I met my favourite homeless person, Paul, who I've not seen for a while, stopped to talk to him for a while and he was telling me about all the jobs he's been trying to get interviews for.
It annoys me sometimes that people like that put so much effort in, and still don't get a break while tons of people sit in the casino throwing away hundreds/thousands like it's nothing.
I'm a hypocrite, but still, I'm in an even worse mood now.

I often think the best thing people can do for me is to give me their time, without strings or hidden agendas. In the same way its the best thing I can offer to others and try to do so whenever I can. I do appreciate that practical help is needed in some situations ie money, food etc. Often situations cannot be altered but can be made more bearable by giving time, which is precious to everyone.
I respect you for what you've done and I'm sure the homeless person involved feels the same way.

I already give a large amount of money to alot of them whenever I can, but no.
I'm just going to consider spending time talking to them, as many are actually very interesting people, give them food, offer them shelter, and give them money when I can.
I imagine you took offense from my comment, was it because you do nothing for other people, because you're one of the gamblers money means nothing to, or actually because it bothers you that some gamblers don't care about money, and you have to?

I never took offence, I just though you were being hypocritical but missed the bit in your post where you said that’s how you felt anyway. Tightend set me straight and I said sorry. End of and sorry again for not reading posts fully!

Personally I don’t give to charity but fully intend to when I’m debt free (including the mortgage). When I’m in the clear I might help someone else but right now me and my family need what we have thanks. I also doubt if I would give to homeless charities as I feel there are many more needy causes.

Knowing how much those few $$$ meant, I dashed back to the table and took a C note before dashing back out in the hope that he was still there.

Are you trying to tell us you took money off the table during a cash game ?

thats absolutely shocking...
