, but incorrectly at the same time) that he was bluffing in this instance (couldn't tell you what it was I just had a very strong feeling.

With these points considered I dont hate my river call, and actuallly prefer it to folding in this instance, pretty sure raising isnt profitable, and if i can narrow his value range like I can here to not include too many super VBs (really dont think he'd Vbet anything less than an 8 + he'd check a few of those back here i think)  and beat all but 1 hand he bluffs with....

I can justify the hand to myself because I really thought he was bluffing at the time and he was! wiii I win!
