I've been playing poker for a while now (still a learner compared to lots on here I know) and have had the usual poker related ups and downs. I've heard lots of stories of the chip 'n' chair variety and always thought Nah! can't be done that often surely (ok it's probably not that often just everyone knows of at least one they can relate).

Well guess what!! here's mine.

Was playing a small 30 seater sit 'n' go on Blonde earlier tonight and due to a bad read 88's against KK was down to 150 chips with the blinds at 60 and me in the big blind (so down to 90chips effectively) from where I proceeded by a mixture of a bit of luck and some semi-reasonable play (even if I do say so myself  Wink) to get right back in it.

I was Chip leader when heads-up and so despite losing a couple of races I did come a very satisfying second - it wasn't a big win or anything but I think I got more pleasure from the fight back than if I'd won having fantastic hands all the way through.

So just maybe there is something in this chip 'n' a chair that isn't just an old wives tale lol.

certainly isnt.

first night I met Thewy (well done JT) and Tikay was in comp in Notts Gala and I got moved to Tikays left witha single 500 chip with blinds of 200/400. I went on to win the comp outright and Tikay and Thewy were also at the final

Just think, if they didn't move the shortstacks at the Gala, me and Tikay might never have met

bastards

I have a similar story relating to the old 50k tourny, the one and only time I'd qualified for it

it paid to 81, and with 82 left, I was 82nd in chips, with less than a big blind remaining. Managed to double up when it got to my BB ( I was in the money then), and then went on what can only be described as an astonishing run of cards and hands, till i went out with the final table in sight ( typically rivered). At the time, and until recently it was my biggest cash in a tourny, and I keep a picture of the payout on my phone to this day as a reminder!

Well done.

I saw a player come to a full 10-handed final table with one 1k chip when the blinds were 2k/4k and proceed to win the tournament out-right...beating me HU. Most astonishing thing I've ever seen in poker.
