I am looking to get some new walking shoes and leaning towards getting a pair of Merrells.

Will be used to walk the dog and for casual wear.

Obviously they need to be comfortable and waterproof.

Does anybody have recommendations?

Budget is around £100.

Just bought some Brasher from Go Outdoors for around £100. Leather finish, waterproof, extremely comfortable and good enough for hill walking. I've also got 2 pairs of merells and these are much better I find.

I do a fair bit of walking & previously had regatta & then hi tech boots. About 3 months ago I invested in some merrells & they're fantastic. Light weight & comfortable, worth the extra few £££ if you use them a lot

I know they're outside of your stated price range but I have a pair of these and they are boss - they'll outlive me.

Go to the nearest shop that sells outdoor stuff. Will likely sell all sorts of stuff from tents to walking shoes. Everyone is different and every persons foot will fit a particular shoe differently.

Thanks for the replies.

I ended up getting these:

They "tick all of the boxes" and should give me several years of comfortable wear.

My dad once brought home a pair of second hand hob nail boots and gave them to me. The leather was about an inch thick and as hard as iron, and the soles were festooned with metal studs, or 'segs' as we used to call them.

"What are these?" I asked him suspiciously.

"Riding boots".

"These aren't riding boots".

"Really? Well you try walking in em.... "
