Almost every firm has a clause like 4.6.  Years ago when I first started in the game at BMU I was responsible for their first ever website and and wrote all of their rules and had a huge row with VC and the CEO when they asked me to include it.  It did my career there no good at all but I said then and still maintain that at best it takes advantage of punters and at worst is downright theft.

Poor fucker, this is what he tweeted when he bought in.

Go Jorryt!

Do feel sorry for him a bit.  Obviously nice to win the money etc but to have two shots at a final table and come ninth both times must be heartbreaking.

Just read a tweet that made me remember Luke Schwartz......what happened to him?

Just out of interest why do you consider it likely to be "the best event ever held in this country"?

I would buy you in this at 1.25

LOL - it cant be THAT good.

All on the jimmy bandwagon surely? Really popular with most of the football watching population.

Seems a very fair price 4/1.  Can't imagine him not having the bottle to do the challenges and is generally very popular.

This Betway stuff is terrible.

That last link just looked like fraud to me.

Fwiw I had no problems at all with deposits withdrawals until I tried to log in today and found out they closed my account without even telling me.  The vast majority of these are roll over requirements on bonuses etc. has anybody actually had a proper bet with real cash in the last year or so and just not been paid out when they won?

The guy referred to earlier was a cash bet from what he is saying...

The main worry is the terms and conditions for me

"Reserve the right to confiscate all winnings for "irregular betting".

That seems very very vague and open to abuse to me. As several people have stated they have changed their t+C's a lot in the last few months as well

Whilst not defending them almost every firm has a clause which they can use as a catch all to not pay punters if they feel like it but generally the mark of a firm is how often they use it.  Think Betway are just the latest example of firm that have been set up with the sole intention of only catering to the absolute muggiest punters and have no intention of taking a single penny off anyone that is intelligent to understand that a coin toss is evens each of two.  I lost my account there after one bet and I think they are the kind of firm that would restrict you if they thought you would only lose 4%!!!

Was quite interested to see that all (?) the Premier League footballers had "embroidered" poppies on their shirts this weekend.

A good thing, I guess, but it seemed a bit "forced" to me. Not sure why that made me a little uneasy, as it has to be good on balance.

I did the Sky Poker TV show on Saturday, wearing "TV clothes" rather than regular street gear, & of course I forgot to transfer my poppy. Soon as I got in the Studio, the Floor Manager said "here's a Poppy for you". I was, at the same time, annoyed with myself for forgetting to bring my own poppy, but ever so slightly uncomfy that I was being, sort of, obliged to wear it. Of COURSE I wanted to wear a poppy, but it seemed a bit wrong to be almost told to wear one. Not sure if that makes sense?

Good post Tony.  Wearing a poppy should be something which is absolutely up to the individual and the idea of it being a default for people in the public eye unless they specifically opt out makes me very uncomfortable.  It also feels like it lessens the power of it too.  I would have a lot more respect for public figures that wore a poppy if I felt as though they had made that decision themselves rather than having it forced upon them.

^^^ didn't someone else tip Walsall once twice to do something?

Just waiting for someone to tip Soton for the league at 50/1 after we are on them to go down, top 4 and 6 finish from redarmi from BE you could finally lose the 'full eso kral walsall' gag!
If only.....

i aint seen any bets other than my orginal tip then to lay it off when it was at the bottom of the market

personally if i was able to and had money to invest i would be laying saints for top 4 and top 6 now or after the villa game
and then covering the bet after the man u game on the 10th of jan

in that spell of 10 games we play 7 games against teams that finished above us last season
2 games v man u and arsenal
and games against city chelsea and everton

despite the league posistions i would be laying the saints in all 7 of those games

The only thing worth remembering is that Saints seem to have hit the perfect storm this season of teams on a downer.

Beat West Ham away - no Sakho, no Valencia, no Song playing
Beat Swansea away - Bony idiotic red card when Swansea were well on top
Beat Newcastle at home when they were in the doldrums
Beat Sunderland at home when they as good as gave up
Beat Leicester at home when they were in a slump of form

Still favour Saints in the match bet v Everton which is essentially the fight for that 6th spot. 4/9 Saints, 2/1 Everton at the moment.

They also beat these teams by a combined 18-1.  Even if you take the Sunderland game out of the equation that is impressive and the idea that teams were not in form in a season that has is only 11 matches old seems a bit results centric and it has already been shown that, for example, Newcastle weren't actually playing that badly in that period.  Soton have clearly had a fairly good run of fixtures and I don't think anyone is suggesting they are going to win the league but at this point I would much rather back them as a team that is getting it done both in terms if results and stats on a weekly basis than take a leap of faith on a team like MU will randomly find form when nothing they have done so far suggests they are anything better than a poor top ten team.

On another note what on earth has happened to Man City?  There is something intangible that seems to have gone wrong there.

If the prices are anything like I expect I will be backing Soton in all of those games barring v Chelsea possibly.  Certainly against Man Utd and City

Bob eventually got quoted 100/1 November and December but max bet is £20

You can't be too careful.

Not sure what is more laughable here - the price or the limit.

Vegas is never getting a franchise

Why not?  I have aways thought it strange that there was no NFL franchise in Vegas.

There's no major sports team in Vegas because of sports betting.

It is interesting that this has never been suggested as a bar to having a franchise in UK.  Fwiw I don't think a franchise in the UK would work.  The odd game is great and people will travel for it but it is prohibitively expensive to travel to London for a game (especially a late game) and the tickets themselves are pretty expensive.  Effectively they will probably have to get 60k a fortnight from the London area which seems a bit of a stretch to me and I am also not sure about the corporate sales element either unless they are going to be able to sell to the States.

Thanks for the Thurs night free tip, which won at a canter. Always nice to wake up, look at NFL.com and find you are a little wealthier.

If you have gone to bed 4 minutes before i would have slept a lot better than if you had gone to bed at the end of the 3rd qtr!!!!

This, I bet under 39.5 points in running and was sweating badly going into the last 4 minutes lol.

Ha! I bet under 49.5 and was still sweating.....which probably says more about the way this season has been than anything else.  You just expect to lose unders in ridic scenarios.

James Acaster is very funny.  I find Andrew Lawrence very funny but his sister is one of my best friends and know the family well and he does a lot of stuff on them so I might be slightly biased although I get the feeling after some of his comments this week he might not be getting as many gigs in future.

One thing that does surprise me is that tey have done this so quickly.  My assumption was that the value that Amaya saw in Stars was as a full service gaming company and that they would add a casino and sportsbook and probably even other games, bingo etc in fairly short order.  Seems quite bad to tarnish the brand with all of this stuff first as it will have a knock on effect to the other stuff when they could have shown revenue growth without it and done this stuff in a year or two to keep the revenue going in the right direction without getting the blame as the bad guys that screwed up Stars.  If they did it in a couple of years they could have probably got away with the rake increases etc on the basis of "poker ecology".  Seems poor management to me even if it was somewhat inevitable in the long run.
