Yes, usually one "pearler" every couple of holes. Its the other 7 shots that let it down!!  Cheesy

If i can keep the drive straight that is usually my best shot - and BigArmo can back me up on that. But then he keeps telling me "Driving for show, putting for dough". Working on my iron play at the minute and working on a shortened backswing, the power and distance is there but the accuracy is off. With a shortened backswing i'm losing a bit on the distance but connecting much better means i'm improving my accuracy.

We'll keep practicing and we'll be in the pgatour by 2010!! Smiley

I guess it is like one of those sports like snooker. It looks easy from a distance, but after actually trying it.  It is seriously hard.

When I actually hit the ball I can get it to roll roughly half way down the fairway of a par 3, does that count?

If  a player has a handicap of 5 at one particular golf course, can he then go to another golf course and tell people he has a handicap of 5?  or does it only count for his regualr course?

everywhere, your handicap is the same.

So a player could play the same golf course day after day for years. He would get a handicap of 0 and then be able to walk smugly into the clubhouse of another course and brag about his skill?   My local golf club   http://www.loudoungowfclub.co.uk/    is basically a field.  I know nothing about golf, but to me it looks like a course Tiger Woods could master in an afternoon while he had a bad hangover.

there may be some differences in handicap allocation if the course is longer etc but i don't actually know for sure how it all works. I haven't got a certificate.

Err golf isn't like a quiz game where you can learn all the answers by playing the game often enough.  You won't get to a low handicap without being a good player.

Some courses are a lot more difficult than others but the difference is more at the high handicapper level than the low - to go round any golf course in level par requires a great deal of skill.
