should i have made it anyway?

90 player deepstack sit n go. 18 paid, 27 left, im in 10th with about 10k, blinds 200/400, 50 ante

I've hardly played any hands but doubled up with    and  by people unable to put down

The big chip leader has been bullying for a bit by raising a lot preflop.

I get  in the big blind which is my first hand for about 30 mins. All fold round to the bully in the cutoff who makes min raise to 800. I think, right had enough and re-raise to 3.2k. He dwells and then re re raises me all in for his remaining 27k. I called and he turns over  and im out.

Should I have folded? well, obviously i should have but at the time i felt like i had to make a stand. I put him on maybe AK or a smaller pair as his all in said to me he didnt want a call - i couldnt have been more wrong. Guess I was just outplayed? Or maybe i should learn to lay down bloody jacks lol. I guess i was a bit annoyed as i could have folded and still been ok.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers.

Hmm these situations are always difficult at this stage of a tournament.

Firstly I wouldn't have reraised so much - making it 2000 should be enough to get him to fold rubbish.

Was he constantly miniraising?  If this was the first time he miniraised and he calls your rr or rrrs, I would be very wary.

There might even be a case for just calling preflop and betting out 3/4 of the pot, once again if you get any action you are probably beaten.

I am here with doubleup, was he min raising all the time? how has he reacted to re-raises before? what is his game after the flop?

Looking for betting patterns is extremely important.  How some players behave when you call their bet on the flop? when do they push all in? and so on.

Thanks for the comments guys. I take your points about noticing how people play after the flop, bet sizes etc. I was playing 2 other tables at the same time (which I rarely do usually ) so was not concentrating on these things enough. Still thats definitely a lessonlearned for me which is a good thing!

It is very difficult not to play back at him with a premium when he is bing a bully and hindsight is of course a wonderful thing. However, I think here with 50 bb remaining and a decent structure ahead, then I don't want to go broke on JJ. I would have probably called and waited to see the flop, treating it like a small pair if I miss - particularly as I am out of position.

If he is that reckless, then there may be other opportunites to trap with something much stronger than what is essentiallly just one pair. Even if he is at it with just one overcard, you will lose to him roughly once in three.

Correction, my apologies. The bb was 400 so you are playing 25bb not 50bb, but my thoughts are the same.
