Off to Burntisland on Saturday for a 4 man scramble but I'm getting an early pick up as we have our usual Friday night game of cards might not be in the best shape  but looking forward to it never played it before and even if we stink the views of of the Firth of Forth are meant to be lovely and the course although not long everyone I have spoken to have really enjoyed it. 

It's quite hilly and quirky with some tricky holes. If there's a bit of run it's easy to find trouble on a few.

We had a cracking day. Course is definitely quirky but really good fun and in fantastic condition. We played pretty well came in with a 61 for a net 54 which may sneak into prizes. Left a few out there certainly, especially parring the 2nd par 5 when it was an 8 iron into it for the second shot with the big helping wind and hard and fast fairways, think we made a mistake taking the closer ball chipping down the green when we would have been better with one that was short but up the slope. Will certainly look to go back and would recommend a visit if anyone is passing £40 green fee is well worth it.

Next outing is Thursday at Lenzie for the seniors 4 man scramble . Played there last year for first time wasn't too sold on the course but we did get a pretty miserable day so hoping for some nice weather and a better experience. Main reason for going back was the food in the clubhouse afterwards, top scran as the man says

Best round of the year so far but frustratingly lipped a 2ft putt for birdie on the 18th 🙄 Also had to take 3 drop balls, bloody water.😠

It's a senior major for me tomorrow at Wollaton in the form of The Veterans Cup, a medal off the yellow tees. I've hardly played during the last ten days or so due to not handling the persistent hot weather so well and not having much get up and go either, which might well be related. Hoping for the best!

Much better day for me today in the senior medal. I actually played quite steady golf on the front nine going out in 41(+5) and started the back nine par, bogey, par, meaning I was +6 through the first 12 holes. Had a bit of a collapse after that with three double-bogeys on the spin which irked me somewhat although the first two were a little unlucky, I stank the par5 15th out after a big drive for me, playing four crap shots in a row!
Steadied the ship somewhat on the last three holes for a 44 on the back nine so shot 85/13 net 72. Completing the course made a pleasant change too.
The Veterans Cup is for those in the senior medal who are 70+ and I think I came 2nd(again) which is a shame as I've never won it.

Pretty good shooting there Ralph. VUL in the veterans. Crikey I've just realised I'm just over 2 years away before I qualify for Veterans status. Tom will be there first though. 😁

Good going Ralph, as they say games trending 

Had an eventful weekend, Coronation cup a 2 dayer, just wanted to play wasn't sure if I'd play both. I was sure I played it a few years ago scored really well on the Saturday but instead of a Friday night poker game we played on the Saturday to watch a euro/world cup final. Got convinced to play the Sunday but obv turned up ripped and had NR'd by the turn

Anyway, went out in 37 couple of birdies at 2 & 3, hit a great 3 wood drawing round  trees onto the ridiculously long 9th to get a par 4, always ok with a 5 there. Then came back in 49. Got a 2 at the 15th, can't think I've made 2 or 3 there to but broke 50 . Won't go into the nonsense

So went to my Sisters for a bbq after that which means an early night for me on a Saturday (normally in my cave till a lot later ).  Relivied all the disasters with my BOL who must be fed up hearing them and so figured I could get out early and be back for the final group of The Open, just wanted to get that 9 away from me. Went out in 38 came back in 39 for 77 my best of the whites at Alloa, scrambled well and really didn't feel like i was hitting that well but didn't find myself in any stupid situations, certainly could have easily been 2 or 3 better missed a few putts that if hit with purpose should be in. Game still feels as it sounds like on a knife edge it could be 90+ or could 80-. What a game.
