As someone that generally hates cities, I was surprised to find that Rome was an absolutely lovely place. I would just see the sights, walk around as much as you can taking in the atmosphere and stopping in squares for coffee/beer/ices or whatever takes your fancy.

Only word of caution, don't get a picture with the 'gladiators' at the Colliseum - it's €30 until you realise that that's per 'Gladiator'. Of course you don't have to pay them legally but you'll have to put up a good fight or run pretty fast!!

Enjoy and don't let the miserable gits spoil what you are looking forward to. (Oh and Pisa is a complete tourist shithole!)
